or does it really seem like Hurley likes Claire? Cuz I had thought that at the beginning of the season when Hurley gives Claire an extra airplane dinner, and then when they hear the "monster" and wake up. Hurley had been laying very close to Claire. Then it seemed that Charlie just kinda swooped in and vied for Claire's affections before Hurley got a chance. I stopped thinking this after a while, but then last night's episode brought it back. When he's listening to his music on the beach and his batteries run out. He seems so melancholy, and it seems like the shot of Charlie and Claire in the background further down the beach was intentional to show that Hurley is sad he can't be with Claire instead. He glances over at them a couple times and looks very sad. Poor Hurley! He definitely deserves a little romance. He's such a sweet guy!

I do remember the extra dinner, but I was just thinking Hurley was just being nice and looking out for her because she was pregnant. I never noticed him looking at her any other time, though, I don't seem to catch a whole lot of stuff on the show that people on here talk about. But maybe he is sad because guys like Charlie and Sawyer always get the girls, or maybe it's like someone mentioned earlier that she reminds him of someone back home. Maybe one of the others will fall madly in love with him and convert to good and be with him. Maybe.. :angel:

You know that never struck me before but you might be right! I thought all of Hurley's past gestures to Claire were just him being nice, because he's a nice guy. And when I saw the scene with the CD player I just thought Hurley felt like he hadn't connected to anyone on the island yet. You know, Boone has Locke, Shannon has Saiyde (sorry if I spelt that wrong!), the father and son, Sun and Jin (well... up until then), Jack and Kate with Sawyer tossed into the mix... and last but not least, Charlie and Claire.

But now that you mention it... you just might be right. Or else why would they linger on the shot of Charlie and Claire in the background?

Even if Hurley does have a thing for Claire, I personally think Charlie is better for her. They have a connection and many similarities. Also there was that initial spark where Claire said she felt like Charlie was the only one who didn't treat her like a "timebomb of responsibility" or something.

I'm all for Charlie and Claire though so maybe I'm biased! I remember when Shannon got Charlie to fish for her... I was like, "They better not make him fall for her!" but Claire is such a sweetheart, I adore her!

And again it might be because Hurley has never had a girlfriend, which is possible. Or maybe he has one at home and is missing her. Who knows! But I think Hurly having a thing for Claire is quite a possibility and would make for quite a great storyline... as long as Claire stays with Charlie! :-\

At the very beginning, I was hoping for a Claire/Hurley ship. But alas, I was denied.

If Hurley needs some romance, I am more than happy to provide it! ;D

Lol! Hurley is very loveable! I think he is one of the nicest characters and I hope he finds romance, just not with Claire.... I am such a Claire/Charlie fan!!!

In the first episode, I remember Jack telling Hurley to watch over Clarie. Plus, she's pregnant and he's a nice guy :) not saying the ship is impossible, but Hurley's also been nice to Jin -- Jurley ship anyone?! ;)

I think it's possible that they'll play out the Claire/Hurley/Charlie triangle, but probably more from Hurley's end than anything. Meaning, we might find out he has feelings for her, but I doubt he'll ever express them to any of his fellow Lostaways.

I think he should be made the Godfather of Claire's baby though. I can see him having a way with kids.

The real question is.. is it going to be "Uncle Hurley" or "Nanny Hurley"? :)
