Jack told Lapidus that it had been 100 days since he has seen a game. If time really moves slower on the island, why didn't Lapidus seemingly notice that it should have been longer since Jack has seen a game?

View Full Version : Lapidus and the Time Discrepency Supertwiz 02-15-2008, 07:35 PM Jack told Lapidus that it had been 100 days since he has seen a game. If time really moves slower on the island, why didn't Lapidus seemingly notice that it should have been longer since Jack has seen a game? Annette Canyoudigit 02-15-2008, 07:45 PM That's a good question. Maybe he thought they had a TV set that was on the fritz. What Would Jeff Do 02-15-2008, 08:42 PM I think the time discrepancy is always a constant 31 minutes, never more or less. So theyve only been gone for the 100 days, and that's why Frank wouldn't notice a difference. Supertwiz 02-15-2008, 11:11 PM I think the time discrepancy is always a constant 31 minutes. That would make for an extremely boring plot twist. Jealous_Guy 02-15-2008, 11:23 PM I think Frank will bring it up again later. What Would Jeff Do 02-17-2008, 08:18 PM That would make for an extremely boring plot twist. I didn't say it was exciting, it's just what makes sense. CharliesHoodie 02-17-2008, 08:41 PM I think the time discrepancy is always a constant 31 minutes, never more or less. So theyve only been gone for the 100 days, and that's why Frank wouldn't notice a difference. That's kind of what I thought, too. Which is why the 31 minutes thing kind of bothers me and doesn't make much sense and I've been trying to figure out how it would even cause a difference. :undecide: I hope it's more interesting. phorkster 02-18-2008, 02:27 AM I don't think its a constant, I believe there is a difference depending on your bearing. asim1701 02-18-2008, 10:37 AM maybe when Jack said 100 days, Lapidus was thinking of the SECOND time the Sox won. epontius 02-18-2008, 01:50 PM Jack didn't say that he'd been on the island for 100 days. Just that he hadn't seen a game in 100 days. Perhaps Frank just thinks he hadn't watched a game for a few weeks prior to the crash and didn't alert to it. engulfthemanatee 02-18-2008, 02:56 PM Maybe the Freighties were instructed not to talk to the survivors about the outside world (yet). Even Frank has to realize there's weird stuff going on with the Island (you'd think they'd be briefed at least a little), so getting into lost time issues could be considered complicating things unnecessarily. Pythagoras99 02-18-2008, 06:29 PM I think the time discrepancy is always a constant 31 minutes, never more or less. So theyve only been gone for the 100 days, and that's why Frank wouldn't notice a difference. Then the clocks would have shown the same time, since the island clock came in on the helicopter. aubrey 02-18-2008, 06:38 PM Wouldn't Lapidis already know how long it has been since the plane crashed in real time? So when Jack mentioned the 100 days, Lapidis would know that was off? heru 02-18-2008, 07:09 PM I think the time discrepancy is always a constant 31 minutes, never more or less. So theyve only been gone for the 100 days, and that's why Frank wouldn't notice a difference. The time difference is 31 minutes? So the time it took the Scientist who did that experiment... "fire the pallet?" to receive the "pallet" was 31 minutes? |
