View Full Version : One missing bullet...

The gun that Locke was going to use to commit suicide was a six-chambered revolver. Five of the chambers had bullets in them, one was missing, presumably spent. Now, keep in mind that "Roger Workman" was thought to be some random, meaningless character and turned out being Ben's dad; the writers love to do things like that, to have everything, even trivial things connected.

A lot of people have pointed out that Roger Linus' body had a bullet hole in it's skull. That leaves us with two options; either the body with Roger's clothes on it found in the Dharma van isn't really Roger, i.e. that somebody switched places with him, or that Roger wasn't killed by the gas, and was in fact shot in the head. Erm, it could just be a prop error, too, but let's ignore that possibility for now ^_^

Anyway, given all the connections the writers slip in, how much do you want to bet that Locke's new revolver, the one with a single bullet missing, was used to put a single bullet into the skull of the man in the Roger Workman suit? Wouldn't that be brilliant? What do you think? Agree or disagree and why?

I thought that Rogers corpse was normal and it was one of the corpses in the Dharma mass grave which had a hole in it??

Yeah, it was just a random body in the mass grave, not Roger. He was in the Dharma van.

I'm no gun expert but from what I've seen in many, many TV shows and movies when a bullet has been used in a revolver such as the one seen in the pit in TTLG, there is still a bit of the bullet (like a shell) left in the chamber which has to be removed when re loading the gun. So I think that there were only 5 bullets put in the gun in the first place :)

I heard before that in 6-shot revolvers, some people recommend leaving one chamber empty...the chamber directly under the hammer while the gun is not in use, holstered, whatever. Then, if there is any jostling or big bump, the hammer won't bounce and accidentally strike a live round. When the person wants to shoot something, cocking the hammer rotates the cylinder and puts a live round in line with the hammer. Then after that bullet is spent, it remains in the cylinder and becomes the next "safety" spot in case the hammer jumps accidentally, etc etc etc...

I'm pretty sure that was Ben's gun anyway. He dropped it into the pit after shooting Locke in the gut. That would explain the one missing round.

ummm, no. The gun that Ben used to shoot Locke was the same one that Alex gave to Locke. Ben picked this gun up in Jacobs shack when Locke dropped it during the meeting with Jacob. The gun that Locke has now is one from a dead DHARMA worker in the mass grave.

actually I think Ben grabbed the gun right when he told Locke he was smart enough to avoid being in the ditch. That got Locke suspicious and right when he turned around, ben grabbed the gun and shot him. island jedi reflexes or something.

I don't know........the video looks like Locke reaches for his knife immediately. If he still thought he had a gun in his back pocket why would he reach for a knife?

Because Locke feels the same way about technology as Jacob does.
