Omg I was watching Lost with my Hubby and he reconized the battery that Hurley got from Danielle.
its called a "SINCGARS" ( single channel ground and airborne radio system) Battery. Military uses it and he checked up on it and it was orginally fielded in 1994. He said there was no way that Danielle had it before then unless she was testing it which is very unlikely. Soooo That sets us a time period which it has to be later than 2010.

Unless the props people just picked out any old battery without considering that. I don't think they realize how much we scrutinize everything on the show.

Can't be 2010 because they talk about how the Red Sox will never win the World Series and they just won it Oct 27, 2004.
So this means they took the flight no later than Oct 26, 2004.
I think the writers threw this in to give us a timeline, knowing that it is no later than present day.

Oh that is just too weird. Sept 22 was Bilbo and Frod Baggin's Birthday..and the day Frodo left the Shire. I know that has nothing to do with this but any Tolkien fan would spot that in a minute.

as i have mentionned in the theories board, the Sox general manager that left the Sox in 2002 (and who has recruited the major players that enabled the Sox to break the curse) was name Dan Duquette
it's easy to see the relation between Duquette and Duckett, and the fact that Christian mentionned the Sox to Sawyer might have been pretty symbolic
If they had gone with the Cubs, they would have missed the opportunity to make that kind of names relation

I think the Dan Duquette is a stretch, I just think they were letting us know that the story takes place in the present day. If they used the Cubs, then there would be tons of speculation.

Well I remember when lost just aired and they were talking on it on some show they said the props were VEry well Chosen and that they all meant something.... so why choose a battery that doesnt fit with the date? And it was OBVIOUS what battery it was, so if so many people who are watching are gonna know then that is a major spoof.. The battery was really important in the show...so Whatever.

Well, I would take everything on the Driveshaft web-site with a grain of salt--it was not set up by the creators of this site, it was made my two Dom fangirls.

As for the year, Javi stated that it is indeed the present time. The flight crashed the date of the pilot episode. (So i guess technically it's not now the present day on the island, it's around the end of Oct, because they've only been there just over a month).

Thank you! It seems like Danielle has been scavenging bits and pieces throughout the years. It could have washed ashore or been on a vessel that also crashed on the island. Heck, it could even be Ethan's--we don't know when he came to the island.

Heck this battery could have come from anywhere, for all we know it was already on flight 815 and the French lady found it in the jungle!

I know exactly what that battery was. It is just a simple 12volt 7amp battery. If any of you have a security alarm system, open up the panel and look at the battery, it is the same kind of battery used in many things its very common and has been around for a long time.

Um I think more importantly than the year of the battery is that it's a MILITARY battery....does anyone else think there is a government conspiracy going on? The hatch, the tower, hello?
