Was watching Exodus Part One from the back end of season one last night. When the group went to get the dynamite from the Black Rock and they entered the dark territory, Danielle said that this is where one of her team lost their arm. I didnt catch the name but in the Swan Orientation Video Marvin Candle had a fake arm so its possible she and him were on the same Science team (ie.Dharma).

Interesting idea. Danielle said, "This is where Montand lost his arm."
Edit: But the chronology is off. Danielle arrived 16 years ago -- 2004 - 16 = 1988. The film was dated 1980, I believe.

I could see her being part of a dharma recovery team sent to pick up the pieces after the purge, wasn't her team studying time or something like that, that sounds dharma-ish, will we find out what she was doing with the dynamite in the brig, how much does she actually know? she is awesome.

You're onto something with the lost arm. Even if his name was Montand, "Marvin Candle" changed his name from the Swan film to the Pearl film name "Mark Wickman". So we can't exactly trust him on his real name, can we? For what purposes he changes names, we'll have to find out later.
You never know with this show.

Studying time was in the original script by Fury, correct? Very interesting considering that the show has had the fans indulge into many time/alternate reality discussions.

She stated that the only reason they went to the Island is because Her science team heard the numbers being brodcasted and they went to go check it out, They then crashed their boat and where stranded. IF she was to come help the people out the the purge then how do you explaine 1)That she didnt know about the Stations 2)Why would they send a 7 month pregnant woman for a rescue

People have to make a choice: Either they believe Danielle's story about how she wound up on the island, or they reject her story. It is far too easy to come up with a theory and then cherry-pick only the bits and pieces that support it. I am not saying that is what the OP did here, but I have some threads about Danielle's origins that just made me shake my head.
This theory accepts the part of Danielle's story that says someone she was with (Montand) lost an arm. Danielle also said she didn't know anything about the stations the Losties came across, which would mean that she wasn't a member of DHARMA.
Danielle said that the other members of her crew died (and that she in fact killed at least some of them herself). Marvin Candle made the Swan Orientation film with a prosthetic arm. This would mean that he didn't die.
If this theory is to work, it could be ammended that Danielle and her group left "Montand" for dead, but he was found and treated by someone in DI who was still active on the island and still loyal to DI, and then later made the Swan Orientation film. As mentioned by another poster, it will also have to somehow explain the earlier date on the Swan Orientation film, if we are to believe that "Montand" and "Marvin Candle" are the same person. We know that the person in the Swan Orientation film used at least one other name (in the Pearl Orientation video), so the name "Montand" itself doesn't necessarily rule this theory out. The timing of events, however, is a serious obstacle.

Well, I think Danielle has been conspicuously isolated on such a busy island where massive construction projects have been developped and helicopters used to fly over it on a regular basis. So I guess I'm not a believer... however... it may very well be that she lies by omission because she's trying to protect something. Her team of scientists might have been onto something.

The team came for the sounds heard at the Radio Tower, perhaps Dharma has aided them from the hostiles, and Montand could lost his arm at the same place as Marvin Candle.
