Sometime next month, there's going to be a clip show. Does anyone here think that it'll make anything clearer or will it be just a HUUUUUUUGE fakout?

I'm hoping that it clears things up before we get the 2nd season. I think it would make a lot of fans angry if it made us even more confused than we already were! I can't wait to watch it, and I think it is really interesting that the show got an oppurtunity to have clip show.

At the risk of sounding stupid....what's a clip show?

ABC has found a way to squeeze a little more life out of frosh blockbusters Lost and Desperate Housewives---and possibly expand their already sizeable fan base to boot.

ABC has greenlit separate one-hour specials tied to both series, with the network's marketing and current programming departments overseeing production of both. But rather than serving up simple clipfests catering to current viewers, ABC is designing the specials to serve as introductory guides to the serialized shows.

"There can be a reluctance on the part of the audience to invest in these kinds of shows," said ABC current department toppertopper Lance Taylor. "What we're trying to do is keep those tent doors open and invite as many people in as possible to enjoy the last part of the season."

Added ABC marketing chief Mike Benson, "We want to do everything we can to make sure these series finish the season in the biggest way possible."

The Lost hour, set to air April 27 in the show's normal Wednesday 8pm timeslot, will be of particular interest to current fans of the show. That's because the special will take the bits and pieces of information the show has doled out about six main characters over the last six months -- and retell their stories in a linear fashion.

"You get to see how these characters are all interwoven and just how deep this show is," Benson said.

The special -- from Metropolitan/ Hodder Group -- will focus on the characters of Jack, Kate, Locke, Sawyer, Charlie and Sayid. "What we did was break it down to a core of characters that seem to cross back and forth between everyone's lives," Taylor said, adding that there'll also be a segment on the island itself.

Taylor credits Lost co-creator Damon Lindelof for the idea of telling the stories in a linear fashion.

ABC is really trying to get new viewers on the bandwagon...that's why they are airing the reruns and have short ads saying "it's never too late to get LOST".

Well, they are trying to get their numbers up before May sweeps so they can get people like my idiot neighbor who will invite me over to watch the show and talk throught the entire episode and then tell me she doesn't get it.

That is what this epi is for.

Everyone knows not to call me when Lost is on OR try to talk to me if they are watching it with me!

Lost is the only regular program I watch while the kids are up. The rule (which applies to all but the 17 month old) is, I will pause for you only once. If I have to pause for you a second time, if you are not bleeding, you go to your room.

As for guests (this comes up more often with movies than with Lost) since they have no room at my house, they can leave on the second pause. I warn them in advance that I do not care to chat during any program I am interested in watching (most don't need the warning since they know me). If they wish to chat, or talk on their cell phones or use the restroom every 10 minutes (any of these are fine during commercial breaks of course) we will not start the program.

I don't go to movies with talkers either. I have gone with people more than once and gotten up in the middle and moved to another seat because they were trying to chat with me during the movie.

Or hooking them just enought to get them to want to buy the DVD when it comes out. That way they will be ready for season 2. Wouldn't be surprised if they ran it again in late August just to remind people to get the dvd before the 2nd season.
