Good evening Sawyer fans

How come you guys don't like the dynamics between Sawyer and Jack? Is it because you just don't like Jack? Maybe a better question would be how many of you like both men? I like both Sawyer and Jack and love it when they are in scenes together. But I've seen several posts that absolutely hate it when Jack is in a scene with Sawyer. Why all the hate?

Why all of what hate? Guess I am not quite sure what you are talking about. I like Sawyer and Jack just about the same amount. Jack's character doesn't seem to be quite as complex though. Sawyer is so complex, I don't think he even understands himself. So he is a much more interesting character to watch.

I like the dynamic between Sawyer and Jack.. now the dynamic between Sawyer and Kate is pretty lame. He could do way better then her.

Well, to answer your question goloptious (thanks for responding btw :)) I have seen numerous posts about people hating the fact that Sawyer always has to either be involved with Jack or Kate. You notice how I posted this yesterday and you were the first person to respond. I think that's because people just don't like Jack, so they chose to ignore my question, which atleast shows me they respected the fact that I didn't want to hear any negativity towards Jack. I think they could answer that question without bad mouthing Jack though, because I would seriously like to know why people hate those two together. It doesn't really have to be a competition between the two men.

I didn't see your question untill now Krystal but I happen to enjoy the scenes between Sawyer and Jack. The tension, the drama etc..and well I do get a sense of somewhere down the line those 2 guys might actually become some sorts of friends...they may be opponents now (for Kate lol) but they do have alot in common allthough the differences are standing out more.

Nope I dont mind those scenes one bit.

I don't always like them because I like both men, and one always walks away looking like a real jerk. I want to like both!

Yeah It makes the show more interesting! If everyone got along like strawberries and cottage cheese, it would be boring to watch! ;)

Hi Krystal--Thank you for starting an interesting discussion. I also just read this thread and I suspect that many other people didn't notice it because the title "Quick Question" doesn't indicate what the topic is about. I doubt people were ignoring you(I certainly wouldn't have :) ), I think we just usually tend to gravitate to titles that announce the topic's subject matter. So to answer your questions:

How come you guys don't like the dynamics between Sawyer and Jack? Is it because you just don't like Jack? Maybe a better question would be how many of you like both men? 1) I enjoy the scenes between Jack and Sawyer; both actors are superb at conveying the myriad of layers in their constantly shifting relationship. I find that dynamic much more intriguing than if they were best buds or motivated out of sheer hate for one another.

2) I also like Jack and Sawyer. I suspect that many people are fans of both since their characters are more complementary than one might suspect at first glance.

3) I have no hate. I'm also not sure how much hate is around. I think one of the problems inherent in large message boards is that unless you can read every post and gather everyone's opinion, it can be easy to form a generalization that's not necessarily reflective of the majority. Posts that are vociferously in support or criticism of a character tend to catch attention and be remembered so that can skew one's opinion about the most commonly held viewpoints. Healthy debate makes the board interesting so viva la difference  !

Hi Krystal :D, Well to answer your question, I like both Sawyer and Jack (maybe Sawyer a little more) but you know how that goes. ;) I really enjoyed the dialogue w/Jack and Sawyer when he asked him to take the gun in Homecoming. I think it would be great to see the 2 working together more. It would be super cool if Sawyer saved Jacks life too (just not by dying :mushy: .) They both bring great character aspects to the show though, and I dont think either will be going anywhere anytime soon. Now we just have to work on the fans to support both guys. Viva la Sawyer & Jack!!!

Girlspy, love this idea!* * *:)* * *That would be so much drama and emotion, as long as Jack doesn't die.* *Can't lose Jack.* * ;)

Hi Krystal

I love Jack, but in a different way than I love Sawyer. wub

Matthew and Josh have great chemistry together and I enjoy the animosity between these two alpha males.

I've been wondering if they were going to do a Sawyer saves Jack thing. I'm to afraid if that happened Sawyer would end up dying. That would be no good at all I tell ya.

On the subject of Sawyer and Jack: I may like one better than the other, but I like seeing all the characters on screen whether they be together or not.

In a way it's kinda like Coke vs. Pepsi - one group likes one and one group the other. It's a matter of taste. Sawyer tastes better to me than Jack... ::) :-*

It's when people begin to make disparaging remarks about peoples choices where the anger and "hate" show up. "You like Sawyer?!?" "YUCK"! "You like Jack"?!? "YUCK"! That kinda thing.

I like Sawyer because I traditionally cheer the underdog. Sawyer is definitely an Underdog. Jack seems a bit more "privileged" however, we see in his backstories that that's not all it's cracked up to be either.

I guess I like to see the Underdog win, occasionally. Who knows? If the roles were reveresed, I might like Jack more!

That is exactly what I do not like and will comment on every time if I'm privy to it.* Dislike and criticize the character, not the fans of the character.* I understand that we can sometimes get caught up in the passion of the moment and will vent, but that really annoys me and I do not annoy easily.* >:( Hey - that sounds like a good signature line - lol. :)

I saw Gone with the Wind again this weekend.* If you haven't seen it there is an outcast "rogue" named Rhett Butler who pines and loves KATIE Scarlett O'Hara through the entire movie, but she loves and pines for an honorable and noble guy named Ashley.* There were a few comparisons, like her and Rhett having more passion (we haven't seen J/K YET - it will happen), both understanding each other's go-getter, by any means necessary attitude; Rhett thinking only of himself and looking out for number one but slowly seeing the error in his thinking later on.* There were a few more comparisons that could fit with Kate and Sawyer, with the HUGE exception being that Jack, unlike the noble Ashley, has demonstrated* that he likes her too, so it isn't doomed as in the movie.

I think Sawyer will inevitably get hurt. :-\

Isnt' it funny how we now watch EVERYTHING with Lost eyes. ;D

Ah but the antagonism between both men is what MAKES it interesting to watch them together (even though I love Saywer more).

I'm just guessing that it's due to the fact that Jack and Sawyer have different values and morals. Of course I could just be talking out of my butt. So just nod now and say OH...LOL

I'm so fickle that who my Jungle of Mystery crush is changes from epi to epi!!

Sometimes, I love Sawyer, sometimes Jack, most of the time Charlie and sometimes Boone. Occasionaly Sayid and Locke!

So many cute men, what's a girl to do!! :lol2:

I LIKE the scenes between Sawyer and Jack - there are layers to both characters that come out when they are in scenes together - also have been some funny lines when they are both in the same scene. One favorite was when the boars were in the wreckage and Jack says "Sawyer" and Sawyer replies "Behind you, Jacka**"

With each episode I get a new favorite (although have always liked Sawyer and Locke -he's a good guy!!!)
don't hate any of the characters (well, maybe Ethan!)

I DO like the dynamic between Sawyer and Jack actually...but I think it's natural when there's tension between two characters for the audience to pick a side and sort of 'root' for one of them...and I'm definitely going with Sawyer! ;D It just depends on which character you're drawn to.

I think one thing that kind of irritates me though (and maybe this is what some people are talking about) is that it seems that Sawyer is often relegated to ONLY dealing with either Jack or Kate and it gets kind of repetitive sometimes. I think Jack and Sawyer's relationship is interesting so far, but it seems like whenever there is a Sawyer episode or some type of conflict involving him...it always comes down a pissing contest between him and Jack...OR something involving the two of them and Kate.

I think I would personally like to see Sawyer branch off a little and have his plot line involve dealing with other people...but that's just my opinion.
