View Full Version : Time Paradox in Other Films

The idea of a "time paradox" has been introduced in the last episode. As evidenced by the episode ratings, this idea, intertwined with a true love story, was a hit with the fans. It reminded me of a few other films, which explored or incorporated this idea in the storytelling. I thought it'd be fun to see if we can come up with other films/ shows which deal with this concept.

Here is my list:

The Lake House
Ditto (http://www.amazon.com/Ditto-Ji-tae-Yu/dp/B00006IUKE/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=dvd&qid=1204438243&sr=8-1)
Il Mare (http://www.amazon.com/il-Mare-Story-Jung-Jae-Lee/dp/B000087F3Z/ref=pd_sim_d_img_7)

I loved Ditto, and really liked The Lake House, but I haven't watched Il Mare. I would like to, though.

Ooh, I found that movie slightly disturbing, but it goes really well with the whole time-travel theory - I could tell the filmmakers really thought it out.

It has a good ending, too.

That's quite a list. I saw Sleeper on there, and had forgotten that it's sort of a time travel type of movie. Love that film! It's very funny. Thanks for the links.

The way the time travel is accomplished seems similar.

Deja Vu
Frequency- and weird fact: Elizabeth Mitchell (Juliet) is also in this, playing someone named Jules, and the guy who played Kate's lawyer in "Eggtown" is also in it...playing someone named Jack Shepherd!

Those are three I really liked...

Yep, he did tons of extra work the while I was growing up. Was your reply meant to be rude?- because it sure comes off that way.

No, it was not meant to be rude. I only referenced the nose, because that was a huge comic device in the movie. I apologize if it came across as rude in any way. It's very cool that your father's stepfather got to work in that movie.

No worries- even funnier(to us since we knew it was him)was that he also was shown coming down the escalator before they went up to see the president.

Did you check the link to Somewhere in Time? Did it seem like a similar type of time travel to you? I saw the movie when it came out in the theater so it is a really old memory.

That is so weird there was a summary of the entire movie. I tried again, but while I was able to locate the page thru google, it doesn't seem to work if I link it.

Ok, I found a summary of it and it sounds very interesting. It sounds like the kind of time travel that occurs via the mind. In this case, time travel is possible by way of hypnosis, as opposed to radiation. Thanks for sharing the link.

Btw, if anyone decides to watch any of these movies, please share your reviews. Thanks.

Both Back to the Future and Hiro from Heroes deal with time travel. I believe in Futurama Fry creates the Grandfather paradox
