Awesome idea! We've kind of put some out there in the Groups and Ships...it would be cool to keep them in one place

Remember not to post full lyrics anyone!!! Just a snippet and a link...'cause otherwise we get in trouble ;)

I have tons on my mind...but I have all the lyrics bookmarked at home...I'll be back later!

Good advice QueenE, I didn't know that. I'm sure your bringing this one over, but I just posted it on Locke's song thread and have it handy

Snippets from Steve Miller's Space Cowboy:

"Don’t you know that I’m a gangster of love"

"I keep my eyes on the prize, on the long fallen skies
And I don’t let my friends get hurt"

Keep on Rockn' Me Baby

"And I know that it’s true that all the things that I do
Will come back to me in my sweet time"

I seem to be stuck on Steve Miller. I'm actually trying to find the lyrics for this one song and I can't think of what it is. Something about some women want to own me, he numbers them. 5 want to own me 3 want to stone me and 1 is a friend is mine? Help?

Found It! Eagles Take It Easy

"I’ve got seven women on
My mind,
Four that wanna own me,
Two that wanna stone me,
One says she’s a friend of mine"

"Come on baby, don’t say maybe
I gotta know if your sweet love is
Gonna save me"

great choices for the Sawyer songs

Desperado by The Eagles (http://www.azlyrics.com/lyrics/eagles/desperado.html)

Desperado, oh, you ain't gettin' no younger
Your pain and your hunger, they're drivin' you home
And freedom, oh freedom well, that's just some people talkin'
Your prison is walking through this world all alone

Heres Your Letter-Blink182

Cut the skin to the bone
Fall asleep all alone
Hear your voice in the dark
Lose myself in your eyes
Choke my voice say good night
As the world falls apart

Heres a letter for you
but the words get confused
and the conversaton dies
Apoligze for the past
Talk some **** take it back
Are we cursed to this life

Im talking to the ceiling
My life just lost all meaning
Do one thing for me tonight
Im dying in this sielence

The last star left in hevan
Is falling down to earth
And do you still feel the same way

Liz, just remember that you can't quote the whole song. It's a copywrite issue.

How about "Please Please Please Let Me Get What I Want" by the Smiths? The lyrics always make me think of Sawyer, especially "See, the life I've had would make a good man bad." Full lyrics here: http://www.afn.org/~afn30091/songs/s/smiths-please.htm

And, the lyrics to Pat Benatar's "Heartbreaker" make me think of all of Sawyer's conned (and possibly very angry) ladies.

What about "Smooth Operator" by Sade.
Here's a tidbit of it:

He's laughing with another girl
And playing with another heart.
Placing high stakes, making hearts ache.
He's loved in seven languages.
Diamond nights and ruby lights, high in the sky.
Heaven help him, when he falls.

Ooh, that's a good one!

I've got two more: "Colors" by Crossfade http://www.allsonglyrics.us/lyrics/8259/crossfade-colors-lyrics.html
and "Almost Over" by Limp Bizkit http://www.tophitsonline.com/lyrics.php?songid=2795

Both songs just make me think of where he's been, and where he COULD be. And doesn't this line make you think of Sawyer as a con man? "I established my name as another man"

Okay, I've got another one, although really it's just the line from the song that makes me think of him lately. Primarily because of the beating he's been taking, this line makes me think of Sawyer: "How can I turn the other cheek, it's black and bruised and torn." From the Police's "O My God", full lyrics here: http://www.purelyrics.com/index.php?lyrics=fmhptzou

Myha, thanks for the recruiting efforts!!

Heard this song on PBS, it's a little to jazzy, but the lyrics reminded me of Sawyer immediately:

I'm All the Friends That I Got, by Jeff DeHerdt

I like a drink with my prescription pills.
They add a little fire to my will.
Still, people treat me like some imbecile.
I’m all the friends that I got.

I like to say just what I want to say
If you don’t like it then just go away
If I’m annoying you then please don’t stay
I’m all the friends that I’ve got.

That was a good one, T!

Here's kind of an old one, but it makes me think of Sawyer:

Billie Holiday's "Them There Eyes" (http://www.thelyricssite.com/song/Billie+Holiday/Them+There+Eyes)

Especially these parts:

You’ve got a certain lil’ cute way of flirtin’ with
Them there eyes...
...You’d better watch them if you’re wise
They sparkle
They bubble
They’re gonna get you in a whole lot of trouble
You’re overworkin’ them
There’s danger lurkin’ in
Them there eyes

Sawyerman, Sawyerman
Does whatever Jack Shepard can.
Kills a bear, any size.
Catches girls, just like flies.
Look out!
It's naked Sawyerman.

Is he sexy?
Listen - "THUD!"
He's got Southern Pervert blood.
Wish he was in your bed?

This is a bit Disney, but what the heck, ABC is owned by Disney...

He's a tramp
But I love him
Breaks a new heart
Ev'ry day

He's a tramp
They adore him
And I only hope
He'll stay that way

He's a tramp
He's a scoundrel
He's a rounder
He's a cad

He's a tramp
But I love him
Yes, and even I
Have got it pretty bad...

You know, given Sawyer's recent state of health, I'm finding these lyrics from The Beatles' "Help!" somewhat appropriate:

Help me if you can, I'm feeling down
And I do appreciate you being 'round
Help me get my feet back on the ground
Won't you please, please help me

Full lyrics here. (http://www.stevesbeatles.com/songs/help.asp)

Since he is Southern guy, how 'bout a country song:

Rough & Ready by Trace Adkins

Song Lines:
-"Got a "what-are-you-looking-at-a**hole" smirk"
-"Don't take no crap
Ain't a pretty boy-toy
I'll rock you steady
Rough and ready"
-"Got a hot date, girl named Kate
Think's I'm cool - 'cause I shoot straight"

Snippets from Disarm by the Smashing Pumpkins
"I used to be a little boy
So old in my shoes
And what I choose is my choice
What's a boy supposed to do?"

"Disarm you with a smile
And leave you like they left me here
To wither in denial
The bitterness of one who's left alone"

Bad to the Bone
words: George Thorogood

On the day I was born, the nurses all gathered 'round
And they gazed in wide wonder, at the joy they had found
The head nurse spoke up, and she said leave this one alone
She could tell right away, that I was bad to the bone

I broke a thousand hearts, before I met you
I'll break a thousand more baby, before I am through
I wanna be yours pretty baby, yours and yours alone
I'm here to tell ya honey, that I'm bad to the bone

I make a rich woman beg, I'll make a good woman steal
I'll make an old woman blush, and make a young woman squeal
I wanna be yours pretty baby, yours and yours alone
I'm here to tell ya honey, that I'm bad to the bone

Yeah, I love Bad to the Bone in regards to Sawyer - it's the attitude he sings the song with, not necessarily the lyrics.

Someone on JHF made a vid to that song for Sawyer - I love how it starts Bad to the Bone Vid (http://www.josh-holloway.com/videos-music.php)

Thanks LisiBee for updating those. :)

Thanks LisiBee for updating those. :)

No problem, T; maybe we can let a few more accumulate before updating the list again.

I do have another song offering to make, although it was probably more appropriate before Sawyer's fever broke: Elvis' "Burnin' Love". Full lyrics here. (http://www.nothingbutnett.com/lyrics/burnin_love.htm) Although you can interpret the lyrics as pro-Skate  , I particularly like these lyrics as they apply to Sawyer: "Lord Almighty I feel my temp'rature rising, Higher and higher it's burning through to my soul" and, of course "I'm just a hunka hunka burnin' love" Hunka Hunka burnin' love, indeed.

Hi Y'all,

In an effort for us to have something to do while the holiday break is going on and to help us further enjoy our addiction to the greatest male character since Rhett Butler (okay I'm a little partial, what can I say?), I thought it would be fun to make a list of all the songs that remind us of our darlin' Sawyer and tell why.

So here we go....post your ideas for the songs that remind of us Sawyer.

1. The Wanderer by Dion and the Belmonts (I think)...I love that 'roam from town to town' line.
2. Suspicious Minds by Elvis...can you think of anyone more suspicous than Sawyer?
3. The Fireman by George Straight...'hose 'em down, while they're burnin' up....'nuff said.
4. Maybe It Was Memphis by Pam Tillis...'lonely boy, far from home'...definately puts me in mind of our Sawyer.

What else can you come up with and I'll be thinking of more too.

Huggs everyone,
Lisa

Okay here's another one...y'all probably won't know this one but it's a country song.

5. Good Ole' Boy by Moe Bandy and Joe Stampley...."I been shot at and cut with a knife, for messin' around with another man's wife...." again, nuff said.

Huggs y'all,
Lisa

6. Boullevard of Broken Dreams "I walk alone"

If I had the technology I would definately make a Sawyer vid to that one.

Oh, and I think I spelled Boullevard wrong.

Is that the one that was played at the end of Confidence Man? If it is, I love that song...if it's not, them I'm sorry I don't know it.

There are so many songs that remind me of him....however, on my end, most of them are country since that's what I listen to.

Okay here's another one.

Rub It In by Billy "Crash" Craddock (okay it's about 20 years old, but it's still good)

Lie beside me on the sand,
Put some lotion in you hands.
Baby, make it feel nice,
Rub it once or twice.
Rub it in, rub it in.

Hey, it's about suntan lotion, I figure Sawyer and Kaate need a lot of suntan lotion, being on an island in the South Pacific.

Okay here's two more:

Come A Little Closer (by Dierks Bentley)
Come a little closer, baby,
I feel like layin' you down,
On a bed of sweet surrender,
Where we can work it all out.

Never Been This Far Before (by Conway Twitty)
I (Sawyer) don't know what I'm sayin',
As my tremblin' fingers touch forbidden places.
I don't know and I don't care,
What made you (Kate) tell him (Jack) you don't love him anymore.
As I taste the love you're givin',
I can tell you've never been this far before.

Wow, talk about smokin'

Hey, y'all!

LOVE this thread! All the songs seem to fit Sawyer's personality and character to a tee! It's too awesome...esp., I think, "Desperado" and "Rough & Ready". Keep up the awesome work, guys  .

lisa: OMG, your choices so far have been dead-on! And, you even chose one of my absolute fave songs, Dierks Bentley's "Come A Little Closer" .

Here's some more contributions to the list, if that's okay...

"Fooled Around And Fell In Love", Elvin Bishop

"Well, I must've been through 'bout a million girls,
i'd love 'em and i'd leave 'em alone,
and I didn't care how much they cried, no sir,
their tears left me as cold as a stone

"Lot of Leavin' Left To Do", Dierks Bentley

"Girl, you look like you might be an angel,
so I won't lie,
I can love you like the devil,
if you wanted me to tonight

Chorus: Guess the Lord made me hard to handle,
so lovin' me might be a long-shot gamble,
so before you go and turn me on,
be sure that you can turn me loose,
'cause i've still got a lot of leavin' left to do

just thought of another song that reminds me of Sawyer...dunno why I didn't think of it a little bit ago, since it's by my absolute fave artist...

"You Won", Keith Urban

You built a bridge, I tore it down,
I felt safe on shaky ground,
and I was a master of despair,
makin' believe I didn't care

I'm ready to fall
I thought I knew what I was doing
I thought I was in control
I thought nobody could slow me down
But what did I know
I was just a kid, a motherless child
No one to watch over me I was runnin' wild
Free of all responsibility 'til my life
And my love for myself caught up with me
Yeah, it caught up with me
And now I'm (ready to fall), yes I am
So ready

The Keith song I think completely applies to the whole Sawyer/Kate dynamic :) .

WOW!!!

You picked some great ones, hun. Let's see how many more we can get.

Thanks, hun! I know- seems to me Dierks has got some pretty dead-on Sawyer tunes- CALC, Lotta Leavin', Domestic Light & Cold is a good one, too...and haven't looked at the lyrics to it yet (my friend is a big DB fan, and lets me listen to his songs over the phone, but don't actually have either of his cd's yet...), but maybe "Bartenders, Barstools and Bar Maids" might be another good one...and I have a feeling that prolly during his late teens and early twenties, Sawyer coulda prolly related a little too much w/ "What Was I Thinkin'?" *LOL*. Some of Keith's songs can fit, too, I noticed...like I can just see Sawyer relating to "You Look Good In My Shirt", and "Jeans On".

Will have to sleep on it, but I bet I can come up w/ a TON more good ones  ...

I've had a day or two to think some more, and came up w/ more songs! Heard some of these on the radio this morning and thought, "OMG, that is so Sawyer!" *LOL*...

"Life In the Fast Lane", The Eagles (my FAVE Eagles song)

He was a hard-headed man
He was brutally handsome, and she was terminally pretty
She held him up, and he held her for ransome in the heart
of the cold, cold city
He had a nasty reputation as a cruel dude
They said he was ruthless, they said he was crude

Only those lines reminded me of Sawyer and Kate, but man, are those lines dead-on describing Sawyer  .

And this one put me in the mind of Sawyer, too, just because he seems so darn p***'d off...

"Blue Monday", Orgy

I thought I told you to leave me
while I walked down to the beach
tell me how does it feel
when your heart grows cold

But the absolute BEST one i've found yet, and am surprised nobody else beat me to it...because it has Sawyer written all over it...

"Dead Or Alive", Bon Jovi

Sometimes I sleep, sometimes it’s not for days
And the people I meet always go their separate ways
Sometimes you tell the day
By the bottle that you drink
And times when you’re all alone all you do is think

Chorus:
I’m a cowboy, on a steel horse I ride
I’m wanted dead or alive
Wanted dead or alive

That's all i've got right now...i'll try to think of some more...hmmm...maybe Tim McGraw's "The Cowboy In Me"? Could be a good one...

you got some good one's there SSS....I like them all.

Okay, how about Tim McGraw's Real Good Man....
I may have a reckless streak atleast a country mile wide.
If you're gonna run with me, it's gonna be a wild ride.
When it comes to lovin' you,
I've got velvet hands.
I'll show you how a real bad boy, can be a real good man.

And let's not forget Toby Keith's Who's Your Daddy?
Who's your daddy?
Who's your baby,
Who's your buddy,
Yea, who's your friend,
Who's the one guy
That you come runnin' to
When your love life
Start's tumblin'.

I got the money,
You got the honey,
Let's cut a deal,
Let's make a plan
Who's your daddy,
Who's your baby,
Who's your buddy,
Who's your man?

I love that idea...

I thought of another one:

Gary Allen's Her Man

I been a wild-catter,
And a go, go getter,
Been an SOB,
Right down to the letter.
I've had misadventures,
I've even got pictures.
I'm even more than I can stand.
But startin' today,
All I'm gonna be is her man.

Is that great or what??

Hurt-- Johnny Cash

Here's a little bit of the first verse and a little bit of the chorus:smile:

I hurt myself today
To see if I could feel
I focus on the pain
The only thing that's real

What have I become
My sweetest friend
Everyone I knows goes away
In the end

Sorry to be really picky, but Hurt is actually by Trent Reznor - him from Nine Inch Nails. He was truly honoured that Jonny Cash heard and decided to cover Hurt for his final album and that he dedicated it to his wife. Sorry. Picky-ness over.

The songs that always reminds me of Sawyer are:

God Put A Smile On My Face - Coldplay
Road Trippin' - Ret Hot Chili Peppers
Red Morning Light - Kings of Leon

Oh I didn't know. I was listening to the internet radio and heard Johnny Cash's version. It's all good.

I heard this one and thought it was cool for Sawyer. It reminded me of when he was seperated from Jack and the group and also how Sawyer doesn't realize or is beginning to realize that people care about him.

Here's a Clinto Black song (at least I think it was Clint Black) and I thought it reminded me of Sawyer.

Undercover cowboy,
Workin' under covers all over town,
To be an undercover cowgirl,
Undercover cowboy only want to know,
How to get under the covers with you.

I love that!!

This is a bit Disney, but what the heck, ABC is owned by Disney...

He's a tramp
But I love him
Breaks a new heart
Ev'ry day

He's a tramp
They adore him
And I only hope
He'll stay that way

He's a tramp
He's a scoundrel
He's a rounder
He's a cad

He's a tramp
But I love him
Yes, and even I
Have got it pretty bad...
You'll never guess what I found on YouTube . . .

Is he a tramp? (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=34uyfufzSvQ)

This song speaks to me of Sawyer: "Pain" by Three Days Grace (http://www.lyricstop.com/albums/threedaysgrace/pain.html). It reminds me of all he's been through that has shaped him into this hard-shelled man.

The whole song really applies, but here are a few pertinent lyrics:

"Pain, without love
Pain, I can't get enough
Pain, I like it rough
'Cause I'd rather feel pain than nothing at all"

and

"Anger and agony
Are better than misery"

Makes me want to cry! :crybaby:

Lets make a list of songs that fit Sawyer.
I think Boulevard of broken dreams by Green day is the most perfect Sawywer song ever.
Stuck in a moment by U2 also fit well.

I think Stuck in a moment could be applied to just about any survivor of oceanic flight 815!!!
I say Johnny Cash's Folsom Prison Blues.
The ultimate song for an outlaw!!!

Hmm....Ive been thinking about this a lot. Maybe ACDC - Highway To Hell, June - Ok Corral, Bad To The Bone (I can't remember who thats by) and I was going to say Greenday - Boulevard Of Broken Dreams but you already said that. Im not surprised, I agree with you. It IS the perfect Sawyer song. Or one of them anyway.

Hey guys, could you do me a favor? Instead of just posting the name of the song/artist, could you also say a few words about WHY you think this song is appropriate for Sawyer?

I don't want this thread to turn into (stay?) a one line-posts-only thread. Okay? Thanks.

Having said that: Bad to the Bone is just THE Sawer song for me ever since a friend of mine (with a MUCH better music knowledge than I have) made a CD with songs for every S1 character and she had BTTB for Sawyer. The lyrics just scream Sawyer, don't they? :71:

Not to be a party pooper, but there's already a thread for Sawyer Songs (http://www.thefuselage.net/Threaded/showthread.php?t=17764&highlight=sawyer+songs). Should the two threads be merged?
