View Full Version : Did anyone know?
My What 10-31-2004, 04:53 AM Did anyone know Michael was Mercutio in Romeo and Juliet?
He was awesome in that movie.
I am not sure what to think about Michael in Lost yet though. He almost seems pointless at this time. I hope Michael's flashback gives some good insight to what the audience can expect from him. I think Michael needs to start paying a little more attention to Walt and stop running into the jungle risking his own life. No need for Walt to lose both his parents even if Walt is not close relationship wise to Michael.

I guess they´ll get to him sooner or later, as they´ve done with Kate, Jack, Locke and the Koren couple.
flysail 10-31-2004, 11:45 PM He is the most useless character for me thus far. Unless he really kidnapped Walt, I would not be upset to see him get kicked off the show. Viva la Claire.

I agree he is sort of pointless to the audience but he is contributing to the survivors on the island by cutting wood and trying horribly to catch a boar. I hope Michael did kidnap Walt so the members of this site have more topics to talk about. Plus Michael kidnapping Walt will put a weird twist on the show. When you say "kicked off", do you mean "Survivor" style or the writers killing Michael off?

No way! They are all a team, you can´t remove anyone. And btw he is the "only" brother in the show and I need someone to relate to ;)

He is not the only "Brother" in the show. He is however the only "brother" in the present main cast. Look in the backround my friend, there are other black men.

More useless than Shannon? All she has done is sit around and whine.

Right now Shannon is there to look good for the camera and be a character who the audience is familiar with so when she is killed the audience has something to talk about. Notice there is not much talk about the girl who drowned. This is because the audience has know connection with her and can not relate at all.
kingpause 11-06-2004, 12:14 AM Hey, he's the one who told everyone where to dig, plus there's obviously an alliance developing between him and Sun.
I didn't think about his having possibly kidnapped Walt, but I think that would be an excellent twist.
Shannon is far and away the most useless of the heretofore introduced principles. Pfft, she speaks French. Bulls**t she speaks French.
I saw Harold Perrineau in a play called "blue/orange", and he was extraordinary. He was also apparently very good in HBO's "OZ", a show which I could never get into.
My What 11-06-2004, 12:39 AM The comment about Michael being irrelevant was before the episode where his years of construction knowledge came about. Does this happen in real life, where in a happening there is at least one person..... wait new thread in chit-chat about people being able to do one thing.

I was very happy when I recognized Harold (michael) in Pt 2 of the Pilot....Mercutio! His performance in that movie was terrific - made me remember who he was the moment that I saw hi! "Young Hearts, Live Free" WOO HOO!
I do hope Michael gets on the ball with this kid-rearing thing...needs to put his son first, which he is not used to, since he was never a real dad before.

cashmere lady 11-24-2004, 09:05 PM Michael kidnapping the child... haven't thought about that wild theory...
But here is another possibility: :excl: what if Walt gets kidnapped by the Others (whoever they are ). Another possible twist. Michael might come out in a new light.

I am hoping he steps up to the plate too. It really made me kinda sad/mad when he was playing golf and Walt mentions he wants to play and Michael is all oh thats good, I gotta go its my turn to play. That would have been the ideal moment to be a good dad. Anyway I know he'll be put in a situation sooner or later that will make him realize that he needs to be a good dad. So I guess we'll all wait till it happens.
kaidysoft 11-29-2004, 03:38 AM Hate seeing him in such a dead-beat dad stereotype - hopefully his/their backstory will show that he wasn't a bad guy in the situation, or he was attempting to redeem himself - cause he's not doing very good on the island as far as that goes!

pikameta 11-29-2004, 04:31 AM from what I gather, Michael hasn't been around at all in Walt's life... so it's not like it's gonna be an overnight thing where he is super dad and can be a wonderful father to Walt... what he's probably going off is the basics (don't talk to strangers - i.e. Locke) and what he knew of his own father ( which could be nothing).
and also - the actor played Link in the last two Matrix movies...
Lost_In_New_York 11-29-2004, 04:03 PM My guess is that the producers didn't want to show Michael and Walt's story too soon for fear people will think the show is a "black show." I'm sure that, if they'd showed their story in the first or second ep, at least some people would think this and stop watching. It's a shame they have to do this, making the Michael character look useless at first so they won't lose viewers. Anyway, just my opinion.

I don't personally believe this is the case. I think that they didn't show that story early because they wanted to show how Michael is trying sometimes and failing at other times, without us knowing exactly what their story was. I think it's going to be a stronger episode later on because we've seen how they interact for a while, and now we'll get to see where it's all coming from. Hopefully this episode will also lead to Michael taking a serious look at what kind of father he's been so far and trying to make a change for the better. Just MHO.

Well, judging from the posts in this thread, it's not working. I guess people aren't interested in "how Michael is trying sometimes and failing at other times, without us knowing...."
banksy 01-07-2005, 04:04 PM he was excellent as mercutio in romeo and juliet!!!
i hope we see more of this character. he seems interesting so far :)
Alden 01-13-2005, 01:27 AM Speaking about Micheal as a character, I'm more interested in him because he's one of the only characters who actually dislikes Locke, as opposed to being 'saved' or 'helped' by him. It also fits into my Evil Locke theory, but since this is the Micheal board I won't expand. Anyway, Micheal is a neat charatcer. I've liked him so far, and the scene from the trailer for next week's ep where he tells Locke to stay away from Walt is too cool.
