View Full Version : Gods experiment?
The Unnamed Madman 02-27-2005, 01:25 PM Could it not be, that here might have been some sort of nuclear war, and that this is the only safe place to be? Maybe the good ones.....god???....placed them on this island to start all over again? Of course there are forces in movement who want to ruin it all (always), thus "the others".
We have already seen people beginning to "couple up". This would explain the ratio 10:4 in the gender among the 14 main characters. 4 strong women and 10 males....only the strongest/smartest get a lady?
Of course this isnīt it, but itīs a thought. Could also be an experiment by some government who wishes to see what people do in this situation? Or.....or maybe.....no.....all ideas taken....
I have to stop thinking about it cause itīs driving mE MAD!!!
Mallek 02-27-2005, 02:19 PM stop e-mailing my wife it's creeping me out >:( >:( >:(
The Unnamed Madman 02-28-2005, 03:13 AM What???? Iīm not e-mailing anybody? Explain?
Huh? Is this some new slang I'm not getting?
The Unnamed Madman 02-28-2005, 06:16 AM Well he says Iīm e-mailing his wife???? I donīt know what the heck heīs talking about?

This sounds awfully familiar to Stephen King's "The Stand" which there is a link somewhere around here where soem of us have discussed possible links to that story....
Samurai-Luigi 03-02-2005, 05:55 AM A nuclear explosion could explain why the instruments went dead (EMP), but if that was the case, wouldn't the plane have gone down immediatly, not 1000 miles later?
The other question is, how do Danielle, Ethan and whoever else might be on the island fit in with this? And, you'd think the gender ratio would be the opposite.. more females to be seeded by a few males..
Interesting theory though. I've seen "The Stand" mentioned so many times in relation to this show... I suppose I'll just have to read it, won't I?
In the year 2037, Lost will have been found to have increased the literacy rate of Americans tenfold.
BurningStar4 03-02-2005, 02:19 PM Samurai--Definitely read The Stand, but I'd say watch the movie first so you can get somewhat of an idea, just because the book is SO long.
Samurai-Luigi 03-02-2005, 07:12 PM Eh, I used to read 500 page Star Wars books in 3rd grade. I can handle it. I even read the 5th Harry Potter in about 12 hours. No breaks! ;D (yes, I'm slightly obsessive. who isn't on this board?)
However, since I think my dad might have it on a DVD somewhere, maybe I'll watch it first. I guess it depends on whether or not I get the book before I go home for break.
(yes, I'm slightly obsessive. who isn't on this board?)
i resent that ;)
the only issue with using a god would be offending the non-religious.
BurningStar4 03-02-2005, 07:33 PM Samurai--Whichever you end up doing first, let me know how you liked it :) It's one of my favorite stories. And if you ever get the chance, read Stephen Kings "The Dark Tower" series, they are the most amazing books!!
But I think after you either watch or read The Stand you will see many comparisons to that story with this scenario you have come up with.

Oh, believe me I will. "Dark Tower" is another title that's been thrown around a bit in connection to the show, but isn't it like a 30 book series or something? Better get a second job... :P
BurningStar4 03-02-2005, 07:43 PM LOL It's actually 7 books, although when reading it, it feels like a 30 series. I haven't actually finished the whole series yet, but it is really a great story thus far. I think the book that has a really weird connection is book 3 "The Waste Lands" I don't want to ruin the story for you, but some of the stuff that happens or is said in that book is kinda freaky because there were atleast several times throughout the read I thought, "whoa....that sounds like 'Lost'"
Samurai-Luigi 03-02-2005, 07:51 PM Heh, ok, good. 7 is much easier to deal with that 30. :)
I'll be looking for Lost-a-lism's everywhere, so no worries about that.. but I'll pay special attention to book 3.
BurningStar4 03-02-2005, 07:52 PM Especially the VERY beginning of book 3, after reading that, I am somewhat convinced of what the "monster" may be. ;)
