View Full Version : Help from the ladies?
XxNicholeexX 03-10-2008, 06:17 PM I'm 17 and a Junior in high school and I'm going to be attending prom next month. Next year as a Senior I won't be going to prom because I plan on graduating early. I was just wondering if I could get an opinion on a dress to wear?
Currently these are the candidates. I like some more than others and just wanted other people's opinion since I can't decide on my own.

If I were going to prom I would pick that dress, it has a very classic cut to it and it will stand out. Good luck picking a dress
PenguinLove 03-10-2008, 06:59 PM it depends in your body type of course, but I'd go with http://www.unique-vintage.com/images/unique-vintage/7693larger.jpg good luck and have fun at your prom! :)
My first pick would be the first one, very feminine, love it. Second choice is the red one. I think it depends on your personality. Are you more soft and floral or are you bold and red? :)
BOBBY 03-10-2008, 07:19 PM I'm not a lady, but i think i know what i like, the second dress is stunning, you'd look teh HOTNESS in that i'm sure,
have a great one one, i remember mine so well, ten years ago, man where does the time go !!
Jack Sawyer 03-10-2008, 11:55 PM I'm a dude too, but a guys input is good too, right? I think the first two are hot. Very beautiful dresses. The others remind me of girls from the 50's. Depends what youre going for. But the first two define classic beauty for me.
Enjoy your prom, and don't be out too late.
EDIT: ok, I take back the 50's comment, that wasn't quite right. I don't know dresses sorry. Guess that's why she asked the girls.
Blue Coral 03-11-2008, 12:17 PM Jack Sawyer, youre right, it does look like the 50s, but not that theres anything wrong with that.;)
The first one is very feminine, but for your only prom, I'd pass on it.
The second one is, as some of the guys have said, very hot.
The third one is classy.
My pick is the fourth one. Red and bold!! It makes a WOW statement while pink does tend to blend in. It all depends on the shade of your skin.
But I'd pick the red one. Talk about hot!
pinkrose 03-11-2008, 01:39 PM Personally I like the first one, but definitely try on your top picks. Sometimes a dress you love in pictures doesn't look so hot once you put it on. It also works in reverse, one you don't like so much in pictures looks great on.

They do have a 50's look, which is part of the appeal to me. :)
I think I'm going to order the first one and the red one then decide between the two. I might end up keeping both and wearing the one I don't wear to prom, to a banquet in May. I ended up ruling out the pink one because, while I do like it a lot, I did forget to take into consideration skin tone, and pink looks dreadful with my skin tone.
100%
I've run into a problem. I was going to order the ivory dress in a medium so that my chest would fit and have the waist and hips altered to be smaller, but the only size in stock is a large, and if I were to get that I would have to have the waist and hips altered 8 inches each and maybe even the chest an inch or two depending. :-/
pinkrose 03-12-2008, 11:52 AM Is it possible to order it from a different store that might have your size?

My vote goes to the red dress. You can never go wrong with a red dress. ;)
Enjoy the prom.
badjo 03-13-2008, 05:37 AM Ohhh the first dress is just gorgeous.
mom2haylil 03-13-2008, 05:46 PM Well, if you can't get the first dress or the pink dress. I say go for the last dress in red or black- skip navy. The fuller cut skirt won't confine your movement at least.
Bella 03-15-2008, 01:02 AM I actually like the tuxedo dress -- it's really pretty, unique, and you could wear your hair up, put on some glam make-up, and it would be very reminiscent of old Hollywood and Audrey Hepburn -- but with a twist.
It's definitely retro, but in a very cool way.
myothercarisflight815 03-15-2008, 01:34 AM And red was big at the Oscars this year...
... but the first one is stunning.

It's definitely retro, but in a very cool way.I absolutely adore Audrey Hepburn. Two years ago the theme for our winter ball was "Dancing through the Decades" so I went dressed up as her from Breakfast at Tiffany's. I'm nothing like most people my age in the sense that I'm obsessed with the old Hollywood glamour.

Wow!
I didn't know that about you (obviously), but that dress screams old Hollywood to me and actresses looked so gorgeous back then. Very glamorous, very elegant.
You HAVE to post pics if you end up choosing this dress. (Well, even if you don't, I'm sure we'd all like to see whichever one you do choose.)

:biggrin:Within days of posting this thread the majority of the dresses ended up being out of stock in a size that would fit me, or entirely out of stock. I didn't get that one. I purchased the first one and I'm going to get it altered to fit me. Hopefully it will get here by Tuesday.
I want it to be April already.

Congrats -- the first one was gorgeous, too! April's almost here. Don't rush it, or the big night will be over sooner. ;)
kayden 03-18-2008, 01:25 PM I don't like the first dress...I like the pink one and the red one. :)
Boone's blue eyes 04-10-2008, 05:10 PM The first one is absolutley BEAUTIFUL and STUNNING! I hope it got to you on time!
wanders01 04-10-2008, 05:29 PM The red dress if your coloring allows it. It's a classic design that is never out of style.
and you'll stand out.

Oh, that's too bad. I would've voted for the red one.
HOWEVER, the first dress is beautiful as well! I hope you have an awesome time at your prom! I still haven't decided if I'm going to my senior prom yet... It's only about a month away, lol.
It's nice to hear from you again, BTW. I haven't seen you around here in a while.
PapaThor 05-08-2008, 07:47 PM I would have gone with the pink one. Classic lines and shape.
30 years from now you won't be embarrassed to show your prom pictures to anyone. Unless of course your figure goes all to hell.
Signed,
MamaThor
Pink Human 05-08-2008, 07:55 PM So, how did things go with the dress? Did it come in on time and were you able to get it altered so that it fit you?
