Speaking of that, when Horace Goodspeed was on the island, did his wife come with him? I can't remember dvg 03-07-2008, 04:17 AM I didn't get the feeling that Goodwin and Harper were in a marriage that had gone bad. It seemed to me more like they were arranged to be together. There was a cult-like resignation in the way Goodwin talked about it. I am wondering if Ben forced couples to be together for strategic (or other) reasons. He certainly tried to manipulate Juliet and he was opposed to Karl/Alex (an 'organic' relationship). It's hard to describe, but Goodwin didn't seem like a distraught husband looking for shelter in the arms of The Other Woman. He didn't seem like the typical unhappy husband, but instead rather emotionless. Lost-I-Am 03-07-2008, 09:17 AM i just think they were on the island for too long, with each other for too long and once Juliet got there, he felt an attraction with her.. (4.8.15.16.23.42) 03-07-2008, 09:19 AM I also got the sense that it could be some sort of arranged relationship. Of course, if you've been on that Island for a while, with Ben in control, your relationship would probably be strained. BuffyMars 03-07-2008, 10:36 AM I agree. I think someone (Probably Ben) controlled every aspect of their lives, including marriage. They didn't seem to love each other, but Harper was scared that Ben would be upset if their marriage broke up. Maybe because he arranged it. |
