I don't know. I like that they've given Christian his own set of Daddy Issues in the mobisodes, but even if there isn't any direct lineage, I think the Shephards are very important to the story either way.

either i missed an important clue, or a missed a joke... i thought Him was also Jacob. and i think Jacob was alive at one point, like during the era of Captain Richard Alpert crashing the SS Black Rock on the island, or even before, and is now a spirit that is very powerful on the island because of strong electromagnetic activity.

I first joined the fandom shortly after THP aired and there was heavy speculation that HIM was the McBeardy Jack confronted at the line and he was this supernatural being of might and mystery. And now we know it was goofy, had-a-crush-on-Jack Tom. I just find that amusing.

I'm not opposed to the idea that Christian and Jack may be descendants of Jacob. That would make more sense to me than the theory that Christian is Jacob just because he was seen sittin in the roking chair. I think that seeing Jacob in TMBTC, he looks like Christian. Seeing the eyeball looks like Jack's eye and seeing last night Christian in the rocking chair... descendants... maybe. got to be something going on with that family.

I too think Jacob was living at some point. I like the idea that Jack and his dad are descendants. Tom could have been one too. He looks similar to Jacob and was on the island for we have no idea how long.
