View Full Version : Best Character Interaction of Season 3?
Captain_Falafel 05-19-2007, 07:34 AM Multi-choice vote!
For me the best interactions in S3 have been...
Desmond & Charlie: Just a very unique relationship and mutual struggle. Loved their bickery arguments together with the male bonding and bruthaly moments. I have felt the most sympathy for Des & Charlie and their plight in S3 and I really want them to win against fate. Ian and Dom have been so compelling in their scenes together.
Locke & Ben: These creepy men are so fascinating. They had me gripped through 'The Man from Talahasse' and 'The Man behind the Curtain'. Drew Goddard has been writing them some excellent dialogue and Terry & ME nail it everytime.
Save The Humans 05-19-2007, 07:59 AM Voted for Chesmond, of course! But also for Jack/Juliet, James/Kate, and Ben/Juliet. All of those were OUTSTANDING.
You didn't list Jack/Sayid, and that one's been proven AWESOME since "Left Behind"!!
irish lost fan 05-19-2007, 08:06 AM Desmond and Charlie would have had the best interaction all season but some other characters have had good interaction too like Jack/Sayid, Sun/Juliet and Locke/Ben
Captain_Falafel 05-19-2007, 08:12 AM Whoops! So sorry for not adding Jack/Sayid!!! Slipped my mind. I knew that I was gonna miss a good one like that. Woot! Chesmond voters! I hope they win.
freckles_shephard 05-19-2007, 08:31 AM Sawyer and Sayid and Hurley and Hurley and Charlie.
sjb121590 05-19-2007, 10:21 AM Jack & Juliet: When he's with her, that's the only time I can stand him anymore. They have a great chemistry.
Juliet & Ben: Her last FB episode? WOW. That was intense.
Locke & Ben: They have this weird love/hate relationship. And I love it.
I didn't vote for Charlie & Desmond, like most people it seems, because I just find the whole you're-gonna-die-and-I-must-stop-it boring after Flashes Before Your Eyes. I mean, that's all that is going on between them. Desmond knows something, he doesn't tell him, and Charlie gets mad, then he tells him, and he lives...
Starrox 05-19-2007, 10:40 AM Whoops! So sorry for not adding Jack/Sayid!!! Slipped my mind. I knew that I was gonna miss a good one like that.
Fixed that. ;)
strwbrryflke86 05-19-2007, 11:42 AM I went with Locke and Ben, Ben and Juliet, and Sawyer and Sayid. Those three pairing have made for some of the best scenes of the season, IMHO. I especially love Locke and Ben together.
quangtran 05-19-2007, 12:35 PM Jack and Juliet- I liked their interaction earlier in the season when they were mostly alone together. It would have been better if Jack's protectiveness over her in the later portion of the season was written more believably.
Ben and Locke- They bounced off each other extremely well.
Charlie and Desmond- yes, even though the "whole you're-gonna-die"shickt got a bit boring after a while, their interaction did greatly elevate Charlie's character this season.
~Lirpa~ 05-19-2007, 01:35 PM Locke and Ben all the way. I also like the Des/Charlie interactions. But you completely left out Sawyer and Locke!
Remus Lupin 05-19-2007, 02:20 PM I voted...
Locke/Ben: Who wouldn't vote for those two? Michael Emerson and Terry O'Quinn are, in my opinion, the best actors of Lost and their characters are in my Top 5 of Favorites too. I cannot wait for them to interact in the finale. (<- not a spoiler, I've just got a feeling!)
Sawyer/Kate: What can I say, I'm a Skater. ;)
Jack/Sayid: They both hate each other, but they're still so great together. Love 'em! (I accidentally voted Sawyer/Sayid, but it's OK, because they're great together too!)
JanesAddiction72 05-19-2007, 02:53 PM Ben/Locke - their scenes are jsut riveting.
jellyfrog 05-19-2007, 03:37 PM Charlie and Desmond have the best interaction Lost has ever had, IMO. I'm in heaven every time they're on screen together.
I've also loved Sawyer with just about anybody who wasn't Kate, but mostly Sayid and Hurley.
jennylee27 05-19-2007, 03:44 PM Deciding to leave out the romantic couples (for no aparent reason), I'm going with Locke and Ben (TMFT and TMBTC - gee, those titles are awfully alike, huh?), Sawyer and Hurley (unlikely comic duo) and Hurley and Charlie ("Whatever, I love you too").
Lea_Lost 05-20-2007, 04:43 AM My first vote goes to Chesmond of course. Finally someone calls Desmond "brother" and means it too! That's about the best, more complex and interesting relationship they came up with by now. Not a minute of it was gruesome or boring for me, as they came a long way trough it.
Ben and Locke... of course. Ben finally found his match! I'm so intrigued by it...!
Hurley... with almost anybody. His farewell to Charlie literally made me cry... But his interactions with Sawyer were fantastic... or with Desmond: "dude, I'm not alone!" or "as far as superpowers go, yours are kind of lame" :biglaugh: I'm still laughing!
Captain_Falafel 05-20-2007, 05:22 AM Yeah, Desmond/Hurley are another good one. I've really liked the Des/Hurley/Charlie trio actually. Losts unofficial B-Team! So much more fun than A-Team.
Whoa! Only two votes for Skate? Am I not the only one who has grown sick of Skate in S3? I liked them together in S1, but this year has been Skate overkill for me. I agree with whoever said Sawyer is better paired with Sayid, Hurley, Jin, etc...
Charmedfreak 05-20-2007, 06:45 AM Hurley/Charlie and Desmond/Hurley. I suppose Des/Hurley/Charlie in general.
TheBeastIsMe 05-20-2007, 12:03 PM This was fun, Cappy!
1. I had to go with the obligatory Ben/Locke, because in a perfect world, these two would star in a sitcom together after LOST.
2. Jack/Kate. If only for the miniseason, I still felt that the tension between those two is just crazy, almost in a Jim/Pam kinda way. Her and Sawyer just don't really do it for me. The scene with the wall of glass is my number one reason for picking this one.
3. Hurley/Charlie. If Greatest Hits didn't confirm that these two were made for each other, I don't know what will. Again, perfect world, "Abbott & Costello"-type films after LOST.
I'd like to throw my hat in the ring for Jack/Sawyer (ping-pong, anyone?). Hopefully the finale has a little more of that, because these two could either be a great team or opponents.
Lea_Lost 05-20-2007, 01:38 PM I'd like to throw my hat in the ring for Jack/Sawyer (ping-pong, anyone?). Hopefully the finale has a little more of that, because these two could either be a great team or opponents.
Oh yes! I forgot about them, but they were friends and opponents at the same time since forever! Another complex relationship that Lost is so great at! How come that only the male-bonding type of ships work out this fine for me? :undecide:

Jack/Sawyer are a great combo (I much prefer them to Jate and Skate), but I couldn't really include them for S3 because other than the pingpong they have barely interacted this year.
verily 05-20-2007, 02:34 PM Whoa! Only two votes for Skate? Am I not the only one who has grown sick of Skate in S3?
I admit to voting for Skate. I don't even like Skate or Jate or Jacket or whatever. However, I actually enjoyed how emotionally charged it was and how Sawyer is dealing with being the used person in the relationship.
I also voted for Ben & Locke and Charlie & Desmond. There was a lot of emotional subtext in all three of these relationships. And I eat it up with a spoon. :)
lostlocke 05-20-2007, 03:00 PM Locke and Ben by far. Even though I hate Ben's guts now!!! They have such chemistry together it's amazing. I guess you have to attribute that to the actors themselves too.
Captain_Falafel 05-23-2007, 11:47 AM Well, looks like a draw for Locke/Ben and Desmond/Charlie. I totally agree with these results. Definitely the most compelling inactions of S3 for me.
I'm shocked at how few votes Skate have got?! I personally am sick to death of Skate, but I still thought they were very popular with other fans.
Save The Humans 05-23-2007, 06:11 PM I just think there have been so many powerful character interactions, that poor Skate got lost in the shuffle, Cappy. Also, I suspect a certain number of voters didn't realize they could multiple-vote (there always seems to be, in these polls).
That said, even I didn't vote Skate. I voted for four pairs, and I didn't wanna go into overkill.
Olessi 05-24-2007, 01:13 PM Voted Locke/Ben and Des/Charlie and agree with Captain Falafel's explanations.
Nicholas Kallinikos 05-25-2007, 02:06 PM Jack & Ben totally deserve to be up there.
Captain_Falafel 05-29-2007, 11:14 AM The Results so far...
1) Charlie & Desmond
2) Locke & Ben
3) Jack & Juliet
4) Charlie & Hurley
5) Jack & Kate
6) Sawyer & Hurley
7) Ben & Juliet
8) Charlie & Claire
9) Sayid & Sawyer
10) Jack & Sayid
nonnyd 05-29-2007, 07:22 PM Sawyer and Hurley get my vote. When Hurley hugged him on his return and Sawyer went from "You took my stuff!" to "Good to see you, too, Snuffy" it was priceless. Hurley's attempts to make Sawyer a leader, and Hurley's dominance at ping-pong were lovely. Sawyer hated to say it, but just had to tell Hurley that he thought he'd get them killed if he joined Sawyer and Juliet back to the beach. All their moments were genuine, not like some of the dramatic stuff ("I love you...") we've seen.
But for best sheer comic pairs, I'd pick:
1. Danielle and Alex: "You'd better help me tie him up."
2. Sawyer and Jin: "Those pants don't make you look fat."
tedies 05-30-2007, 11:57 PM Wow looking at all the choices makes you realize how great these characters are and how great this season ended up being. I voted for Charlie/Desmond not necessarily because it was the best but because it was by far my favorite. It also was the most mysterious and will have a lasting effect on the show. Plus the both said "brotha" alot
talliann 06-03-2007, 09:04 AM Voted :D So many good interactin this season!
TRoss 06-03-2007, 10:03 AM I had no clue this section of the fuse even existed. I thought there were just ep threads in the season boards.
Though there were a lot of great interactions, especially Ben and Locke, and the B-Team (though sadly, they're not listed up there as a whole :( ), but we got the most interaction and growth between Kate and Sawyer, and it was lovely. I joined the ship back in season one and never thought we'd get to see it progress this far - I've been surprised and delighted, and hope they keep it up. :)
4815Waiting for disaster16234 06-03-2007, 10:07 AM Everyone and Juliet!
Well I wouldn't say Jack and Juliet were one of the best though, but that's because I'm no fan of Jack's.
Loved the Sawyer & Juliet stuff in the finale and the Kate & Juliet stuff in Left Behind.
And then I just had to vote Kate & Sawye. Do I really need to say why??
Dang, but 3 that I didn't vote for, in my rush (I'm so busy right now), but should have were Locke & Ben, Sawyer & Sayid and Sawyer & Hurley.
By the way that's not character favoritism with all the Sawyer interactions, it had a lot to do with the other character involved and how they work as a pair rather than just picking all Sawyer's interactions...
chasart 06-03-2007, 04:26 PM Locke & Ben, both as character and as actors.
Tom_Zarek 06-03-2007, 05:40 PM I voted Claire and Charlie, Ben and Locke, and other relationship. Even though they had little interaction over season 3 they really stick out in my mind are Juliet and Sayid. Their chemistry I thought was great.
i said, other because i loved the finale with Juliet and sawyer!
lostgurl 06-03-2007, 09:04 PM Ben & Jack
Hurley & Charlie
Ben & Juliet
Richard & Ben
LOCKE THE HATCH 06-03-2007, 09:38 PM i really loved
kate and juliet (especially their woman in chains smackdown)
locke and ben (those creepy crawlers!)
sun and jin (the most under-rated pair on lost)
claire and charlie
charlie and desmond
hurley and desmond
ben and juliet
sayid and everyone else!
nobody voted for nikki and paolo? c-mon!
Diesels Blitz 06-04-2007, 12:09 AM There are so many good interactions its hard to choose just one! I actually picked "other" for Ben and Jack, although I really liked Ben and Locke, Desmond and Charlie, and Sawyer and Sayid. Wow, I guess I like a lot of different combinations!
Kerstin80 06-04-2007, 12:52 PM Locke and Ben has been great, some real highlights of the season. Great writers have produced great scenes between them.
But I voted for Sawyer and Hurley. In between all the tension, mysteries, revelations and whatever else, those two provided such a great relief whenever they were on screen together, it was awesome. Especially Hurley's con. Their interaction was simply great, and the perfect counterpoint to everything else that was going on around them.
MFerris 06-07-2007, 11:21 PM Jin & Hurley.
Honestly, those two should have their own show and shame on the writers for not teaming them up MORE.
-calypso- 06-08-2007, 03:26 PM I voted Ben&Juliet and Kate&Sawyer
The kitchen scene in one of us and the love scene between kate&sawyer in I do are my two favorites scenes of the season!
Foxylover 06-09-2007, 01:50 AM Jack & Kate - very powerful scenes, like the one on the walkie-talkie
Other - Jack & Ben - MF and ME simply rock!
Jack & Juliet - I really liked their interaction, and MF and EM are both amazing.
Locke & Ben - great actors, great scenes
the_roof_is_leaking 06-09-2007, 08:08 AM Locke and Ben.
Brilliant actors, brilliant characters, brilliant story :)
lockeisthekey 06-09-2007, 10:59 AM I voted for Locke/Ben.
I also liked Desmond/Locke (was that this season?) and Desmond/anyone. ;)
Jack/Locke is always a fave as well. Love that.
Foxylover 06-09-2007, 11:35 PM Jack/Locke is always a fave as well. Love that.
I forgot that one. I've always loved their scenes together.
PapaThor 06-10-2007, 01:01 AM Any scene with Hurley and/or Sawyer.
Those two have the most interesting dialogues and exchanges with other people and with each other.
Sawyer: "What the hell ya'll doing?"
Hurley: "What the hell you doing?"
Sawyer: "I'm going to take a leak."
Hurley: "So are we."
Sawyer: "Well alrighty then."
That last line by Sawyer pretty much sums up season 3 for me. I enjoy the show so much more now that I quit trying to figure it all out. After a surprise scene or something weird happens, I just say, "Well alrighty then."
By the way, if you walk around the house saying it about 100 times a day it's a quick way to get people to ignore you. Finally, some peace and quiet.
alvars greatest hits 06-11-2007, 05:45 PM Charlie and Hurley, but they're not on the list.
I LOVED Jack and Ben and Juliet with the Others and I loved Jack and Sayid towards the end of the season.
Gruul 06-11-2007, 06:10 PM Charlie saying goodbye to Hurley, his closest friend on the Island. The one guy that hadn't lost faith in him the whole time. Hurley not realizing what a big deal that goodbye was at the time. I choked up when that happened.
Captain_Falafel 06-11-2007, 07:29 PM Charlie and Hurley, but they're not on the list.
Oh yes, they are!! Just above Jack & Kate...
Charlie saying goodbye to Hurley, his closest friend on the Island. The one guy that hadn't lost faith in him the whole time. Hurley not realizing what a big deal that goodbye was at the time. I choked up when that happened.
:frown: Agreed. I thought Charlie and Hurleys "I love yous" were more heartfelt and convincing than any of the "I love yous" in the love triangle storyline...
YellowTang 06-12-2007, 12:08 AM I hate how I always do this. I voted once, not knowing it was multi. :shakehead:
lostinlaf 06-12-2007, 05:56 PM I chose Desmond and Charlie, but Ben/Juliet or Ben/Locke were also runners up...I just love any scene with Ben in it, so I guess I'm prejudiced.
