View Full Version : Do you consider your posts to be redundant? Ophelia 03-19-2005, 06:59 PM Just checking something. No offense to anyone. For my own personal information. sheba 03-19-2005, 07:15 PM Interesting question. I try very hard not to be redundant when starting a new thread. That's a big problem on most sites. Not as bad here since the boards are so well organized, so you can usually see fairly quickly if there are multiple threads discussing the same thing. I also try not to be redundant when posting responses, but it is sometimes unavoidable. If you post responses in different threads on the same topic, it is challenging to not just repeat over and over. Or when someone comes into the thread without reading it first and they ask a question which has already been answered, you have to choose between answering it again or saying "read the thread". In this last case, I usually opt for choice 3 and simply don't respond at all, unless the question is directed at me specifically. WhiteSapphire 03-19-2005, 07:24 PM Yeah, sheba, I agree with you that sometimes it's hard to decide how to respond when people are asking the same questions over and over. Usually, I try to respond politely with both the answer and a link to the original discussion. I think a lot of people tend to ignore the Search box at the top of the page. theG 03-19-2005, 08:14 PM I post in more than two or three areas, but I don't feel it's redundant to do that. I'll post a link to the original discussion if it's on the same page. So many people will post a topic RIGHT above the same topic. That's a bit irritating, but I put in winks and whatnot. chocy bickie 03-19-2005, 08:51 PM 99.9% of my posts are redundant and can be ignored. Thats the way I like it. ;D See...another redundant post. WhiteSapphire 03-19-2005, 08:54 PM 99.9% of my posts are redundant and can be ignored.* Thats the way I like it.* ;D See...another redundant post. I disagree. This post wasn't redundant. It made me laugh. That makes it useful. ;) chocy bickie 03-19-2005, 09:03 PM Hmm thanks for pointing out my error. I must try harder next time. I'll try the vague and repetitive approach next time. ;D Varda 03-19-2005, 10:26 PM I only lurk in the discussions about the show, but most of the posts I do make here in Chit Chat are not redundant. Our conversations in here mutate and get highly off topic, though that is how I like it. In here, we talk about anything and everything. Other threads and posts can get very redundant, and that is why I only lurk there. peanutbutter101 03-19-2005, 10:43 PM I don't find my posts redudent. We (Varda, G, BurningStar,Ophelia and I), quite often hi-jack threads and turn them into other conversations so we don't talk about the same stuff (most of the time). But I would be offended if someone called my post redudent *coughcoughcoughgamingsectioncoughcoughcough*. XxNicholeexX 03-19-2005, 11:09 PM My posts are the most redundant posts you will ever come across. ;) *flys away throwing monkeys at everyone* theG 03-19-2005, 11:11 PM ::) Drop the "y" and add "ies." XxNicholeexX 03-19-2005, 11:14 PM ::) Drop the "y" and add "ies." I would, but I like the letter "y" today. Usually I hate that letter. Hiram 03-30-2005, 03:38 AM Please vote for Coke in the Pepsi vs. Coke contest! It's in the Chit Chat Section. No, I rarely write redundantly, that's what copy and paste is for! :lol2: Nuthin but luv! CapnHuFlungDu 03-30-2005, 12:20 PM Drop the y and add ies.....so it would be monkeies? Somehow that doesn't look quite right. :lol2: fanofangel 03-30-2005, 02:22 PM I voted no, I don't think so. I see dupes ever now and then, that doesn't mean I post in both, just depends. I'm quite happy here and have alot of fun. I think everybody rocks in ChitChat. P.S. Hiram is a pot stirrer :P but I still luv him. :-* Varda 03-30-2005, 02:26 PM Please vote for Coke in the Pepsi vs. Coke contest!* It's in the Chit Chat Section. excuse me, but the phrase is: Welcome! Please vote for Pepsi in the Chit Chat board and have fun on the site! I do need some more material though.... The White Lady 03-30-2005, 07:10 PM I always feel redundant, no matter where I'm posting or what I'm saying. And if I don't feel redundant, I feel st00pfid. :-X However, I do think a lot of my posts have been genuinely redunant lately. Since I missed the last two episodes of Lost, I've only been hanging out in Chit Chat, esp the LOTR thread. And almost every post has something in it that's me silently screaming "Read the bloody books!!! >:( " except more politely. . . ususally. :whistling2: There are so few intelligent discussions there that it's hard *not* to be redundant. . . Hiram 03-31-2005, 02:43 AM P.S. Hiram is a pot stirrer :P but I still luv him. :-* Thanks for the luv fanofangel! Right back at cha! :-* If you don't stir the pot all the good stuff goes to the bottom and all you get is broth! To coin a phrase. Hey, that sounded pretty good! You can quote that phrase as coming from me. What does that really mean, "to coin a phrase"? Does it mean to issue a phrase of your own origination, or something? prittygurl03 03-31-2005, 03:38 AM Sometimes I can agree with that. A lot of the posts are similar and when I reply to them, I say pretty much the same thing I said in the other ones. Merenwen 03-31-2005, 03:45 AM No I don't think so but then again I dunno *shurgs* |
