BurningStar4 03-01-2005, 01:27 PM PA has the Amish..they're cool clairbabydaddy 03-01-2005, 01:31 PM clairebabydaddy ~ what is your sig?* Is that a song?* Yea, EUROTRIP was the movie and "Scotty don't know" is the song. Matt Damon plays the lead singer in a little cameo appearance, but the song and band (LUSTRA) are real. I love the song and it has one of the funniest lines I've ever heard in it. (Not really appropriate to post with younger eyes on the board). clairbabydaddy 03-01-2005, 01:33 PM PA has the Amish..they're cool The few I've met have all been very nice and they are VERY skilled carpenters as well. It's a real eye opener if you've never seen how the Amish live. They are the original "old school" way of life and the phrase "keepin' it real" definitely applies to the Amish community jme 03-01-2005, 01:35 PM That is a funny sig! I'll have to rent the movie someday. Thanks for the laugh! ;D clairbabydaddy 03-01-2005, 01:39 PM That is a funny sig!* I'll have to rent the movie someday.* Thanks for the laugh!* ;D I HIGHLY recommend the movie. It's very funny. Michelle Trachelle (slaughtered her last name), from Buffy, is in it. Great, Great scene's with the Manchester United Soccer (Football for anyone outside the USA) Hooligans. Stupid funny like the movie Van Wilder jme 03-01-2005, 01:44 PM Cool, thanks for the recommend. I'm always looking for new funny movies to watch. I bought myself a big screen for Christmas with surround sound and now I'm a movie addict. clairbabydaddy 03-01-2005, 01:45 PM Congrats, what size? I got a 51" with HiDef and I'll never ever ever have a TV without HiDef again jme 03-01-2005, 01:47 PM Mitsubishi 55' with HiDef as well. I can't watch TV now without HD. It's so amazing! clairbabydaddy 03-01-2005, 01:49 PM WOOOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO, very nice! Makes TV a whole lot better. I always wonder why it took me so long to get one. (other than price of course) jme 03-01-2005, 01:53 PM Yeah, I absolutely LOVE it. The thing is though, now everyone always wants to have TV parties at my house. ALL sporting events are cause for parties now. LOST, 24, American Idol... any excuse my friends and family can come up with to come watch TV at my house, they use it. They always bring the beverages and chips though! ;D Good thing I like to party!!! :lol2: :lol2: clairbabydaddy 03-01-2005, 02:02 PM Yeah, I absolutely LOVE it.* The thing is though, now everyone always wants to have TV parties at my house.* ALL sporting events are cause for parties now.* LOST, 24, American Idol...* any excuse my friends and family can come up with to come watch TV at my house, they use it.* They always bring the beverages and chips though!* ;D Good thing I like to party!!!* *:lol2: :lol2: Get yourself a velvet rope and start charging admission! :lol2: At least they are bring the food. Now when they call, you need to tell them you need shampoo and other toiletries, a turkey, milk, cleaning products.....etc jme 03-01-2005, 03:08 PM Yeah, I could ask for all kinds of things huh? Well, I'm cool with just getting tasty beverages! ;D CapnHuFlungDu 03-01-2005, 05:18 PM We've got the same kind of t.v. and everyone is always planning the parties at my house. At first I was like "Sure! Bring on the partying!" But now I'm like "OK we can party at someone else's house sometimes too ya know." hehe BurningStar4 03-01-2005, 05:22 PM The few I've met have all been very nice and they are VERY skilled carpenters as well. It's a real eye opener if you've never seen how the Amish live. They are the original "old school" way of life and the phrase "keepin' it real" definitely applies to the Amish community When I was younger we went on a trip to see how the Amish live...I don't really remember much about it but it was a cool experience, I definitely admire the way they live, I couldn't live like they do clairbabydaddy 03-01-2005, 05:32 PM For anyone who doesn't know, it's like being on the set of "Little House on the Prarie" or the movie "The Village". Actually The Village gives you almost a perfect idea since M. Knight Shamalon is a Lancaster PA guy and always shots his movies in PA. BurningStar4 03-01-2005, 05:39 PM I agree The Village did an amazing job....especially when you see the ending!! clairbabydaddy 03-01-2005, 05:41 PM Yea, I had no clue the movie was going that way and that blew my mind. They did a very good job in the advertisements to hide the surprise. BurningStar4 03-01-2005, 05:42 PM I agree completely and was a little ticked that everyone was so "pissed" at the ending, I thought it was original, and way better than a typical "horror" movie clairbabydaddy 03-01-2005, 05:44 PM Yea, I wasn't let down at all. I thought it was a great premise. It could actually happen which is even better. BurningStar4 03-01-2005, 05:45 PM lol! Everytime I drive by a "wooded area" I think of that movie clairbabydaddy 03-01-2005, 05:53 PM I always have an eye open for "Those whom we do not speak of" :lol2: WhiteSapphire 03-07-2005, 09:57 PM Hmm . . . most people are eastern. Can anyone come up with an explanation? K Raid 03-07-2005, 10:12 PM HST - Hawaiian Standard Time ;D Danny 03-07-2005, 10:52 PM Eastern :o :lol2: Indiana here, but sometimes i'm Central which is really dumb. Indiana has the most places in it with different time zones... it's really construed and messed up. "Leave it to the hoosiers to play with time" is a funny phrase used every once in a while out here. We have amish too and i've seen a lot in Ohio which is right next to PA. Go Steelers! It's M. Night SHYAMALAN ;) I"m a big fan haha. Yeah, i'd read a book about it way back in fifth grade that had the same freakin ending! I was like.... i read all this in a book! Total Deja Vu but i really did read that book like it! lol. And i was very pleased with the movie.. it wasn't supposed to really be a horror movie.... it was the advertisers faults for making it look "too scary" you know. WhiteSapphire 03-07-2005, 10:55 PM DON'T TELL ME! I just got 'Village' in the mail today! Hey, Locke, in your part of Indiana, do you have Daylight Savings Time? I thought I read once that Indiana didn't observe it. Or am I crazy? BurningStar4 03-08-2005, 01:49 AM White Sapphire, I hope you enjoy The Village....it seemed to of gotten mixed reviews when it opened...I thought it was a great movie, I just think others couldn't deal with it lol...you'll see what I mean :) sifichick 03-08-2005, 02:02 AM I'm in a time zone all it's own. I live in arizona where we never have to change our clocks. Hiram 03-08-2005, 02:52 AM I may regret saying this, but, you're not crazy WS. I'm in Central! WhiteSapphire 03-08-2005, 07:29 AM I wish we didn't have daylight savings time. It's retarded and it screws with my sleep schedule. :-\ Not that my sleep schedule needs any help being messed up. Grrr . . . Snabbygail 03-08-2005, 09:51 AM I know what you mean. I'm not looking forward to springing ahead. Ugh. It's just starting to get light out now on my drive into work. Soon I'll be thrust back into the darkness. WhiteSapphire 03-08-2005, 11:09 AM I know. Why are they trying to mess with people's sleep schedules? (Like we need any help) I'd much rather be awake while it's sunny out and sleep when it's dark. It works the best that way. Stop messsing with me! *shakes fist at no one in particular* Armenian_Jedi 03-08-2005, 11:11 AM :( There's only six of us in the mountain time zone :( olafandyjon 03-08-2005, 11:59 AM I'm in eastern (Michigan) What IS up with Daylight Savings Time? On the one hand, I like the fact that to me, it signals the arrival of warm weather and longer days. But really, do I need sunlight at almost 10PM? And losing an hour of sleep for no real reason is a high price to pay! Every year, my friends and I try to find something about why DST, and every year we can't find a good, simple answer. I think it had something to do with cows. Snabbygail 03-08-2005, 03:17 PM olafandyjon- I'm in Michigan also. I hate DST. I always thought it had something to do with the farmers. So they could make better use of the daylight hours and have more sunlight to get things done. I dunno for sure. WhiteSapphire 03-08-2005, 03:26 PM I've heard that about the farmers too, but I've always wondered, why would the farmers care? I mean, a long as they got up when the sun rose and went to bed when the sun went down, why does it matter what the clock says? olafandyjon 03-08-2005, 03:28 PM Snabbygail, where at? *I'm in the Detroit area...working in Southfield at the moment. White Sapphire-I'm with you on that, but somehow I seem to remember that they're mixed up in all of this anyway. I'll have to do my annual Google search on DST again...I think it might have something to do with Ben Franklin also. * How is it possible that they've convinced us to collectively give up an hour of sleep anyway? WhiteSapphire 03-08-2005, 03:30 PM Because they promise to give back that hour in the fall. It's not like we're giving it up . . . we're just postponing it. SpaceWrangler 03-08-2005, 03:32 PM I have heard a couple of different reasons. *It changed so in the winter months the school kids would not have to go to school in the dark and in the summer work there would be plenty of daylight to help w/the farming after school..... just what I heard. Snabbygail 03-08-2005, 03:34 PM I'm in Lansing. Pit of hell. Ha ha. Here's a link to a site that seems to have a lot of convenient excuses as to why I have to wake up an hour early. http://webexhibits.org/daylightsaving/index.html WhiteSapphire 03-08-2005, 03:41 PM OK, so yeah, Daylight Saving Time is great. Why don't we just keep it this way year 'round then? Armenian_Jedi 03-08-2005, 03:45 PM I know absolutely nothing about DST. I'm dumb. :( Nanse 03-08-2005, 03:52 PM Wow! *There are a lot of east coasters here. I'm a Pacific girl myself. *I live in good ole Sunny Southern California. * And, it's actually sunny today ;D . *Before anyone says we so. cal. natives don't know weather, I'll add I agree, but it's all relative. *We don't get rain, so torrential rains to us are a signal to start looking out for the four horsemen of the Apocalypse, or at least to start building an ark ;D. Oh, and I agree with however said that it was one of the worst time zones on Wednesday. *Do you all have any idea what kind of temptation I feel when 5pm PST rolls around and all the East coasters are going wild in the live thread? *It's all I can do to stay out and not get totally spoiled. ;D |
