If anyone had a doubt about how "candid", "engaging" and "down to earth" our guy really is, they should really read this interview with him:

http://the.honoluluadvertiser.com/article/2007/Feb/04/il/FP702040319.html

And those who didn't have a doubt, just enjoy his sweet comments and the interviewer's praise. ;)

"He's not a particularly heroic character, but he's brave, in the sense that he never gives up"
We beg to differ, Ian! You are sooooo refreshingly humble!

"He brings a sense of genuine sincerity to the roles, and he's so humble and well-rounded; plus, he's a great-looking guy, with warmth and charm."
Now, YOU, Ms. Rosenberg, have it right!!

Thanks SO much for this article, Lea! It is WONDERFUL!!

*sigh* To be in a room for half an hour with this angel of a human being. . .

Loved it when he said, "The character Desmond is with me all the time." Hear, hear.

Thanks for posting this article!

Soon after, he landed his first professional acting job — as a polar bear in the Glasgow Citizens Theatre Pantomime.

"Gosh, that's so 'Lost'," he jokes, laughing at the parallel to the series' mysterious polar bear. Then he growls, imitating how he once ran around on stage as a "cute polar bear," pretending to scare little children. Was I the only one who went "awwwwww!" at this? :D

"Sometimes it is feast or famine." And right now, he says, breaking out into a big smile, "I'm having a pretty good feast."And that....he's an actor with humanity, class AND good looks! :O

No. If you've seen the podcast interview, he said there that after Orientation he had no idea if he will come back or not. I don't believe they (the actors) usually know anything further than the eppy they are working on. Nobody is safe on this show, but this season he stays. That's what he said, I think. I'm satisfied with that... for now

Yes, I have
And also I know That Michael Emerson was contracted for just few EP's in the begining. So, let's hope for more Des in season 4;)

He said that cuz he was signed to a one-year contract. They will negotiate a new contract/extension of contract toward the end of this season--or after it.

Personally, I don't think Ian has to worry about moving his family away from Hawaii for awhile! :71:

Of course you do. TPTB would be out of their minds to let go an actor like him!

I think that the new characters (not the original cast) have one-year contacts initially, but that doesn't mean that the contracts cannot be renewed.

Exactly, MerryMac!

TPTB are awed at Ian! I just don't see them planning to write him out anytime soon!

And here's a quick little interview with Ian from Jan this year. It was shown on ABC news after ep 7 of Lost tonight.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bj4N69mYW8U

I've sent it to Ian and asked him if it's really true. I can't see how as it just looks too much like the way his grows. (Watch and you'll know what I'm talking about. ;))

Well I am still stunned :eek2: because I think lean beards are very hard to do (I used to do stage make-up) and I've never noticed and well all know that when he's on screen, we look very closely at every inch we can ;) but I just had confirmation from Ian. " 'tis true" he says.
