View Full Version : LOST Whippersnappers: Get Off My Lawn! (LOST addicts aged 18-34)

This is the group for the other part of the all important demographic...we are 18 to 34...
We have "hip lingo" and unintelligible music. We grew up on Ninja Turtles and Nintendo. College, grad school, or just young working adults, we are the Whippersnappers.

So plop down on our supercool futon, move the pizza boxes and LOST DVDs that have somehow ended up box-less and strewn, and share your day on the interweb.

(Thinking I was clever and original, I thought of calling us the whippersnappers, and then read the Council of Elders first post, and realized they called the 34 and under 'lagers whippersnappers. So much thanks to pacejunkie for that.)

Ever thankful for our Elders...
Especially the following, for their sagely interjections:

Okay, I'm officially joining, but feeling like I'm way to old to participate based upon the invite post. I think those of us born in 1974-1979 may struggle to relate to those born in 1985-1990.

For example, those of us born in the 70's didn't grow up with Nintendo. It was Atari for us and we only had like three games (and when I say "we" i mean the one kid in the whole neighborhood who actually had an Atari box). We had to play outside and read books to pass time (gasp!).

And I'd venture to guess most of us over thirty wouldn't sit on a futon if you paid us (terrible lumbar support), would never put a pizza box anywhere but the kitchen counter or table (because the dog would get it), and keep our Lost DVDs nicely packed up in the original cases.

But great thought! Have fun!

I never had nintendo... or atari... nor was I interested... I think you might be surprised sandiego about the level of maturity in some of our younger posters.. I am 25, but I like to hang out both with the members of the site that are 40+ and 20-... Internet is great like that.. :) I can't wait to get this group going at least... I'm all ready for it!

Myha!!! You speak to people under 20!?????? :o

And i agree I talk to kids as young as 11 and people as old as 40+ too

Well, I guess I'll join. I've always been envious of the elders thread. I lurk in there all the time, so maybe here I will actually be able to say something and not feel like I am intruding on our oh so wise elders!

let me clarify i'm not at all making a judgement on the maturity of the younger posters, just on the cultural experiences that were referenced on the invite post. i'm sure quite a few of you twenty-somethings are more mature than i am!

Ah I see :) I'm sure there will be lots of opportunity to talk about your references in this thread too. There are more than one of you who is born in the 70s

We need a topic.

topic.. topic topic topic... How about:

What are you doing this weekend??

I'll go first.

I'm going to go to musical practice both Saturday and Sunday, not sure if that is a good or a bad thing right now... I'm tired of the whole thing. it's just the concerts that are fun... Other than that I have a whole pile of workbooks to correct for a ton of 16 year olds who have been writing about customs and food within the different religions.. yay...

so my weekend will pretty much be zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz except that I get to wear funky sexy pirate wench costume for the musical rehersals!

just turned 28 so yeah, definitely some differences between us and peeps born in the 80s... started off with atari as well... the days of a stick and a single button... probably caught some shows that some haven't-- remember Fall Guy and Perfect Strangers? best theme songs...

Just poking my head in the door to say congrats on the new thread!
Y'all actually have the advantage on us elders - You know you're gonna wind up elders eventually, so you can aspire to it...but we elders will never be whippersnappers again!
Ahhh...to be 21 again!

Hehe, any nice/bad dreams you would like to share?

I generally don't remember my dreams until a couple of days later, but I had this reaccuring dream last night that I haven't had in forever. The dream (it is more like a nightmare for me) is that I am still in school, either high school or college. This time I was back in college, about to graduate and suddenly I remember that I have a class that I haven't attended all semester! Which means I am going to fail and not graduate! I have had this dream for years and I figured that after I finished all my school I wouldn't still have this dream. But I have been out of school (and I graduated!) for almost two years now. So I don't know why I am having it again. Maybe because I am thinking of going to grad school.

So I've gone off spoilers coldturkey for the last two weeks before the new season starts. Anyone else going spoilerfree? I didn't realize how much time I spent in the spoiler section before. Most of my time was spent in there and now I don't know what to do.

i admit that sometimes its hard to control my curiosity.
but i too, have been spoiler-free for this season. (YAY for us! ) the only "spoiler" i read is the one about episode titles. LOL ..

Warne
01-19-2008, 08:19 AM
I actually read one spoiler by mistake, fortunately it was nothing major. The excitement for the new season is so much bigger when you don't know whats gonna happen.

Ive also seen the teasers for S4, if that counts as spoilers...

Sawyers Mojito
01-21-2008, 07:19 AM
I quit spoilers 3 weeks ago. I hate being spoiled really during the show. I wanna have those OMFGWTH moments all season long! I havent read any big ones at all anyways :D

Laurenheartsyou
01-22-2008, 03:06 AM
yeah i'm not a big spoiler person. i've seen a few...but i don't actively search because they just confuse me more, quite frankly. it's funny though because i remember right before the find815 game started i was poking around the spoiler threads...and then the next day...the flyoceanicair site was up and then the day after that, find815...sheesh.
now i'm converting 2 of my friends to LOST and they love it...we've been watching S1 every evening for a few days. we watched 2 full discs last night, but only 2 eps tonight. it's weird knowing what's going to happen, yet being really surprised because you noticed things, small things, that didn't seem so meaningful before...for example: i freaked out during walkabout because i thought the detail of locke's shoes never being worn...their soles looked new in the closeup...and i was really impressed by the care the writers and prop masters and directors take. of course i squealed when i saw the shoes and my friends had no idea why, so i had to wait the whole episode before i could explain why i reacted that way.

i have a 9:30 class tomorrow...or rather today...boooooo. lol it's intro to archaeology, and therefore cool, but i should probably get some sleep. night, all!

That is the thing why I love LOST - tell me how many series can you watch again (multiple times) and every time you notice a new detail which you've never noticed - and it just makes you realize how brilliant the series is build up. You get this feeling that everything, every small detail, every scene is there for a reason, that it was all planned from the beginning, to reveal its true purpose later on - its just so amazing.

same here!! I notice all sorts of connections and stuff I Didn't get at all first time through XD

I think I've rewatched S1 straight thru 3 times and S2 4 times and S3 once (on dvd and another on tv)
100%
