Does anyone know how far along Claire was in her pregnancy when the plane crashed? I believe they always said she was right about to have the baby right? Then next, does anyone know how many days into the show she has the baby?

I believe that the difference in island and real time would account for her not having the baby on time. It doesnt seem to be a big deal, but I always wondered why if Claire was 9 months pregnant when they landed on the island that she didn't have the baby almost right away. Probably way off, I really have no clue.

Pregnancy and birth are tricky things, and hardly a defined end point. To try and tie it to this anamoly would be impossible at best.

:hesaid::shesaid: sorry I didin't know which to use.

I was surprised that something as traumatic as a plane crash didn't throw her into labor.

i used to teach and study traumatic responses and women tend to have higher incidents of labor under higher stress conditions.

I think the more interesting question is is the time difference the women cannot have babies? I'll post a thread.

Claire was about eight months pregnant at the time of the crash, and gave birth pretty much on time.

"On time" being a range of a few weeks, believe me. ;)

Well, she didn't go into labour after the crash, but she definitely had contractions. Remember when Jack told Hurley to call him if the contractions came closer than three minutes apart? So she did react to the stress of the crash.
That she didn't go into labour...well, I don't know why. Maybe the island didn't want Aaron to be born prematurely ;) Or maybe it worked better for the storytelling.

Most airlines wont let you fly in the third trimester, so maybe Oceanic had a reason to let her fly??

Some airlines have no restrictions (which I think is the right thing to do... its not their job to police pregnant women... but yeah, anyway...), while most cutoff at 36 weeks, so Claire would likely have been alright I think if she was about 8 months (32-34)

Obviously Oceanic is fictional, so we can just assume they were one without restrictions. Also, 40 weeks is considered a "normal" length for a pregnancy, which is actually a bit more than 9 months. I think the timeline fits pretty normally.
