In my opinion, which could very well be right, the people from Dharma are Hindu.
In the Hindu religion, the word Dharma means "Your meaning/duty in life" and isn't that what the Dharma Innitiative is all about?

And also, the black smoke must be a form of Karma(another strong belief of Hindu's), since right after Nikki did that to Paolo, we heard the smoke, and a bunch of spiders came out of nowhere.

(Sorry if there is already a thread like this. My apologies) :)

I am leaning toward believing this as well. Colleen's funeral could have been Buddhist, playing music and cremation. Dharma is a commonly used Buddhist term as well. But I always thought Buddhist belief was based in live and let live, and to not bring harm to others. this is the only part that doesnt jive with all of this

i have always thought the same thing. there are so many religious undertones to the show.

Yea I thought about that too. :)
So then I also thought, that maybe the Others are just being flat out cruel and mean to all the survivors; maybe they're just doing the things they do as a form of Karma.
Since mainly all of them have done something bad in their lives, the Others probably think they should pay, somehow.
