View Full Version : Juliet - Sneaky, Sneaky?
LostKitty 04-05-2007, 08:27 PM Last season I absolutely loved it when they caught Henry Gale. Every moment I was debating whether he was an Other or whether he was being honest. It drove me crazy in the most wonderful way.
Now here's Juliet, and it's the same thing. Is she a spy? Is she genuine?
Everything I read makes me go back and forth on the issue.
So, what's the deal with Juliet?
Sayid doesn't trust her, and he didn't trust Henry.
Ben told Jack that, no matter what he thought, she's "one of them."
How did she end up in the jungle?
strwbrryflke86 04-06-2007, 11:20 AM I really don't know what to think of Juliet. I absolutely love the character, but am not sure whether or not to trust her. She seems to have common goals with the Losties, but her whole situation with Kate this week just rubbed me the wrong way. It also showed us that she can lie convincingly. Hmm...:shifty:
sjb121590 04-06-2007, 02:52 PM I don't know why'd she suddenly do this big plan for Ben (like getting knocked out and pretending to be abandoned) after the sub blew up. He already said that there is no other way to get off this island. Unless he lied, and then told Juliet that she could go home if she did this.
But would she leave Jack behind?
I still trust her.
LostKitty 04-06-2007, 03:40 PM I want to trust her! But she is still lying. She lied to Kate about the cuffs, and she lied about Smokey. So what else? Perhaps she felt that it was the only way. I'm very curious to see what happens when she gets to beach camp!
Save The Humans 04-06-2007, 11:58 PM Don't.
Trust.
Juliet.
But I'm glad her character is there. She's really added to the LOST story!
tiewashere 04-07-2007, 12:04 AM I think she is not a spy becuase when she said, "He said he would FINALLY let me go home." She seemed to want to get out of there and join the losties.

This is why I'm confused. Were it not for Juliet's betrayal of Ben, I wouldn't trust her at all. However, going behind Ben's back and then eventually killing one of her own suggests that she may be genuine. Then again it's just more evidence of her ability to lie. Perhaps Ben's spinal tumor was all part of the elaborate plan...
(I'm kidding in case you couldn't tell)

This is what this show does to me:
On one hand is this: juliet obviously wants to get off the island and back home, back to her sister. She was (probably) tricked into coming and can't get off. So she betrays Ben, then is betrayed by him, and is now with Jack, and is completely trustworthy. After all, she was left by her own people!
The other hand: She still wants to get off the island. The Others just sort of off and left without her, but we're to believe that she was just left in the jungle handcuffed to Kate? And Jack and Sayid are just safely where we saw them last? She is so lying! And Jack is in on it, obviously. Look at the way that they work together.
But no, Jack is our hero. He wouldn't do that! So Juliet is manipulating him.
Oh, but he would be the best person to manipulate the Losties because they trust him.
Hmmm...but that's just way too obvious. No, Juliet and Jack are totally trustworthy and I'm just reading too much into this.
But what about Sayid not trusting her? He was right about Henry....
Stupid show, stealing my soul....
strwbrryflke86 04-08-2007, 11:39 PM The other hand: She still wants to get off the island. The Others just sort of off and left without her, but we're to believe that she was just left in the jungle handcuffed to Kate?
With the keys to the cuffs!!!
But seriously, your back and forth argument hurt my head. I wouldn't say the show has stolen my soul...my mind, maybe?
JeremyBender 04-09-2007, 03:39 PM Loved Juliet in Left Behind. My take:
She really *was* banished by The Others for killing Danny and plotting against Ben. She really *was* making tea when the cannisters came through her window. She woke up before Kate and dragged her to the jungle and handcuffed herself to Kate in the hope that Kate would "become invested" in them helping each other out because she didn't want to be left alone again.
I don't think she's a spy for Ben or The Others--I thought that Not in Portland made it quite clear that Juliet was not One of Them. Ben's comment to John in The Man from Tallahassee about people not being ready to make the "full committment" to being on the Island could easily describe Juliet. I love how Juliet zinged Kate about Kate being responsible for her not being able to go home now (i.e. by bringing Mr. Bomb Everything In Sight John along).
I also loved the annoyed look Juliet gave Kate after flipping her and before saying "I was just bringing you something to eat" while Kate was flopping around like a fish on a line on the floor of the clubhouse. "Enjoy your sandwich" hahahahaha :)
see kate run 04-09-2007, 04:55 PM Juliet is a very intriguing person if you really think about it. When we saw her f/b, we saw a pretty passive person with some good qualities about her. Obviously she was a caring and loving sister to Rachel. This make me wonder what had changed her to be the person that she is now ? Had she been around Ben too much and this is why she manipulates and lies because she was manipulated and lied too ? There could be a slim possibility that she may change once she is amongst the Losties. She could start to grow empathy for them once she has lived in their shoes for awhile. Or maybe she won't. Maybe she has been so programmed to think and act a certain way that she just can't change.
