View Full Version : What's the over/under on the blond girl in the Looking Glass being named Alice?
Milgram Experiment 05-17-2007, 04:24 PM 3:1 odds? Meaning, thee times she wouldn't be named Alice and one time she would be? Maybe they wouldn't go with a totally obvious reference, though they have in the past. (Desmond David Hume? They want to make everyone who took a basic easy philosophy class in college feel smart.)

You should have wikipedia.org as a search engine for this. She was the main character in Alice in Wonderland. Through the Looking Glass was a "sequel" kinda; I've never read it, but it's a weird tale about reality and seeing through the other side, I believe. Alice was a real little girl the author Lewis Carroll knew, and he made up stories for her, which were eventually written...
South Shore 05-17-2007, 04:33 PM I doubt it actually - unless one of these women ends up becoming a KEY player. As you suggested, I think it might be a bit too obvious. Now . . . the woman who plays sheriff for The Others (who ordered Juliet to be 'marked'), or the woman who was in Flashes Before Your Eyes and in the photo with the monk - she would be a good candidate to be named Alice.
Turn_of_the_Screw 05-17-2007, 04:42 PM Actually, the blonde's name is Bonnie, according to the ABC press release.

Spoiler font, my friend.
mikey_mike 05-17-2007, 04:48 PM oh...i thought that Alice was some back story Lost character that I had forgotten about.
Pythagoras99 05-17-2007, 04:49 PM I think the more relevant question for Charlie is what are the odds at least one of them is a huge Drive Shaft fan? (Is there any such thing as a huge Drive Shaft fan?)
Milgram Experiment 05-17-2007, 04:59 PM Where's that press release, Turn of the Screw?

I majored in philosophy, what does that make me?
Yeah I doubt it since:
Greta and Bonnie are listed as guests on the season finale. So pick one, you have a 50/50 chance.
Nice blanket statement btw in regards to philosophy. Nice touch.
Milgram Experiment 05-17-2007, 05:46 PM Well I have taken philosophy classes too ... yea we're all smart.
I hate leaked information. Makes TV shows so much less fun. I wanted to wait until the finale so I could bet on this. Oh well....
Flotsam 05-18-2007, 12:52 AM Well, that doesn't make any sense. There's no Greta OR Bonnie in the Lewis Carroll stories! How is this possible?!!
The March Hare 05-18-2007, 12:54 AM Not everything has to be a reference to Lewis Carroll, does it?
monsieurxander 05-18-2007, 01:27 AM She doesn't have to be named
Bonnie... it could always be an alias. Remember Henry Gale and "Joe" Inman.
It would be a nice touch if she did end up being named Alice.
South Shore 05-18-2007, 06:52 AM I think we'll have a character that represents Alice-like qualities and dilemmas . . . my bet, as someone suggested in another thread, that our 'Alice' may be reserved for Alex.
I COMPLETELY agree though . . . we don't have to have an Alice, and not everthing is a Carroll reference.
We don't need a Dorothy either, depsite all of the Wizard of Oz references.
