How did Ben know he had exactly 27 minutes left before he died? and what were the red and green objects on some of the trees as Kate and Sawyer are runnin to the beach?

That whole scene kinda creeped me out.... made me wonder if he was actually unconscious at all during the whole surgery. The fact that he knew exactly how much time he had left tells me that he was probably awake for most of the situation with Jack telling them to give Kate the walkie-talkie...

As far as the things on the trees go, I definitely saw the red ones flash by but I havent had a chance to go back and watch in slow-motion yet. There were quite a few things that I want to go back and look at tonight, and those were among the top so I will let ya know if I see anything interesting...

I really think that he was concious for longer than we think. Just the way the camera kept cutting back to him gave me the impression that he was awake for a lot of the op.

I think he heard most of what went on.

Yeah that creeped me out too. And then I remembered the last time Jack did surgery in there, Colleen died and he looked around for a clock and said "time of death..." and never found a clock.
