We know that the Others (at least Richard) had (before the purple sky) the ability to come and go from the island. Richard left to recruit Juliet (Ben said most of the Others had been recruited--somebody had to do the recruiting!), he returned WITH Juliet, he was in Miami when Ben showed her Rachel and her son, he was back on the island when Ben showed Locke his father, etc.

So, since they supposedly have no way to return to the island since the purple sky (ruined the sonar pinging thingy), and no outside communication, wouldn't it be feasible that there were other Others (recruiters) that are now stranded out in the "real" world? What happens to them now???

I get the impression that Ben doesn't care. He's using the Others to get what he wants. What he wants at the moment is to isolate the Island and keep everyone on it. Like the Cylons "He has a plan"

I absolutely agree that Ben doesn't care. He hasn't seem all that broken up over the deaths of his close friends Colleen and Pickett, has he? But I never said he did care--Ben's feelings are irrelevant to this.

If there are other Others out there, maybe they're now working to find another way "back home."
