Got an amazing and true story that happened to you? Something you think will entertain your fellow posters? Let us know here!!

Maybe, just MAYBE we'll learn something about you we didn't know!

I'll start:

When I was younger, my friend was a skate boarder. I tried skate boarding myself but ended up liking my bike better. My dad built us small wooden ramps to jump off of and do tricks, and also he gave us wood with a small edge to sort of give us a "boost" when trying to pop wheelies and stuff.

one day i was fooling around on my bike and pulled back to pop a wheelie off the board, only i didn't stop, i flipped over backwards and landed on my head on the concrete.

That is the closest i have ever come to losing concsiousness. And it probably explains a lot as far as my craziness :)

okay, so that wasn't amazing . . . but it WAS true....your turn!

One time I was at the zoo and there was a peacock loose and because I was young and it was shiny I went to try and pet it so it started chasing me in circles and everyone just stood around and laughed. *sniff*

But then a tiger peed on some kid, so it was all good. :lol2:

That reminds me of the time my parents took my sister and I to some antique shop (I spent at least 3/5 of my childhood at antique shops), and they had a farm/petting zoo thing.* The turkeys attacked me!* I was absolutely terrified.

I took my collie to a dog show when I was a kid. While we were standing there getting judged, he pee'd on my foot. I was wearing sandals! It was awful.
He took home the best behaved dog award too. *L*

Believe it or not, that's concidered good luck. It happened to me to. Your friends lucky the pigeon didn't mug him/her. I wasn't so lucky. The pigeons in Philly are tough

I'm going to take this thread a different direction by taking it more literally:

here's my True Fuselage Story:

Summer of 2003 I met through my old blog a man named Brian. Brian was a HUGE Buffy/Angel fan. I had thought it would be something I would enjoy and he highly recommended it to me, so I went out and bought the DVDs . . . My wife and I quickly made our way through most of it before Dragon*Con in August of that year. We met Brian face to face for the first time there.

After the con, we had made it through all of Buffy and most of Angel. We were hooked. I went out and found out all I could about Joss Whedon and his crew of writers. We bought Firefly when it finally came out and loved it, we were Joss Fanatics.

Sometime during the beginning of Angel season 5, whedonesque posted "Joss posted at the Bronze again."

"Joss posts on line!?" I thought. "That is AWESOME!"

I immediately went to the Bronze:Beta and could not figure it out. It was backwards and strange looking and like no message board I had ever seen. I gave up and left.

I found other boards to post at and did for about half the season.

But, dangitt . . . I wanted to post to VIPs.

I finally went over to the Bronze and jumped in head first. I tried to grasp on to traditions, I tried to play along. I tried to join the community.

But like any n00b, that's difficult to do, and even more difficult when you not only have to deal with new community standards, but also a posting format that's intirely new to you. I complained about the 5 minute delay, I fumbled with Spoiler tagging at first, the usual. But I stuck around until just before the season ended.

My only connection to everyone was what was happening on Angel then, with that gone I didn't have as much, and hadn't grasped enough of the Lore to be able to keep up a conversation.

Anyway, after Angel was cancelled, I heard Fury was going to work on this new show for JJ Abrams called LOST . . . that team interested me so I started watching.

Whedonesque started carrying LOST news, so one day I got curious and revisited the Bronze and noticed they had a banner up for the Fuselage. I clicked over and was surprised that it was like the same day or the day after it opened and Fury even got on later that day.

I was excited! A place I could start off at anew! Start new lore and new traditions and never be "LOST" ;) I totally embraced it and have been here since. It's only been a few short months, and already we've made LOTS of memories. And I've learned LOTS of lessons, like the 5 minute delay on the LB is a GOOD thing . . . and I actually prefer the Linear style of posting . . . it's easier for my brain to keep track of, it's more how I work...several conversations spread out on my desk in stacks, instead of neatly filed away in filing cabinets and threads.

And now I'm a Mod and running Javi Minions (http://www.javiminions.com/) and I am just waiting for the day that I can welcome some n00b and tell them I've been posting here for five years or so since it opened and have them be as impressed as I was and am when I talk to pioneering Bronzers.

And that's my True Fuselage Story.

PS - I did finally finish Angel this past summer!
PPS - I have since returned the favor and turned Brian and his family on to LOST!

That's awesome speaker, I am impressed. I was/am a huge Buffy fan and sadly I never got to watch any of the Angel stuff. I tried the bronze too and it was SO carzy that I couldnt get into it and cut my computer off and never went back on there. So....anyways, thanks for the story! I don't really have one so.........I will go back to reading everyone else's.......Have a good day everybody! ;D

I was super lucky. There were no real complications besides the whole wrapped around the neck thing. My older sister was born a month early, and it was my mother's first child. I can't tell if this is a personal disaster story thread or a how you got to the fuselage thread, so here is both:

Disaster Story:

When I was two I was in a car accident. My Dad was cut off by a semi. In swerving to avoide getting crushed by the semi, he accidently hit a pothole that sent us flipping upside down. I slipped out of the seatbelt and ended up lying on the roof of the car with my right arm hanging out the back window. The car was still sliding down the pavement at that moment, so massive arm and hand damage. I had about 10 years of reconstructive surgery after that. I actually lost the tips of all of the fingers on my right hand. I probably could still gain more improvement in my hand through more surgery, but I decided at 12 that my activities were too improtant to take the several weeks away from them. Everyone in my family survived though miraculously intact too (well aside from my scars and fingertips, but semantics ;D), which is doubly amazing when you consider my mother was pregnant with my sister at the time. I still tease my sister that she is so weird because she was bounced around too much in the accident. ;D

How I got to the Fuselage:

Some one on Farscape's Kansas bboard community mentioned the Fuselage as a Lost site. This was somewhere around the third episode. I didn't go, but by november was curious. I popped in, found the threaded board, lurked a few days, and decided to join. Once I joined, I just kinda dove right in and hoped people would want to talk to me. Lucky for me it is such a nice bunch here. ;D

BurningStar4

Nanse! Wow, what a story!! I'm glad to hear everyone was pretty much okay though!

theG
02-18-2005, 07:25 PM
Yeah, Nanse. That's incredible that everyone survived. Lucky, lucky bunch.

Nanse
02-18-2005, 08:33 PM
Yeah, Even now I still can't believe how lucky we all were. I mean, my Dad had a serious head injury, and he ended up with only some sight loss in one eye. And my Mom? That was the real miracle. My pregnant mother ended up completely unscathed aside from a few cutsand bruises. How amazing is that?

CapnHuFlungDu
02-19-2005, 11:14 AM
Wow that is pretty amazing. The only tragic story I have is that I had to watch my dad die from cancer, he just kept getting really skinny and smaller and smaller and coughed a lot and lost his hair from the chemo and spent a LOT of money on experimental stuff and flew back and forth from texas. And then one day my brother called and said dad couldn't get out of bed so I went to the house and like overnight he had just gone downhill and could'nt get up and couldn't even speak to me, he could only mumble, which was very bad to see because my dad was always a very scary and fussy guy. To see him in the bed not talking or moving was very very sad indeed. And he died the next day. So, make sure when you have the chance to tell someone you love them, do it. :-[

BurningStar4

I'm very sorry about the loss of your father...I have a few friends whose Dad also died in the same manner. It's very sad.

Hattori Hanzo

OK, I don't think it has to be a tragic story, just an incredible one.

Anyway, since Speaker told the story of how he got here I thought I would throw my story in as well though it is not as fancy as his.

I have always been a huge fan of TV but never knew of Fandoms or websites that were uniting the fans of such shows. When I saw LOST I was so floored and had so many things running through my head that I had to do something and so I thought about just going to ABC to see if I could find anything else out concerning this wonderful show. Upon arriving at the ABC site I found that there was a large group of people that were discussing ideas and talking about the show. HOW VERY COOL! So, I read as much as I could and posted from time to time. There were some very intelligent and well spoken people there but there were also BOARS and other YUCK as there was no one to moderate what was going on, not that I even knew what a Mod was at that time. Anyway, it started to become rather unpleasant to visit this board when one day a man who I had never heard of before came to this site pimping a GREAT new site that they just started and he said it was all about LOST and he thought we should go check it out. His name was FURY and he represented himself as such. There were some that mocked him for such a proclaimation but I was intrigued and ventured over to this site called THE FUSELAGE! There was no threaded board at that time so all that we had was the linear board. Now I had never been to any fandom before but I did have a previous experience chatting with friends with a common interest on a linear board and I loved the linear board so to find a place where I could share thoughts and ideas with other lost fans and on a linear board, well I was hooked and have been here ever since!! Thanks Uncle Fury!!!

Ok, 3 other things that I will just state without a story is

1. I have seen a UFO

2. I have seen a ghost or what I would call a ghost

3.I had a spiritual experience in which I believed I was 1 second away from death

OK, Have fun!!

birth story: I'm the good child (well, labor-wise) but the best thing about the birth of me is that my mom was watching the Tonight Show. um.... yea.... So I'm guessing there was a good joke and she laughed so hard I popped out. Something like that.

head-banging story: When I was two I decided I wanted to be like the big kids and skip the stairs. So I was at my grandparents (or my cousins, doesnt matter because they had familiar houses) and i jumped down the stairs. there were only 5 or so and then a landing, and i made that fine. But then I jumped down the rest, which were way more than 5. I ended up with a concussion, and I can still remember crying for my mommy on the last step. I've had several other concussions, but that was the first and the best one to tell.

tragic (yet funny) story: ok, so my Aunt Kay is dying (she's actually my Grandma's 2nd cousin, but whatever) and my parents went to visit her in her nursing home way out in the suburbs for one last time Friday. The nurses explained that they needed to write down what they wanted her to know. My mom attempted to have her hear, even yelling in her ear didn't work. So my mom wrote down her message and handed it to her. After looking at it through her thick glasses, Aunt Kay gave it back to my mom saying "I can't see it, you're going to have to read it to me."

Fuselage story: one day Jesyca and I were talking and suggested we go and take over the ABC Lost boards. So I went and checked it out, mostly lurking. Then I saw the link to here, checked it out, and took this place over instead.

Wow, there have been some really interesting and touching stories(Nanse, I hope your hand isn't still painful and Cap, I'm sorry about your dad). This is a great way to learn a little more about each other :) .

My not particularly dramatic Fuse story--I lurked visited at the LB last fall and went away without posting because I didn't feel comfortable jumping into the conversation. I finally joined the TB this year and was a little unsure about it as well but when I added my first two cents to a thread, Andrea made a lovely comment which truly made me feel welcomed. Be kind to n00bs  !

One of my True and Amazing stories--My car hit a patch of ice and skidded off the road. It wasn't damaged but I was stuck in the snow. A member of the fire department stopped and parked his SUV between the road and my car. He asked if I was okay and then started walking towards another car that had slid off the road. Within seconds, a semi-truck hit the same patch of ice and headed straight towards me. It hit the SUV which stopped less than an inch from my driver's side door. I crawled out of the passenger door and the driver(who was uninjured) shrieked,"I thought you were a goner." If it had happened just three minutes earlier. . .

I have a Fuselage story: one day I saw a link to this site on lost tv.com. I decided to check it out and got hooked. I was sure if I wanted to register or not because sometimes I don't know what to say. So one day, I was talking to my friend who goes here(kilts for boys) and she said I should join. I have a complicated Fuselage strory- I started on the Television Without Pity boards, mostly because of Angel. But then I got hooked on LOST and started posting on the LOST boards.Someone had a link to Livejournal so I clicked on it. I joined Livejournal, though I'm not really into it, and started a search for Charlie fanfic (I know. I'm sad). I found a journal that had a link to a chat board called THE FUSELAGE. I joined because I'm a sucker for LOST (luckily, it turned out better than the Livejournal thing). I was a little confused at first because these boards worked the opposite of the TWoP boards (the most recent post is on the top unlike TWoP where the recent one's are on the bottom) but as soon as I figured that out, I became an addict. I think I had over 200 posts within 2 days.

I have a couple of stories.

First one- When I was growing up in RI, I lived on this big (not incredibly steep) hill. These kids up my street had built a go-kart and were going to ride down the hill. I was on the back (not in, on). I had to pick up my feet at a certain time. When we started going, I put my feet up too soon and was told to put them back down. I fell off and rolled right in front of the go-kart (luckily it wasn't one that ran on a motor). The go-kart rolled over my legs but they weren't damaged. All I had managed to get was a little scrape under my eye (although it did leave a scar).

Second story- This one didn't really happen to me but it is still quite amazing. My Aunt and uncle and their five kids were coming back from looking at a house they were going to buy. My cousin, Sam who is the 4th child, told my uncle to put on his seatbelt. He did so. Not more than 2 minutes later, an 18-wheeler runs them off a curve and they go rolling off the road. Sam, who had fallen asleep with his head against the window, had gotten a major head injury that required lots of stitches. My uncle had gotten any major injuries (unless you value a little bit of your earlobe), the oldest three didn't get hurt at all. My aunt had gotten her hand trapped under the van and pulled it out to reach her kids, ripping her skin and tendents out of her right hand (which was her writing hand). It took a year of physical therapy to get the hand working again. And the youngest out of the bunch, during the crash, had a thing of white powdered doughnuts in his lap. The poor thing was white for quite a while but wasn't hurt. It really was a miracle that no one got killed.

oh do i have a ghost story!!
My mom and I work at the same bar, but my mom has worked there for 8 years. In the time she has worked there, one of the cooks, Scotty, passed away on Christmas Eve about 6 years ago. About 5 years ago a loyal customer, Mark, died suddenly of cancer I believe. After Scotty's and Mark's passings, things started to get a little weird. Doors and cabinets would fly open, bright lights would fly across the room, you know, the general "there might be a ghost in this place" stuff. About 2 1/2 years ago, my mom was closing up the bar, and when she went to lock the doors, she looked through the window, and saw Mark, sitting in his usual spot. She did a double-look, and he was gone. When she told me this, I thought she was full of it. Anyways, I started working there a year ago. The first day I opened the bar by myself, I was in the kitchen. All of a sudden, I heard somebody w/ a deep, gravely voice go "Hello" I hadn't opened the bar yet, but I thought maybe it was one of the owner's friends who had keys to the bar. Nope. Nobody was in that place except for me. A few months later, I was working on a Saturday night, and for being a Saturday night, it was slow as hell. There was a street dance going on at the other end of town, which meant that I'd be lucky to have 10 people show up. One of the previous owners of the bar, Bea, came in and it was just her and I for a good hour and a half. While we were talking, the back door opens. From where I was standing, there was a mirror that lets us see who's walking in through the back door, and I looked up at that. I saw a man w/ a red and black plaid shirt and blue jeans walk in and go straight to the rest room. Bea and I started talking again, and I kept looking up at the mirror, and this man never came out of the bathroom. Bea and I kept talking for a good 45 minutes, and we didn't see hide or hair of this man. A few months after that, I was opening the bar, and I had the radio on. I was getting ready to open, and I went to go turn on the T.V.'s. I grabbed the remote, hit the "On" button. The T.V. came on, but the stereo turned off. I was like "what the...", so I went to go check on the plug ins. Plug ins for both the T.V. and stereo are on seperate walls. I turned the T.V. off, and turned the stereo back on, and did the whole thing over again. Same thing happened again, TV came on, stereo went off. So I pointed the remote at the stereo, thinking maybe that had something to do w/ it. No, nothing happened. I put the remote down and walked away from the stereo, and I didn't listen to that radio for a good few weeks after that.

so yeah i work in a haunted bar. great for me!
