Boone and Locke discussing where Claire might have come from.

After Boone says this Locke gets a small grin on his face.
It's very slight but noticeable.

What does Locke know?

How much will he reveal?

AAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

(k, i feel better)

YES!....Thank you, I knew I wasn't crazy. He definitely smiles after Boone says that. Also when Boone says "you think she escaped" Lockes response " You were right beside me Boone you know as much as I do" doesn't seem very genuine. This whole conversation raises red flags toward Locke. There is something that makes me think there are two sides to Locke.

This scene (below) in WtCMB screams red flag to me too, especially how Locke rests the axe on his shoulder and gives Boone a "you better give the right answer or this axe will find a home in your head" look.

Boone [giving/throwing the axe to Locke]

Yeah. Isn't there any easier way to get there?

Locke

The easiest way isn't always the best. Did anybody see you take it?

Boone

No. I don't think so.

Locke

Well, which is it?

Boone

Sorry?

Locke

No? Or, I don't think so?

Boone

No.

Locke

Good. Let's get to work.

Yeah I must admit I sometimes wonder weather Locke has the best intentions. However, I think we will find that he might know more but I don't think he has bad intentions to any of the other castaways. Just like the hatch, I don't think he wants to frighten and scare everyone for no reason. No sense in getting everyone in a panic until we know what we are dealing with. Everything Locke does on the island is well thought out. He thinks first then acts. Unlike Jack, who is all heart, and acts before thinking in most cases.

I think Locke just sometimes comes off as evil because I don't think he has much experience with how to act in social settings or "fit in" so to speak. He said he was not a popular kid. As we have seen in his flashback he lives alone and probably has little contact with other people outside of work.

I will admit though often when people have been social outcasts there whole lives, they seem to lash back at everyone if they achieve the upperhand, unlike Locke who seems to be helping them. I think that is why so many people are leary of his motives, because it seems he has had a pretty crummy life to this point and why would he ever want to go back to it? On the island he and Jack seem to be the most important people.

Just my thoughts, to me Locke makes this show what it is. Without him it may be good, but not great.

I agree 100%, Lockes character rules.
I'm not so sure I agree that his character is'nt "evil" though. Locke may seem to think things through where Jack may act with his heart as you mentioned but remember that if Jack did listen to Locke in WtCMB he would have been led away from Charlie hanging in that tree and instead led to the hatch. During that episode every thing that Locke suggested would have either wasted time (search party) or sent them down the wrong path, literally. I love the character (and actor) but I don't trust him one bit.

See I think evil is a strong word. I for one will be pretty shocked if he is out and out evil. Now is it possible, he is doing things for his own survival or to make his life better...yes, but I don't think any of the castaways have come across as evil. The show is about the duality of human nature. The shades of grey between white and black. Good and bad. I think it will explore the dark side of every character as well as the light side. Some obviously will be darker than others. I just don't see Locke being purely evil. He may have led them the wrong way in ATBCHDI, but maybe he knew if he did lead them the right way something terrible would happen. Maybe they all would walk right into a trap Ethan was setting....who knows at this point.

All good points. I agree with what you said about that "evil" word, the word is thrown alot which was why I originally had the word in quotes. Dark is certainly a better word. 'Duality of human nature' I also agree 100% with, I just think Locke is going to be the darkest of them all.

Yeah I must have missed your quotes. Yeah I am pretty excited to get some more backstory on him. I would probably agree with you that he defintely has the most potential to be the darkest of the group. I guess right now it is hard to say because....we really don't know what his deal is completely.
