So who else has insomnia and can't sleep through the night?

Anyway I thought it would be fun to have a thread for the night owls of the Lage.

lately i've been getting to bed at around 4 or 5 am... better than last week though... went to bed then at like 7 or 8am... i'm not even doing anything really...

I'm definately a night owl. *I rarely ever sleep through the night, even on the rare occasions I can even get to sleep at a decent hour. *::) *Gives me plenty of Fuse time, though. *;) My brain is just on a different timetable - it only kicks into gear after midnight.

I am such a night owl :( I wish I wasn't....I have college that I have to wake up for too so that sucks, but I seem to manage. I usually go to bed around 4-5am

Yea I have scheduled my classes in the afternoon since I started school :laugh: I only have classes Mon-Wed though because 2 of them are online classes 8)

yeah this semester, i've got one class monday afternoon, one class tuesday night, and an online class ;D i've been such a slacker this semester, it's not even close...

I have 2 classes on Mon Wed, one class on Tues...then 2 classes online, my classes suck this semester so I've been busy studying lots :(

oh, what are you studying? the only brutal class i have right now is psychopharmacology... jinkys... honestly, it's not that bad...

I'm a psych major, sociology minor. I'm taking Psychology of Personality and I'm taking Political Science, Philosophy, Women's Studies and African American Studies (The last 4 I have to take because of the stupid "core") ::) I've got a lot of the classes I need to take for my major out of the way though, so thats good :)

I took Psychological Statistics last semester and that sucked but I somehow managed to get a B, and I have taken a pharmacology class which sucked as well but also managed to get a B

that's awesome... i'm in my 3rd year of grad school getting my doctorate for clinical psychology... the classes i was most worried about coming in were stats and psychopharm... stats was actually a breeze (having a great prof helped too), and psychopharm is manageable... i did well on the first exam, but the prof said the grade range was from the 40s to mid 90s... jinkys!

I only have classes on Mon, Wed, and Fri from 9:30-2:20 (4 classes a day). I'm SO pissed. I went to go get advised cause I wanted to go into physical therapy. Yeah, I don't even remember the reasons why but I can't go into it. It wasn't cause of grades or anything cause I'm going good in everything. I was just too mad to pay attention to why I couldn't. There was a CRAP load of sciences to take and all I remember is the lady saying that if I took those courses, I would be at the same level as a pre-med student. Well, now, I have no idea what to do. Nothing else really interests me. I'm frustrated! *:-\

I'm thinking of going back to school and getting my degree in Psychology. I'd love to specifically work with kids. I've always been fascinated with how the brain works.

yeah i used to be a bio major, i wanted to be a pediatrician... then, i got all the way to organic chemistry... can we say, bloodbath? extremely in-depth stuff like that just did not interest me at all... oh, and calculus sucked too... then again, it had been 3 full semesters before i had to take calculus, so that didn't help... thanks, Aurora *;D

I also have a friend that took Massage theripy. It's taken him just over a year and a half to become certified. From what he told me there is alot of memory work involved in it.

It's rather sad, I "negotiated" my way through school...I would trade insights on "Wuthering Heights" and "Hamlet" and revise my friend's essays for them, in trade for peeks at the math and science homework answers. It was an efficient system, too. I was the English teacher's aide, and my best friend was our Math teacher's aide. So we could sneak peaks at upcoming essay topics and test questions, and trade info. I'm sure I could've done just fine on my own, but I lacked proper motivation. I've never been able to get excited over a bunch of numbers (well, until Lost - and I only worried over those for one night, then said screw it). :laugh:

2:30 in the afternoon....I'm gonna attempt to wake up somewhat early and continue to study, somewhat early to me is like 10:30 :laugh: One of my friends from school is in that class with me and I asked her today if she had been studying and shes like "no....but I guess I should" lol, she is going to fail, I'll probably fail and I've studied!

Just for some history:

In this class, we had to translate this 18th century english philosophy mumbo jumbo to modern english, the paper was like 8 pages long....it took me over a week!!! And I got a C+, my friend she got an F!....and a couple ppl in the class got a B- which was the highest grade, so this shows you what I'm dealing with lol

Just be careful when you take Philosophy. If your school has some sort of website where you can see information about your professors I'd highly check that out and make sure you get a good prof! Sadly, this professor is the best one at my school in that department, I guess they're all really hard, but I hear my prof curves, so I guess that will help us out in the end.

I can understand him most of the time but the thing is, when I was getting advised, my adviser said he was hard. I thought she *just* meant he was hard cause of his accent. Nope, the class is hard. We're having a test on this book about immigration next Monday. He was like, "You should know this book backwards and fowards." Shyeah right! lol

Sorry I left for like 30 minutes! It's cause my sister called and we like to talk. lol We had a discussion about Lost, which is always fun. She was also trying to encourage me to screw what my advisers said and to go into physical therapy. I love my sister. lol But guess what?!?!? I just realized something (this is to those of you who know my dilema about going into that major): the lady was saying that she was going to deny my request because I'm not going to be able to go RIGHT into the program. I have to take my 90 hours of pre requisites and THEN apply to the program. I'm thinking again of going ahead with it. I'm just so damn terrified...yes, terrified of taking calculus. So scary. lol So yeah, I'm going to make sure that that is what she was trying to tell me. If it is, then she shouldn't have given me the huge explanation. :lol2:

Aurora, go for it!! You can always get a tutor for calculus or join a study group and work through it! You should do what you want and follow your dream :)

I remember when l took calculus I was scared of it too. Are you good at math Aurora? If you are you shouldn't have a problem with it. After you get into it its not so bad. Its been awhile since I took it I've probably forgotten everything by now.

I've always gotten good grades in math (algebra, algebra 2, geometry) but on the other hand, I almost died in pre-cal (in high school). My teacher SUCKED! Didn't help at all. My dad is good at math so he can always help me and yes, there are lots of tutors. Study groups are what helped me in pre-cal and I'm sure they can help me in calculus. I will always be like this > :fear3: when I think of that subject. lol After I talk to my adviser again to clear things up, I'll make my final decision. I really want to be a physical therapist. In my opinion the teacher makes or breaks the class. I had one teacher that when he taught the class he would spend the entire class talking to the blackboard. It was tough trying to figger out what he was doing.

Teachers like are...blah. There was this one time when me and some other people had a question on this problem. We asked if we were doing the steps right and my teacher said, "Maybe" and left. That was horrible. Plus, he would give us notes and they would be very easy to understand. Once we got to our actual assignment, :blink: it was like a totally different subject.

Gosh it's been so long since I've been near a school. High school was like a weird dream. I liked college much better. The atmosphere was more relaxed and laid back. I remember one class I took a guy was sleeping in the back and the teacher just looked at him and shrugged, he didn't care the guy had paid his tuition fee. It was actually kinda funny thinking back on it.

I liked high school a lot and I like college a lot. lol I agree, college is more laid back. Some teachers hate when students fall asleep and some don't. It's funny to see them get in trouble, though. lol I just hate that some of the HUGE classes take attendence. If the student doesn't want to be there, it's their problem. The professor should just be happy that they're getting paid. lol

Exactly what should it matter too them. They are getting paid to do that class weither that person is there (in mind or body) or not.

I had a test I was studying for alllllllll day, a psych test mind you. I took it at 7pm, then had to go to the library to find 10 books for my 10 page paper in psychology, then rented some movies, watched one of them, and now I'm bored and kinda tired, but not sleepy.

jinkys, that sucks up until the renting of movies... what did you get? i was at internship at 8am, there until 3pm, went to my aunt's to pick up something, went back to my apt to waiting roommates who i was supposed to give a lift to Dulles, from which i got totally lost trying to get back home, did some errands, got home at 9pm or so... good times

Ew internship at 8, way too early for me :) I rented The Cube (classic movie haha) and Finding Neverland (mmmm Johnny D) :P

No I haven't....I realized a few days ago when I was at Blockbuster that there was a PREQUEL....Cube Zero, so I was like, hmmm and I never actually knew there was a sequel to The Cube, I had seen it a long time ago with some friends, and I liked it but never really followed it. So tonight I just thought about renting the original, to see the prequel....and I realized while I was looking for the original that there is also a sequel, so I'll probably rent that tomorrow or whenever I go there again. Is the sequel good? Does it answer any questions?

not really, it's basically new people in a different more intense cube... but the ending sheds SOME light on the people behind the cube or whoever is behind the cube...

i honestly don't remember, it could've been the same cube but enhanced... but whatever it was, it was just that-- enhanced... first one was better though... or the original... not the prequel... ack

Star, I just watched Finding Neverland yesterday! It was WONDERFUL!! Definitely a must own!!

Ooh, Finding Neverland is great, a really lovely movie. Though so sad, a true tear-jerker. But a beautiful film, nonetheless, and Johnny Depp's scottish accent was really amazing. And the boy who played Peter was great too, I loved his performance. I waited to see it until it came out on dvd - the extras I watched were pretty good - the bloopers are hilarious!

I should really go to bed now...but I rarely ever do what I should. :P
