View Full Version : Will Claire find Charlie's ring and give it to Aaron?

It occurred to me that, last season, Claire took Aaron and left the beach without the DS ring Charlie left in Aaron's crib. They've been doing a lot of running around since then, back and forth, and some have already been back to the beach. So, do you think Claire will go back and find the ring, or another Lostie, or will it stay there without ever being found?

I really hope and believe so.
There was so much back story associated with that ring (greatest hits, driftshaft, what DS stands for, etc), that I don't think they could show Liam telling Charlie that the ring needed to stay in the family, having Charlie give it to Aaron, then forgetting about it.
Claire will find it and be sad about Charlie all over again.

Claire is essentially worthless and human baggage, but very important as a surviving mother on the island.

Desmond will go to the beach i think for Claires belongings, trying to be supportive. he may find the ring, and deliver it to her along with the greatest hits list.

I like that. It would be a very touching moment and a nod to all the Charlie Pace fans!

Honestly, I think their days at the beach camp are over. Unless they come up with some plot device that necessitates their return.

It will become a relic of the Island, similar to the statue, the black and white stones, and so on-- proof of what once was, and who was part of the rich history of the Island. I think that is a more fitting fate for the ring.

Actually I don't. Charlie intended that the ring go to Aaron. It was a family heirloom and he passed it on to the child he considers like a son. For Claire and Aaron to never see that ring is just another insult that takes away from the sacrifice Charlie made. So far none of the things he died for are happening, and that's just wrong. Claire deserves that ring and Charlie deserves that at least one of his dying wishes come true.

it would be a nice piece of closure for claire to get the ring, but closure isnt always granted on LOST, after all, i wanted Eko to stay. i wanted ana lucia to stay and have her resolution.

It's more than closure, the ring represents a future, it represents hope, love and commitment. It meant all those things to Rose when she stubbornly held onto Bernard's ring and against all odds he came back to her. Claire's ring should carry the same symbolism.

Didn't the beach camp get blown all to hell in the others attack - counter attack?

Unless she took the ring before leaving (before the attack) then I'd think it's going to be pretty hard to find now.

are we talking about the DS ring or the One RIng to Rulle them All? LOL,, just kidding.

Im sure the ring will be accidentally discoverred (since the camp is in a shambles from the explosions and hippie van driving through it) and it will go to claire and it will be worn around her neck as a momento. remember it doesnt bear the heirloom value to claire as it it did to charlie, imnot sure claire even knew about itbeing an heirloom.

No, the heirloom meaning is for Charlie, Claire will keep it to remember him by. And yes, two of the tents were blown up, but I think one was Sun's and another may have been someone else's. I don't think Claire's tent was destroyed, and anyway, if they want her to find the ring they could easily say her tent was still intact.

true if TBTB want it found it will be.

if charlie really wanted to help claire and aaron he woulda wrote a will signing over royalties from his album(s) to them,, sales should be way up with him being missing and all.

This is how I feel, too. That ring was very important to Charlie, and while Claire may or may not realize just how important it is, she will know it's Charlie's, and that will be motivation enough for her to keep it. Assuming it's found, that is.

Well, if Desmond gives her Charlie's greatest hits, she should at least have some idea, since one of them is "The Christmas that Liam gave me the ring"

Oh, and you just reminded me of something. Charlie died on December 23, and that means Christmas is coming. What if Desmond gives the letter and the ring to Claire on Christmas, the anniversary of when he himself got it? Nice link.

Charlie was a sacrifice the Island demanded. To me that trumps Claire's need to have the ring for "closure." She and Hurley are there to support each other.

Shouldn't the next epi be Christmas?

It's got to be close, either episode 2 or 3.

Did TPTB say Christmas would be acknowledged on the show?

No, I'm just going by the timeline and considering that's when Charlie got the ring, it would be a fitting time for Claire to get it. Sad, but fitting.

I really hope Claire gets the ring. It might have been an idea to have had Desmond find it on the beach/ in the crib (if it hadn't been blown up/ run over/ otherwise trampled) in this episode, so that it wasn't necessary to find a way to return to the beach to find it later. I don't know if that will happen, at least for a while, as Claire has gone off with Locke to Otherville.

I just thought, her going with Locke separates her from Desmond, doesn't it? (I recall him staying with Jack) and Desmond has the list...

It could be a while before we get closure on those things, but I except we will get it eventually.

One problem with Claire getting the list. It was in Desmond's shirt pocket when he dove into the ocean to go to the looking glass. I am sure the list is unreadable or disintegrated.

I was rather hoping Claire would get the list and the ring, but the list may very well be tottaly ruined by Desmond going in the water. However, it was written in the permenant or whatever kind of pen/marker it was, but the paper is probably all messed up. I'm starting to realise that nothing Charlie wanted will happen. The more I'm discussing these things the more depressed I seem to get about Charlie. But, hey we still have hope right?

I have faith the list is safe, and so is the ring :)

Yeah, Sawyer's letter survived worse. I just hope Claire reads the whole thing and doesn't rip it up half way through.

I hope Claire somehow gets the ring, because it will be a token that will remind Claire of the sacrafice Charlie made not just for her and Aaron but for the rest of the Losties. And if she does somehow gets the list that Charlie gave to Desmond, Claire will know the meaning behind the DS ring.
