The original Council of Elders thread was created by pacejunkie in Fall, 2006. It is my great honor to bring us into the 4th age of this thread. *tips hat to pj*

*wheels in* :whlchair:

*adopts best old geezer voice* Look at all these young whippersnappers. It wasn't like this back in my day with the internet and message boards, your fancy iPods and streaming media. I was born in the 1960's when music was music, you played it on a phonograph, you listened to your pocket transistor and watched Batman on your 13" black and white TV. It was good enough for us! We loved it!

*ahem* Welcome to The Council of Elders, the group for Lost fans age 35 and over. You know who you are, so come and join. You remember eight track tapes, Donny and Marie, leg warmers, pong, Schoolhouse Rock. Maybe you watched the Monkees when it first aired, maybe you saw it when it reran on weekday afternoons when you came home from school. Either way, there's a place for us here!

So if you sometimes fret because you feel older than the combined age of every PB&J shipper on Lost Forum, you pull your hair out (or what's left of it) when someone says 'Cheech who?', then this is where you need to be.

Please state your age and then wear it proudly! :)

Need to update your resume girlfriend, you have TRUE power now. (Nyet ha ha) you are the head of the Elders. Well--methinks that in truth the head of the Elders is balding, gray and forgetful, but hey! You're the big cahuna, our queen, you must graduate from tiara to crown....note to self...go to Burger King, get a crown, send to Ame:biggrin:

No, we learned no jumping last time, we almost put BDs eye out!:shakehead: What good is a one eyed cop?

So, there!Well then, Missy I-Can't-Share-Alot.... I'll make up my own Councilwoman outfit then - and I don't need your stinkin' whip!

I'll wear my sequined tube top, tiara, crown, white Painter's Pants circa 1979 (with afro comb in back pocket - the one with the "Black Power" fist), LL Bean hiking boots, snowshoes, and fur bikini. (But can I borrow those boots? They sound faaaaaaaaaabulous!)

I wish painter's pants would come back into fashion--they make your waist look small and your backside look good--well, I guess that was back in highschool huh? Might look like a white barn these days!

Good to see Knut Ame. Like your new tagline, I guess you heard that another big one is coming your way--Defcon 5? Maybe you'll get a couple of snow days from work if you get another big one! (Pollyanna Florida)

Honey, those are some FIERCE boots!! Way to go, CL! Don't wear your tube top, girl, when you're wearing those boots. Both clothing items require a lot of concentation to make sure things are going right. You'd be concentrating on not breaking your neck in those boots and POP! there goes BD's eye or somthin'!

CrazyLatin007

Then, you deserve one of these, CL!! :ntworthy:

I learned a long time ago how to walk in very high heels and I have pretty strong ankles but I believe I would end up "falling" out of my shoes for a while with those. ;)
I quit wearing high heels back in my early 30s after my sister had to have foot surgery because she had worn heels daily for years. I don't remember exactly what the name of the problem was right now but I can tell you that after seeing her feet, I didnt want heels on at all! Now, I wear them for special occasions like the other night when we went to our son's play premiere and I do just fine. But, they are only about 2½" high. Just enough to give me lift and make me feel like I look nice and not frumpy. (I am sure the guy Elders a loving this discussion! ) Most of the time, it's Reeboks because they have a great instep support.

CrazyLatin007
01-31-2008, 04:19 AM
Being 5'2" I learned a long time ago to handle myself in heels. I can't even kiss a guy properly if I'm not lifted up  .

But I don't wear them every day. I have more sensible ones for the office. And since I don't do much walking in the office, I'm generally fine. Mocassin style with a 2 1/2 heel works well. Formal and comfy. I wear mostly pant suits, so, they go well with that.

Boy, can anyone tell it's almost 4 in the morning? We're talking shoes and outfits... He, he

CL Wickedly cool boots. Tube top maybe, but you don't need a tiara with those bad girls. Too much cognative dissonance.

GUINNIE Once I made my peace w/ being taller than 80% of the population I got hooked on HIGH heels, just am a shoe junkie in general. No can do anymore. A while back I wore a pair of sandals with a modest heel to walk around the mall for a couple of hrs. I could barely move for the next few days. The joys of elder joints.

Oh no. We thot Lost was just going to be a repeat of last season's finale, didn't know there was going to be additional stuff so we didn't watch since we had just finished up the DVD set a couple of weeks ago :wallbash:. That'll learn us

Off to work today for almost the whole day. Haven't been able to say that in quite a while. Looking forward to it AND it's not boring old classroom stuff.

Good to see Knut Ame. Thanks LID.. I missed Knut, and it's kind of a nod to STH as Lost starts up again.. Besides Sarge was scaring me.. ;)

Like your new tagline, I guess you heard that another big one is coming your way--Defcon 5? Maybe you'll get a couple of snow days from work if you get another big one! (Pollyanna Florida)WHAT?? I didn't know that. Yesterday we had rain which promptly turned to ice.. Delivering groceries and stuff resulted in me almost falling three times.. I started cursing and yelling at the last one - kinda wrenched my back.. (happy my aunt's neighbors didn't call police on me  ).. LID, I'm really trying to be your northern Pollyanna counterpart, but I'm wearing a bit thin here.. Send some rainbows my way when you can! No snow days for me.. I'm officially the only family member here up and running... Everyone else is sick, unable to get out, just out of the hospital, housebound, etc... Must... keep... going...

CL Wickedly cool boots. Tube top maybe, but you don't need a tiara with those bad girls. Too much cognative dissonance.

Thanks, Tugs. It was an impulse buy, but boy, do I love them! They are more comfy than they look too. I think I'll wear them today, in honor of Lost (and Dr. Jack) returning.

Oh no. We thot Lost was just going to be a repeat of last season's finale, didn't know there was going to be additional stuff so we didn't watch since we had just finished up the DVD set a couple of weeks ago :wallbash:. That'll learn us

From what I've read elsewhere in the Fuse, Tugs, you didn't miss much. The quotes were sort of silly for us uber fans, they seemed to have been designed for entertainment purposes and to catch up new viewers (They had a quote appearing in the first shot of the funeral home explaining that it was an anagram for Flash Forward, and they put a quote under the Ben-Danielle-Alex scene along the lines of "the best way to have a family reunion on the island is for mother and daughter to tie up the adoptive father").

Most people were making fun of it, so, I don't think we missed much.

Off to work today for almost the whole day. Haven't been able to say that in quite a while. Looking forward to it AND it's not boring old classroom stuff.

Hope you have a GREAT day!

25 DAYS but whose counting?

You are such a dear person Ame, truly good! Keep on swimming sister! I am sending you rainbows and sunshine and lots of hugs:hug:

I'm not sure if the storm is rain or snow to tell you the truth. I read a headline yesterday on AOL that said some big storm from the west was heading to the Northeast. You would have heard if another snowstorm was coming to smack you, so it was probably just a rain storm, tough northerners like you laugh at rain!

Be careful in your rounds of mercy tonight girl. I hope God will bless you abundantly! When you get home, turn on your fireplace, snuggle under the comforter with a cup of skim hot cocoa and enjoy LOST!!

Do you guys want to know what happens when you are sleep deprived? You do crazy things, that's what. Which crazy things, you ask?

Well, I let the people of the basement convince me that I should enter the Miss Fuselage 2008 Contest (yeah, I know.... it's a very naughty place down there), and there I am! Soooo, since last year we got an elder elected Mr. Fuselage, I say this year we get the Elders BOTH crowns.

You need to sign up here (http://www.thefuselage.com/Threaded/showthread.php?t=87037) in order to vote.

My strategy is to let my voters speak for me (I think that will impress those who don't know me), so, I've already asked my campaign staff to start working on the introductory paragraph, but I would also like to ask you, Esteemed Elders for your contribution.

What would you say to a possible voter to make him choose me? PM me the answers, so that other contestants don't get a peek at our campaign.

Let's show the whippersnappers what we're made off!!

Awww, thanks LID.. You're right about the storm - sever weather alert... 6-10 inches, followed by ice.. I'll turn on the fireplace (lol) and snuggle under my favorite quilt..
Sorry Kiddo, I was hoping I was wrong! Think of how beautiful it will be with a nice new blanket of snow, think of how many calories you will burn shoveling that beautiful blanket of snow, think of how great your rear end will look in a pair of painter's pants after this long cold winter:biggrin:

My excitement is growing the closer we get!
I gotta work tonight, but the VCR is set...the snacks are bought...all I gotta do is GET THROUGH THIS NIGHT!
Probably wont get home 'till 2:00 or 3:00 A.M., but I"M ON VACATION TOMORROW THROUGH MONDAY!
Dont expect me to log in 'till sometime tomorrow!
Y'all have fun tonight!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Go Tom! Have a FANTASTIC time LOSTing.

My lil DIL had a nightmere last night that someone was scratching on the window to get in to steal his sisters. Turns out those evil rats with bandit masks were out there last night under the window tearing apart a pool noodle! :ranting:

Strange thing--news helicopters have been flying over my house for an hour now (maybe looking for a good racoon news story) and the police don't know what is going on--never a good sign. SO even though it is beautiful here, mid 70s , sunshine, kids are locked inside! I'm a little more nervous today then usual because of the dream.....:frown:

LiD.. Thanks for blowing sunshine up my arse... errrrm.. those kind words of encouragement... you're so sweet.. Eeek, the raccoons are now taking over the LID dreams!! Sounds like something out of Stephen King... Hope the helicopters are nothing.. Around here (woods) it tends to be the police searching for people growing pot... In the summer anyway

CL - I'm so glad you took my suggestion and are running for Miss Fuselage 2008! (don't hate me!) I will support you in this race and do my very best to bring you to victory.. I just PM'd my endorsement to you..

ELDERS - let's all help CL bring the Miss Fuselage crown to the Elders! Last year we helped bring BD to victory for the Elders, now CL needs us..

GO CRAZY IN '08!!!!

CL--I tried to post earlier but the 'Lage was locked up for me--maybe getting temperamental early!

Ame and BD can tell you what to write, I would advise you to post some pix--that one where you are wearing that dress where your waist is teeny tiny and your attributes are abundantly overflowing  would be a great one--also a shot of those killer boots--maybe in fishnet stockings! I saw that pix when I was looking at the boots from last night--maybe from Spain--the one at the wedding isn't too shabby either!

Never been through one of these elections before....How do we signup to vote? What can we do to help?

Ahhhh ame--I wan't blowing sunshine up your arse--it was the warm winter wind from Florida going up your arse.....:harhar1:

Yup, that is the case...

So yeah, we're going to have to ask that the guys step up and support CL in her race.. There's also Vray_Foy... johnnywishbone.. Eric Gunn....

Well.... we ladies can't vote for CL unless we run in the race.. I'm thinking we ENTER the race but shoot ourselves in the foot: We'd submit "our" pictures (but they'd really be pics of strange-looking women) We can berate the competition... Heck, even berate the people voting.. Ya know, kind of like Speaker's campaign last year.. he he

Here's the picture I'd submit (http://www.sitcomsonline.com/boards/attachment.php?attachmentid=97938&stc=1&d=1126505447)-the lady who had so much plastic surgery - she now looks like a cat.. ;)

Well, I just posted that at least for People's Choice everyone should get to vote, we'll see how that goes.

In the meantime, you guys can support me in the thread, making a case for me with the male posters there. I'd expect the votes of all the Elder men.... right? And they don't need to run for Mr. Fuselage to vote.

You can also support me by adding a link to your siggy, with ame's brilliant campaign slogan. She should do this for a living!

ame en peine
02-01-2008, 11:01 PM
Jelly shoes... they were terrible!

I remember going to the gym in those days, and the women were dressed up like hookers! Gold or silver bodysuits, with big belts (at a gym!), metallic braided headbands... and those darned leg warmers... (I had a couple of pair myself.... )

*blasts "Tainted Love"*

TabbyRasa
02-01-2008, 11:04 PM

:peek: I see we can post again in here!

:Welcome: LostApril! You're gonna have a good time here. ;)

As far as the Miss Fuselage thing goes, I thought we were signing up to vote. I hope I didn't inadvertently throw my hat in the ring. For one thing, I'm a Mrs. and proudly so. For another, I would never run against by Elder buddy CL!! I'll get your campaign thingy added to my sig, CL. I didn't know we could do that.

Leg warmers...I found some at Claire's this year at Christmas on sale 2 pr for $10 and I bought a pair for me and one for my mom. I figured it would help keep my ankles warm and I could wear them under my pants - not on the outside like in the good ol' days! :wink3: They work like a charm and, when I feel a Flashdance comin' on, I'm already half way dressed for it. I know, I'm silly.

Thank you all for the warm welcome!!

I have been seeing people wearing the big fat belts over the long sweaters lately. The 80s coming back into fashion is somewhat frightening for me. I can't do the big hair so much these days.

Anyone see that commercial for the singing greeting cards? The one where the couple in the car have an 80s hair metal flashback. The dude's spandex pants freak me out.

Totally gag me with a spoon. haha!

Oh God! It's his hair that freaks me out but I love that commercial!! As far as big hair and belts over sweaters go, I didn't follow fashion all that much then and I darn sure don't now. Thank god! Welcome LostApril--you little puppy!

HI Guin, hi MOC, I missed you all!

Mr. DeLand and I went out to dinner and the ballet tonight. The ballet was a blast--ever think you'd here THAT about the ballet? It was Pirates of Penzance. So funny, almost a ballet farce, they had opera singers in the audience, ballet keystone cops, ballet pirates doing the wave and the white's mans dance....it was really funny!

Ah...THANK YOU...I've been wracking my poor old elder brain about it...it's SUCH a hilarious (yet somehow tragic) story...hehe.

It reminds me of the ONLY time I got to go to horse camp...and on the day of the trail ride, there weren't enough horses to go around, so a couple of us had to go canoeing (including carrying the canoe to the next river access, there's a word for that, but it has been suppressed from my mind, under the devastating, heartbreaking pain of not getting to go on the trail ride).

I cried bitter tears into my pillow every night until the camp week ended...

Hey April--did you know we have a dress code here at the Elders thread?

Does it include jelly shoes?? I might have to go all hippie & not wear shoes at all if that is the case. Or I could wear Keds that don't match. What about those rockin wedges? I will be needing to invest in tube tops. I already have a cape (seriously, my hubby made one for me that is purple velvet on the outside & purple silk on the inside..I dont get to wear it much though).

You will be needing a tiara, an alzheimer's hat, a tube top with sparkles (but no jumping, we almost put BDs eye out) shoes are optional, but I would advise you to wear some, if CL steps on you with the heel of those boots, you will be hurting for a while girlfriend!

Luvs - I broke my arm the week before camp. I had to figure out how to bathe without getting my cast wet. Didn't work so well. Then I had to do the horse stuff. With a cast. It was horrible. The horse that was assigned to me was a one eyed old horse named Charlie. He was the one bright spot. He was very gentle. I almost got tossed off by an SOB horse named Brandy. Cured me of animals for life. And camp. :lol2:

RE: Horses.

My grandfather used to raise cattle and had a couple of horses to help him with that. I used to ride the mare with my dad, but I wasn't very proficient. When I visited my friend in Costa Rica, I rode in her ranch, but I'm still not very good. I always request a quiet horse. Since Mr. Reeves accident, I'm terrified the animal will suddenly break into an uncontrolled run. But, for the most part I do ok.

When we first met I was very excited about that until I found out they are not pleasure horses. They breed American Saddle Breds. Gaited and soooooo high strung, but beautiful.

LOL!! I find that rather than wearing my Alzhiemers hat, I can blissfully forget. Its like starting over all the time. Wheee!!
No worries about putting someone's eyes out on my part, not enough there to do anything like that. :blushing:

About the shoes, I suppose I will just stick with my Vans (yes, I bought some just like Charlie's because I am a dork. I have learned to live with it).

Come back with my cape!!!
Here you go April--I just picked some grapefruit off the tree--should fill that tube top up nicely! I think BD got hit in the eye with a grapefruit from my tube top the other time when we were all jumping around! ;)

If you're a dork, you will be welcome here. My family is a bunch of nerds!

Nope, not getting it back, :no2: I licked it, so now it's mine:whistling

Hey Perdue... while you've got the needles out... can make knit me this crochet suede bikini (http://www.nexstitch.com/pat_teenie.html) ? That's just the carrot in front of my nose that I need to get in tip-top shape.. In the mean time it'll look awesome on Knut as a hat and cape..

Hi Nynaeve, Welcome! I'm not in charge of membership, but if you can put up with our silliness you are welcome to come play with us! How do you look in an alzheimer's hat? We like shiny things and threaten to wear tube tops and bikinis!

CL sweetie, somewhere in your campaign thingy you should mention that you already have a tiara--and post a pretty picture of you wearing it!

BD - Has Super Bowl fever reached a pitch yet?

It's awful...traffic is terrible...I was going to go downtown with friends last night to the art walk but it took 45 minutes to go about two miles and we bailed. The golf tournament had 170,000 people on the eastside of Phoenix today...on top of all the Super Bowl crowd on the west side...no where to go...so it's pizza and the UFC tonight:)

Can you PM the link to your picture? I want to photoshop a tiara on you & add some text (VOTE for CL... yada yada yada  )

And last night, I just sat & watched movies at home! Saw "The Pacifier" with Vin Diesel, & watched "The Polar Express" again!
Getting back on my diet tonight at midnight! Two weeks from tonight is our Gordon Lightfoot concert! (If God permits & all goes well!)
Gotta see how much of a difference I can make in two weeks!Well it sounds like you're having a great and well-deserved break Tom! Even if you make the slightest difference in two weeks, it's better than none at all.. Gordon Lightfoot's right around the corner.. nice.

OK...I put horseback riding down on the "Things to do while we are in DeLand having an Elder's meet-up when Harry Potter World opens in Orlando" list. Don't forget your capes, think how beautiful we will look with our long velvet capes trailing on the sides of our horses..kind of like Arwen! Well, I might look like Arwen if she gained more than a few and stuck her finger in a light socket......:afro:

Seriously Tabby, when the snow clears where you live you should go for a good long trail ride. It might go quite a way to soothing old wounds. If you have a daughter it would be great to take her too, she can stand in as your inner child. We almost went riding the day we went orienteering, except my son is a year too young. Next year!

What did I miss here? What is the story about band camp?

Mr. DeLand took a 15 minute stab at sanding the floors. He threw his back out, and he can't do any more. :drowsy: Now, what are the chances he would throw his back out the same day I rented a floor sander.....100%.:undecide:

How is your snow situation tonight Ame-girl?

BD, so sorry about all the tourons in Phoenix. (combo of tourist and ummmm....moron). Most tourists are good, I think superbowl tourists just might be tourons. ;) It really was a foolish thing to do to schedule bothe events the same time. You can tell Phoenix isn't like Orlando at this. Here the hotel association would be screaming. I am sure all rooms are booked anywhere even close to there--and if they had spread it out between 2 weekends, Phoenix hotels would have been able to double their business--sheesh! We NEVER venture anywhere near tourist land if we can avoid it. We enjoy the parks, but It would take a fortune to get me to spend any time over on International Drive! YUK!

We went to the DeLand Mardi Gras dog parade today. Nice to live in a small town. Every year they have a mardi gras parade with a theme, people come with their dogs--must be dressed. My favorite this year was "Blue dog Group." The family was dressed like blue man group in black with tube drums and blue faces, and they smeared blue face paint on the dog too...hee hee hee The theme was Viva Las Vegas so there were more than a few Elvis dogs and some dogs dressed as vegas showgirls--feathers and all! It was nice, but hot.....can't complain, it could be -30.

Mr. DeLand left the "Charlie is dead but alive" thread with renewed energy to sand the floor....

Don't like to pick favorites, but he kinda reminds me of the totally dorky kid that always got picked on in school, but he is, without a doubt the sweetest of the herd so he gets to go first.

Thank you, Perdue!!! That IS the word!!! I gave up looking for it after "bivouac" (no)...etc. You would think that if the nefarious camp counselors were going to torture the campers with canoe-ing instead of trail rides, they would at least teach the campers some proper canoe-ing lingo. :24:

Don't forget YOUR and MY go-go boots!

LOLOLOLOL...but jeesh...don't ***I*** DESERVE to ride Kate's horse? My angst is bigger than your angst... ;) :24:

There's another reason that this sad story is tied to the go-go boots...after going back (hehe, LOST connection) to those wonderful memories, I remembered that it was me and the other youngest camper that had to suffer...NO GO-GO BOOTS FOR YOU!!! ;) :24:

Ok, ok, ok....you can have Kate's horse. I will ride one of Mikael's. His are better anyway, :harhar1: you can ride them until you kill them and they never die! Just keep coming back to life:biggrin:

Poor little thing, when I finally get a chance to send you your tiara I will hunt you a pair of go go boots too dear friend! http://www.snaz75.com/boots-knee-high.html 2 1/2 inch heel in white!

Well now, don't I feel like a Cracker-Jack, or a Jack-In-The-Box, no punt intended (Jack). I thought people were rateing what I had to say. I was so excitied that I found this place because the real world gets a headacke just listening to all theories I have or have read from the others on the boards. I went to bed thinking "man, what a tuff group, so this is what it's like to be a real hard core, die hard fan of LOST! Well this sucks.
And for this post...I am going to give you a rating of one star :g055:

Hee hee hee:rotflmao2:

CocaCola,

Canton?? I lived in your neck of the woods for years..

And the post thingy? Posts don't count in this section...so you will see nothing if you post just here. Go to the discussion threads and jump into some converstations if you want some numbers...chat groups don't get posts counted...and you need to get some posts to get an avitar so have at it and welcome to the Elder's thread!

Let's see if I can remember all the posts I marked...

Welcome Cola, nyaeve (don't think I spelled that one right  ) and LostApril! :wavey:

CL, Mr. Dragon is doing quite well today. He's waiting patiently for the Super Bowl, he's a die-hard Pats man. I told him I thought the Yankees would win the Bowl... he didn't appreciate my attempt at sports humor:football:

Tom, Happy Vacation!! :woohoo:

I got Guitar Hero! :happy_bounce: My brother said he was getting me something more addictive than heroin for my birthday... Man, was he was right.. I've been playing for three hours straight.. 89% and streaks getting higher.. Very fun... but the room's spinning..

Dragonwife - glad Mr. D's feeling OK today.. LOL on the Yankees comment to him.. Why don't you snuggle up to him with a Giants hat.. I'd lend you mine but I'm wearing it..

Oy, the ice! I had to dig out my ice carving tools just to hack through it just so I could shovel yesterday... But everything - all the trees - were glazed in a thick coat of ice.. Driving around yesterday was breathtaking with the sun shining through the icy trees.... How is it by you?

Everyone's fitness numbers sound GREAT so far!

Loved Tom Petty at half-time... American Girl, my absolute favorite from him.. He and his band sounded great..

LMAO at some of the commercials... The squirrel that almost gets hit & all the animals screaming was my favorite so far... The dalmation & horse Rocky commercial was great.. Pepsi Max one with everyone nodding off - hysterical... and the Planters one with the hideous unibrow lady - all the guys are chasing her becasue she rubs mixed nuts on her like perfume... *adding Planters to grocery list* .. Career Builder's are terrible - pretty violent..

Just saw the Bud Light commercial where they promise you can fly and then have to rescind that promise. Hilarious!!
Loved Tom Petty. I told Gary when he started thanking the audience that he had better keep his skinny a** on stage and sing "Free Fallin'"!! Sure enough, the intro started and away we went. One fo the best half time shows in a long, long time, IMO.
The "What is Love" and the Pepsi commercial with Justin Timberlake were pretty hilarious too.

Yes! the "What is Love" is the Pepsi Max one... great.. Justin Timberlakes, yeah that one was good... owie when he gets sucked up to the stop sign - three times...

OK, I fell for GoDaddy's teaser about the banned commercial.... There's no way they made that commercial thinking it would ever hit the air. I think they made it specifically to say it was banned, to drive traffic to their site.. Jheesh they make it hard to be a customer.. I stay with them *in spite of* their ads..

HI ELDERS! Woo Hoo!! And Howdy Do! I'm back after my hiatus, and it's wonderful to see all the old and familiar names - and to see there are some new Elders, too! We're gonna have a fantastic season this year.

The problem with us is that we have gone from being able to only get one TV channel (which fortunately had been ABC, and thus LOST) - down to now where we're getting NO TV at all! This is not all bad really, except for one thing: we can't get lost off the air any more. So I've been trying to catch it on the ABC podcast. I've managed to see almost all the minipods from this summer, and we just got through watching the preview for Season Four (Lost:Past, Present and Future), and now we're gonna watch "The Beginning of the End". Well, just as soon as my wife gets our 3 year old son to bed, then we'll watch it.

The thing is that I feel sort of thrown off balance having to do it this way. I'm sure that in a week or two it will have become a regular thing - to tune into the latest Lost episode through our laptop screen every Thursday night (they don't put the podcast up until a day after the broadcast). But it makes me feel so out of touch. I was like one of the first people last year to start writing comments after each episode was shown - I'd be sitting at my computer within minutes after the episode ended. Now I have to wait for 24 hours before seeing it. Perhaps this is a good thing ultimately, and I'm going to really try hard to resist peeking at any spoiler stuff before I see the newest episodes.

In real life I'm actively doing my semester of Student Teaching right now. I'm teaching in a local school that has a total enrollment of less than 300 students, and that includes Kindergarten through 12th Grade! I'm teaching a World History class for sophomores and Juniors, and an Earth Science class for 8th graders. It's fantastic, and I'm really enjoying it a lot more - and having a lot less stress - than I had feared would be the case. I've always been told by my friends that I'd be a natural teacher, and here I am - 49 years old - and starting a new career - and I have found that this is really what my true calling has been all my life, but I just never grabbed hold of it before now. It's so great!

We're buried in snow here in Michigan's Upper Peninsula. This year has been a KILLER snow year. But I predicted this, because Lake Superior (which we live next to) got warmer than ever before on record this last summer - and warm lake water equals more lake effect snow. So we're just getting buried. The snow is already half-way up our kitchen window, and more is on the way each and every day. Oh well, at least now LOST is back on, and that is something to help chase away the midwinter cabin fever bugaboos!

I look forward to once again hanging out with all you wonderful Elder folks. ANd yes, I am going to vote for CrazyLatina! Absolutely! Go girl! Woo Hoo!

Luvs, do you watch the show the day after it airs here on the computer? I'mnot sure what the schedule is in Oz. Does anybody there care about the superbowl? Do you follow American football?

Glad you all are enjoying the game and commercials. We're back home, sanding floors. The kids are watching the puppy bowl though--so cute!

I know as an Elder these career changes aren't the easiest, but at the end of the day you have less stress which is so priceless. (I went that route too..) So glad for that. It sounds like you're a natural.

Hey, guess what?

What a game!!!! I was cheering for the Giants, sis for the Pats.. We're both almost hoarse from screaming at the TV.. I won a bit o' money too...

:Welcome: back!

Thanks, Guin. Yep, lots of snow this year. But where we live it averages between 200 to 250 inches (500 to 650 cm) of snow every year - most of it falling between Christmas and the end of April. So it's all a matter of degree. If they suddenly got the amount of snow we get on a normal year in, say, St. Louis or Washington, DC it would stop civilization. People would form into tribes of cannibals. Here, we just keep digging out and plodding through the winter, and the liquor stores all have their inventories completely cleaned out by Spring. There's one good thing about living where there's lots of snow - it keeps the riffraff out... You gotta be tough to live in a place like this.

Welcome back Sauk! :clapping: We missed you a lot! Glad to hear things are going well with you and you are enjoying teaching so much! Did you hear BDs big news?

That's cool to hear you're having lots of snow down there. We took an overnight trip down to Escanaba this weekend (just got back a few hours ago). They have snow too - but you can see stubble in the fields poking through the snow on the ground. It was very nice to visit someplace where there is not three or four feet of snow standing everywhere - and where it's piled up it is up over one's head. The folks in Escanaba told us how they'd been getting huge amounts of snow this year, and when we then told them that we'd come to visit to get away from all the snow where we live, it really made them blink at us like "How much snow exactly DO you all have up there?" Heh. It's all relative...

At any rate, nice to meet you. Hey, did you know that DB is originally from the UP?!? Heh! He lives in Arizona now (or did last I checked). But down deep inside he's still a Yooper.

Can't tell ya--:no2:his news! How is the wife and son Sauk?

I'm glad your team won Ame. :cheerleader: My little guy was rooting for them too--my Dad--his Grampy--is over the moon for the Giants (NY boy), so LILDIL is too! He's a happy lil guy. Puppy bowl was cute--they liked the kitty half time as well!

Ame, Can't give you the exact numbers for this week, I go to the doc tomorrow and then diet REALLY starts! Mr. DeLand and I both met our minute goals and lets say I lost 2 and he lost 1--yay stomach flu!

What's it like in Phoenix BD?

Glad they liked the puppy bowl / kitty half-time... That's just a brilliant premise... One of the local channels in NY had a show - nothing but puppies and kittens for an hour or so.. loved it..

So you must have had some happy Giants fans at your place then.. Unbelievable..

Is BD BaileysDAD and if so why does he have pink stars?Yes, Coca-Cola - BD is Baileysdad.. We tend to get lazy here and shorten names.. You'll be "CC" in no time.. The pink stars (and TSA badge) are because he's a moderator here..

I know the people in color writing are the VIP's but how do we know who they are? Here's a link to the VIP area (http://www.thefuselage.com/Threaded/forumdisplay.php?f=10).. Just click on the header you want (such as Lost Actors) and it lists their real name and name they post under..

Here's a link to the Frequently Asked Questions (http://www.thefuselage.com/Threaded/faq.php?faq=site_rules_and_info#faq_vip_parent_cat egory) which can be really helpful.. But just ask away here if you have questions.. :)

Hello, I would like to introduce myself and this Chat Group seems to be just the place for me! I have belonged to the Fuselage for quite some time- mostly a lurker, every great once in a while a post. I can't keep up with the technical younger posters- I don't even know how to capture a screen cap! My family thinks my addiction to LOST is sort of strange- but I'm a devoted viewer. Looking forward to hearing everyone's ideas.
