I just want to be clear that I have this right. Alpert was in Miami, filming Rachel and her new baby, around the time of the 815 crash?

How do you know his last name?

I thought that they had a camera positioned to be able to see a live feed whenever they wanted to.

Well he said "Richard" but he didn't say it was definitely Alpert. I do think it was him, and yes, it was *supposedly* right after the crash of 815. But I don't believe it. Not for a second. I mean, maybe Rachel is alive and that's her baby. Or maybe not. Video can easily be manipulated.

Also we know that not long after that Richard is back on the island, so..... it's all a bit confusing.

Ben did tell Richard to get back asap to the island.

BTW, who is Richard Alpert?

He's the guy that recruited Juliet.

Yeah, it definitely is a bit confusing. I'm assuming it's Alpert, as he seems to do the work between Mittelos in the States and the island. I'm also assuming that he was back on the island so quickly since Ben ordered him back.

BTW, who is Richard Alpert?

The recruiter with Mittelos Bioscience who recruited Juliet, gave her the OJ with the tranquilizer, and was around when they produced Locke's father. The guy with the very long eyelashes. Richard Alpert - who shares his name with one of the original LSD researchers from Harvard.

If that was Richard Alpert, then how is he shuttling back and forth between the island and the real world?? I thought what arrives on the island, stays on the island...

That was after the sky turned purple. This was long before that.

That a good point! Since he happend to be around pushing Bens wheelchair when they showed Locke, Cooper. makes me wonder if he just returned form one of his "trips"! I'm not buying the whole "appeared" from the box crap. Ya Cooper appeared, all Beat up! That box must be hell! That sub cannot be the only way off the island.

I doubt that was his purpose- They didn't know about Locke at that point- he had just crashed on the island. It is possible that after they investigated Locke, Ben had Alpert pick up his dad.

Isn't Juliette's sister in Miami? Isn't Locke's dad the "Man from Tallahassee?" Looks like Richard made a trip to Florida and killed two birds with one stone.

Excellent catch!

What if the island is really just off the coast of Florida? That could explain how easily Richard could travel back and forth from Miami and Tallahassee.

Mikhail's news footage over at the communication station did have a lower third font that said Flight 815 disappeared over the Pacific Ocean though. How could the plane have ended up crashing on an island in the Atlantic Ocean? Hmmmm...

So Richard Alpert is more than just a corporate recruiter!

If it were off the coast of Florida, a good twist would be that its in the Bermuda Triangle. At this moment though, and with the way that they were so secretive in the way that they got Juliet to the island, I don't think they even used the sub. It's a trick.

What they would need to hide, I do not know. If I were to speculate wildly, I would say teleportation (going all the way back to the old Philadelphia Experiment theories with that one! )

If the island were really off of FLorida, the pilot would be correct when he said "they are looking in the wrong place" :undecide:

oh. wait. this makes more sense now. Remember Locke's comment about "winter?" Well it would not be winter in the southern hemisphere. It may also help explain Dr. Arzdt's "new species" interest if he was focused instead on what he expected to see in the pacific ocean. pure speculation of course.
