Alright, forgive me if this is being discussed elsewhere but I didn't see a thread about it.

One of the things that stuck out for me in last night's episode was during the trial.

So, the public apparently knows about the supposed discovery of Flight 815 in the Indian Ocean (See episode "Confirmed Dead"). Well, the oceanic 6 are supposedly found on some island in the South Pacific, according to Jack's testimony last night in "Eggtown". I wonder how this is spun to make sense to the public? These locations are pretty far from each other.

See "The Search" on the lostpedia page here:
http://www.lostpedia.com/wiki/Oceanic_815

I'm guessing it will be revealed in the future, but it's something to ponder.

This is true. Is the Island actually in the south pacific or does Jack just say this so that no one else finds the island? How would the public react to this? The public must wonder how they get to the south pacific, that is quite a swim. Maybe there is an explanation we are waiting for in a future flash forward.

Is the corporation that did the coverup by planting the plane (I am assuming of course) kicking themselves right now...

Also, does Aaron count as one of the oceanic six since he was technically alive when the plane crashed, he just wasn't born yet.

I'd been wondering about this as well. Pretty much contradicts the Sunda Trench discovery. How WILL they explain a seperate plane being found?!

Jack says in court that 8 people survived and Kate helped them ashore...
So the wreckage we see is what the supposed 8 emerged from and made
it ashore to the nearest island where 2 people died.

I am assuming that they will not "find" a separate plane, but rather just survivors far from the crash. We know that details about the crash have definitly been hidden such as Jack saying that there were only 8 survivors (but the is only 6 in the Oceanic 6...hmmmm). If they announce to the world there is an actual other plane...man that will be a WHOLE lot of explaining to do.

I'll guess that the story they tell involves catching a life raft or a floating part of the plane, and drifting to the island they claim to have beached upon. therefore, they could say they drifted for days and days, and had no idea where they were.

I'll bet that they never fully explain this.

I don't think Aaron counts as a O-6..see my thread on the 'monsters on the wall'. a picture shows a 6 of spades, but the number on it is a 7. Aaron is the 7th.

That's probably why only 6 are off of the island. They had showed "video footage" on the news of the plane filled with all of those bodies, so whoever is trying to cover up the crash made some sort of deal with the survivors that only 6 could come back in order to keep the story straight.

I'd also like to see a map of just how far the Sunda Trench is in relation to the supposed location of the island. I've seen Sunda Trench maps but I'm trying to find one big one that shows the distance - does anyone have one?

And wouldn't CNN send a news team to the supposed island. You know, "This is where they washed up on the beach.", "This is where they made shelter.", "This is where a survivor died." etc. Unless, whoever came up with the lie, faked that as well.

The whole thing seems very fishy, Jacks comments and 815's suppossed found location doesnt add up. The writers are pushing it, I think lol. Looking at an atlas, it seems that the farest (plausible location) they could have been from the Sundra Trench and still be in the south pacific, is just off the NW coast of New Guinea.. and even that seems like a very long stretch of the imagination.
Maybe they had a life raft with a motor behind it ; )
lol

I'm sure they used a fake island for where they found the 6, but Jack said it was in the South Pacific. Maybe I'm off, but I don't think the Sunda Trench (where they've already found plane wreckage, that is designed to look like flight 815) is in the SOuth Pacific. If it is... then ignore this. If it isn't... that's tough to explain. The 8 of them just dog paddled, or floated on something to an island that was a waaaays away?!?
