View Full Version : I know I'm wrong... Bruce Campbell?

I know I must be wrong, 'cos no-one else has mentioned it, but one of the cops at the beginning of the episode looks A LOT like Bruce Campbell. :eek2: It's not him, is it? Who's the actor?

Bruce wouldn't just turn up like that. He'd have a massive introduction.

It can't be him.

Exactly, that's what I thought. But it really looks like him. I'm trying to get some screengrabs now.

I sort of see it in the chin, if he was beefed up and younger. But Bruce has some wrinkles now, not very smooth in the face. Wishful thinking? It's a good wish!

Maybe Bubba Ho-Tep will show up on the island?

I can see a slight resemblance, but that guy's beefier and younger than BC.

I had the same recognition factor at first, but I think the guy in the episode would be a lot younger than Bruce.

Can Xena be far behind?
It does look like him but the last I saw him he was in Burn Notice and looked a little older than that picture but this is Hollywood (Hawaii verision) so I guess it's possible he did it on a lark.

IMDB. I looked there--no Bruce Campbell. I looked at Bruce's entry at IMDB too--no listing for Lost. I don't think it's too small of a part to be listed, as Bruce did have an entry for "Maitre'D" in a movie.

Sure, that's the first place I looked. But there were no credits for ANY of the cops, which I found a bit strange, seeing as there were, what, 4, 5 with speaking parts.

I left my psychic abilities at work, so I couldn't correctly see into your mind to know what "usual places" meant. :) I didn't see cops listed either, but at Bruce's listing nothing was listed there.Ask a VIP next?

Unlikely, Gregg Nations is - and has been for months - in radio silence since Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse are not doing any publicity because of the strike. So pray the strike ends soon and the writers can finally get back to work! ;)

Yes, that's usually what happens to posts which don't follow the rules for posting in the VIP section...

I think a better idea would be to let the offender know what they did wrong and that their post didn't just poof into Yahooland, if anything... :twocents:

In another thread (http://www.thefuselage.com/Threaded/showthread.php?t=85911), people are discussing which shows are/were similar to Lost. Someone mentioned "The Adventures of Brisco County Jr." (http://uk.imdb.com/title/tt0105932/). Guess who starred in that? And guess who one of the creators of that show was..?

Edit: ah, y'all probably knew this, but I'd never heard of 'The Adventures of Brisco County Jr'!

If you're asking who played the officer that interrogated Hurley:

character's name-> Michael Walton "Big Mike," .
actor-> Michael Cudlitz.

All the Lostpedia (http://www.lostpedia.com) goodness can answer your questions, list characters, crossovers, mysteries, theories, transcripts, and who knows what else.

I hope that helps

Are you saying the guy in the screencaps is this Bruce Campbell (http://www.starpulse.com/Actors/Campbell,_Bruce/Pictures/)?

I don't see it at all, sorry..
edit: I guess if they really wanted to disguise him, it would work. But why go to all that trouble for a bit part?

I'm not thinking "it's Bruce, disguised", I'm thinking "blimey, doesn't that fella look exactly like Bruce!"

Either:
a) It's not Bruce at all. That's no problem, people look like other people, it's all part of the fun of Lost.
b) It's Bruce, in a tiny "it'll be a bit of fun if they spot me" cameo, 'cos he was out visiting his friend Carlton Cuse anyway.
c) It's Bruce, and we're going to see a lot more of him...

I'm hoping for c), but even if it's a), Lost is still the best show on television!

[Off-topic: I keep having to use the 'biggrin' smiley, as the graphic for the usual colon / right parenthesis smiley looks quite sarcastic to me :) - am I alone in thinking this?]

I remember that show i loved watching it, I had no idea that Carlton Cuse was one of the creators thou, that suddenly gives some legs to this theory.

If they wanted to tie everythign together with jacob being behind it all in the end and him actually being spotted by the Tivoers in previous episodes that would be a funny twist.

Guess we just killed it thou.

That would be just like Bruce Campbell to do. The funny thing is, last summer I e-mailed Damon, half jokingly, to ask when he would cast Bruce Campbell.

Me too! I've been trying (no luck so far) to find some BC super-fans, who could pin-point his whereabouts over the last 6-8 months; if he'd been to Hawaii, you'd think they'd know about it.

 If you search the 'lage for 'Bruce Campbell', you actually do get quite a lot of hits... he's obviously someone well-respected by Lost fans.

I did a quick scan, but couldn't see any glaringly obvious scar (not that its absence is any evidence, scars are easily covered up these days, I guess). Couple more animated gifs:

Except none of the police officers in the 'Hurley chase' scene have any credits.

Believe me, I'd be quite happy if this was settled quickly with a 'no, it's definitely not Bruce' - but we've no evidence either way, apart from that scene.

Not true. According to SAG rules they need to have a speaking part to be credited. None of the other cops are credited, except for Big Mike (the interrogator). But he had lines.

There is no way this is Bruce Campbell. He does resemble Bruce about 15 years ago, right after he did Army of Darkness. But Bruce has gotten a little heavier since then, and definitely more wrinkly in the face. This guy does kind of look like him (he has Bruce's trademark chin, which Bruce has titled a book after), but his hair and age do NOT look like Bruce. I have met this guy in person a few times (book signings and what-not) and I can absolutely 100% tell you this guy is not him. Bruce wouldn't shave his head for LOST. He loves his hair, and it's gray. Also, having someone like Bruce Campbell in the show would have already made the rounds on this board. And I would bet a million dollars that Carlton would have thrown him a few lines and not just some cameo.

Bruce made cameos in Spiderman 1, 2, and 3 because he is friends with Sam Raimi, the director. Sam directed Evil Dead 1, 2, and Army of Darkness as some of his first movies and they all starred Bruce Campbell. Bruce was also in a few of his other movies, including Darkman (at the very end, right before the credits). Sam puts Bruce in his movies almost as much as he uses his car in his movies (Uncle Ben's car in Spiderman is Sam Raimi's personal car. It has made an appearance in every single movie he has ever made). That is why Bruce Campbell has had cameos in movies, but it in no way shows that he just pops in for non-speaking cameo roles.

On a more hopeful note, having Bruce Campbell in LOST would be the ultimate combination in my eyes. Both subjects that I hold very close to my heart.

I emailed Bruce when he had no website and was on AOL (his email was BCACT@aol.com - but not anymore so don't email it) way back in like 1994 and I said "You are the reason why I love movies".

He responded with "Dear Luke, (As Elvis) Thank you. Thank you ver'much".

10 years later he played Evlis in Bubba Hotep =]

Anyway, I don't think it's him. But I do hope with all my being that Carlton convinces him to come on the show for a brief role. I love Brisco County.

Edit: Also, it isn't listed on his projects page: http://www.bruce-campbell.com/projects/index.htm

but that hasn't been updated since 2007 and doesn't include his Old Spice commercials....

They do have lines. 'PotentialBruce' starts the talking with "Show us your hands... roll down the window and show us your hands now."

Fair enough. I still have the right to HOPE that you're wrong, though!
Lost with Bruce? A killer combination.

Hahaha, love the icon.

I just re-watched this (I have the 720p version) and you are definitely right - the guy definitely has several lines. He said "get out of the car" and "Show us your hands", and he is also the same guy who pins Hurley up against the wall when he runs...

So by SAG rules, that guy should be in the credits *somewhere*. Any speaking part is an automatic listing, from what I have read.

I have to admit after watching, he definitely resembles Bruce a lot more than I originally thought in my previous post. I doubt that its him because that stuff usually gets out well before the show airs, but like you said, a guy can hope =]

I know when Aldo was announced, we knew he was "Mac" from It's Always Sunny in Philidelphia like a month before the episode aired. And having the cult following that BC does, I would think that would have been all over the place here. But I could be wrong.

Good. Bad. He's the guy with the gun.
