(I'll start this post off by stating that I'm a LLL (LaLeche League) leader and working towards becoming a IBCLC (International Board Certified Lactation Consultant), in addition to being a Lactivist.)

At every LLL meeting, we chat about LOST.* It's the favorite show of many mothers and families -- even families who rarely watch television.* I even know someone who was anit-TV and went out a purchased a television just to watch LOST.* Most of us were drawn to the show because of Claire and her journey into motherhood.* We often wonder/speculate about how you all are going to approach the subject of feeding her infant, especially since the US is a very anti-breastfeeding country and being on network television after that whole Janet Jackson breast flash drama.* Some members joke that a case of Enfami and bottles will wash ashore or be found in someone's luggage or even that Jack will devise an infant formula out of coconut and fish.* Claire has to nurse her baby, right?* So please show it not only as the superior infant food it is, but how it also benefits the mother and the mother/child bond.* Don't be afraid.

Also, Claire can wear the baby in a sling (http://www.happyslings.com/images/layout/seg1a.jpg).* And if you have any questions about breastfeeding or babywearing, I can help or point you all in the right direction.

p.s. Why is Claire putting that baby in a crib?! Things are out to get him or her; the baby should be co-sleeping with the mother (and Charlie, because they are so cute together).

Okay, I sound like a freak, so I'll stop.

no, you don't sound like a freak. while i am pretty sure that a crate of enfamil won't be washing up on the shore, i am not sure how much of our story time will be taken up with the more practical concerns of the baby's diet - we have a hatch to open! that much said, we will cross that bridge when we find it, and i truly appreciate the encouragement and info.

re: the crib. locke made it for her! practicality aside, kindness is not something to be turned away!

best,

I thought you might be too chicken to reply to a breastfeeding question, but you proved me wrong. You rock. I'm now a fan forever.

My parting thought?
