so after Ben said something like "I should have clued you in earlier," i started thinking.

why didn't Ben and his crew approach the Losties from the very beginning and just tell them everything?

Ben obviously had no intention of letting them all leave (as in being picked up by a rescue plane that wasn't going to come) so why not just roll up and say "hey, you can't leave so why don't you come with us and live your life out here..."

now, some people would refuse but maybe after awhile and after explaining what seems like several reasons why they can't leave (time shifts, even horizons, and bad people trying to find the island), Jack and crew might just settle in and accept their fate.

Ben could have just said, "well, like it or lump it. you can either live in a house like a civilized person or sleep on the beach...either way you're not going home."

seems lot a lot to go through to just ultimately have some people living on the beach for the rest of their lives thinking they'll get rescued.

if they didn't need any of the Losties would they just have let them rot on the beach?

i guess we wouldn't have a show if it didn't play out like it did.

They obviously didn't want everyone to come stay, hence the "lists" and "good ones", ect. Jacob has a plan that isn't obvious to us.

If that was done, the show would be very boring to watch imo.
Just look at the amazing season two.
