View Full Version : Was Kate flirting with Daniel? Jynes 02-08-2008, 01:44 PM It sure seemed like that to me. Right in front of Jack :eek2: diabolo237 02-08-2008, 01:49 PM Yes, but only because she saw him as weak and was trying to get information from him... jbfletcher 02-08-2008, 01:50 PM I think she was trying to use her feminine charms to distract him while she stole his gun. Claudia815 02-08-2008, 01:52 PM Yes, but only because she saw him as weak and was trying to get information from him... :hesaid: For a girl who hasn't showered in a month and looks cacked in dirt, she sure looks confident in her charms. Daniel seems like a pretty easy prey though. Heroic Poser 02-08-2008, 01:53 PM I don't think there's enough "EEEWWW" in the universe. God's tom 02-08-2008, 02:02 PM I got the impression his coment about the light not scattering right made her think he was some kind of nut case, & she started talking to him like a child or a mental patient! I'd LOVE to know why he was picked for the team! Naomi refered to him as a "head case" but he obviously has some kind of valuable expertise! lostlocke 02-08-2008, 03:05 PM She was definitely trying to charm him. He appears kind of nervous and ditzy as it is, so he looked like an easy target. I think she was just trying to take control of a situation that was out of their control at the moment. 100% I think she was trying to use her feminine charms to distract him while she stole his gun. She had already tried to do this when they first found Miles. She was flirting with Daniel after that incident. macgreagor 02-08-2008, 04:15 PM Kate was just doing what she does naturally, trying to manipulate the situation so that she can make the best of it. Many women, AND MEN, and I say this only in the most non judgemental of ways, use whatever assets they have at the time to get what they want, or in this case, what the group wants. I kind of expected her to try something like that with him, he was the most approachable of the three freighties who landed, and a likey candidate to be persuaded to assist them, or be tricked into helping them. It is a strength of Kate's, not a weakness. I mean, look at the situation they are in. She is certainly not looking for a new boyfriend. Frankly, those who watched this episode and really thought that she was flirting with him because she thought he was cute are underestimating Kate. Or looking for nothing but the worst in her. It may not be the most Polly Purebred method, but if Daniel takes a liking to her it might be beneficial in the long run. And from the looks of it, Jack and company need every advantage they can get. And from the looks of it, Jack and company need every advantage they can get. In the past, Kate has only maintained that type of manipulation short term. In the long run, if Kate doesn't like you, she is going to punch you in the face. AboutBunnies 02-08-2008, 07:59 PM In the past, Kate has only maintained that type of manipulation short term. In the long run, if Kate doesn't like you, she is going to punch you in the face. Sure, or drug or shoot you! What a sweetheart. shootingstar 02-08-2008, 08:12 PM Sure, or drug or shoot you! What a sweetheart. :24: Yeah a real sweetheart! Kate was probably flirting with him to try and get information from him. dirty_pool 02-08-2008, 08:24 PM Kate was acting different, that's a fact. But it wasn't flirting. She was acting like Daniel. She was mirroring his mannerisms in order to connect with him. It's like talking to children. You get down to their level and maybe speak slower or simpler. Besides, we all know that Kate wouldn't want to flirt with Daniel! Especially in front of Jack! lol! alicou22 02-08-2008, 08:40 PM She was flirting with him...just like she flirted with the bank manager. I don't think Jack or Sawyer have anything to worry about. Amber 02-08-2008, 08:45 PM Ugh, that hussy takes all the island men. LOL dirty_pool 02-08-2008, 08:57 PM Kate was talking and acting like Daniel so as to connect with him, in order to get what she wanted. Did she really want sexually charged attention (aka flirting) from Daniel? Of course not. She was only trying to connect. Kate731 02-08-2008, 09:58 PM She was flirting, to try to get him to help them. I think she saw that he was the most likely to do so, as he seemed kind of unconcerned with the "secrecy" of their mission. Wasn't he nearly about to tell them what the primary focus of their mission was without a second thought? (I forget what interrupted him). He also just comes across as a bit naive and easily manipulated. I had the same thought as someone already posted here though- for someone so dirty and ratty looking (at the moment) she's sure confident! lipgloss_and_revolver 02-08-2008, 10:05 PM she was NOT flirting with him. she was just trying to talk to him and manipulate him to get his gun & to know more about his purpose there (if its good or bad). there's a difference, people. Sterile Firefly 02-08-2008, 10:20 PM I like Daniel a lot more than anyone else on the island. I don't think Kate has good enough taste to honestly first with him... Sawyer and Jack? Eww. I bet Evangeline Lilly really likes him though, since she's obviously attracted to the geekier and less studly Dom Monaghan type in real life. ;) I still remember the first film that actor, Jeremy Davies, ever starred in. Ever since I saw him in that I can't think of anything else every single time I see him. Spanking the Monkey was the name of the film, a family-friendly irreverent comedy about a young man being seduced by his injured control freak of a mother while he has to take care of her all summer. Hard to look at that actor for me without thinking about that movie... Which was great, and carried pretty much by Jeremy Davies and his awkwardness. Jack Sawyer 02-08-2008, 10:35 PM I don't think there's enough "EEEWWW" in the universe. I can't say that would stop me... lonegunwoman 02-08-2008, 10:38 PM Kate was flirting to distract him so she could steal his gun. It worked on Jack last week with the satphone. carodeluxe 02-08-2008, 10:52 PM Oh, come on. Crazy physicists are kind of cute, especially this one. lawst 02-08-2008, 11:01 PM Concerning Dan, I think he is a great character btw, I hope he sticks around for a few seasons. He seems like a Captain Jack Sparrow knockoff to some extent, he might even have some kind of mild autism. But I think when weird "stuff" starts to go down then he is going to bust out the physics of the situation like he has every physics textbook memorized. Or else why the hell would they bring him? The pilot is obviously pretty damn good, and Miles seems to have some military training regardless of what Abaddon(sp?) said. Let's face it he looked pretty dead when they found him. AboutBunnies 02-08-2008, 11:17 PM she was NOT flirting with him. she was just trying to talk to him and manipulate him to get his gun & to know more about his purpose there (if its good or bad). there's a difference, people. Well, I agree there can be a difference, but Kate was being typically Kate -- that's her modus operandi. She flirts with men to get what she wants, be it guns, information, tiny airplanes, etc. (And maybe why Mars was taking her capture so personally...maybe she flirted her way to an escape once and he was humiliated. But I digress!) dirty_pool 02-08-2008, 11:39 PM The word "flirt" implies sexual attraction one way or another. Did you see any kind of sexual attraction from either one of these two to the other? The word "connect" is much better suited in this case. Daniel was acting somewhat disoriented, and Kate was trying to get him to focus. The word "connect" is much better suited in this case. Daniel was acting somewhat disoriented, and Kate was trying to get him to focus. It implies sexual attraction, in that the person is indicating they're attracted to the other person, but it doesn't mean that sexual attraction is actually there. People flirt an awful lot regardless of whether they're actually attracted to the other person or not. (I feel like I've said 'actually' too much!) |
