Do you folks think that in the next few seasons will mainly focus on Jack,Kate,Hurley,Sun and Sayeed efforts to get back to the Island? Will the main mystery be what happened to the other survivors and their fate told in Flashback? What are your thoughts?

Good question. It's hard to speculate. At the end of season 2, I would have no reason to think season 4 would be all about the freighter element. But I think we can say that the Oceanic 6 get off of the island within the next 3 weeks (Sun needs to so she doesn't die).
The way they have been slowly getting through the days, the first 7 episodes span 3 days. They might not leave until season 6 is over :) But I think they will get off in the season finale. Season 5 will show the Oceanic 6 off island and we will see Locke's camp on island. Season 6 will be them trying to get back, maybe? I don't know.

This season has been really good. Alot of differently styled episodes in a row. No more 3 episodes story archs about Sawyer hiding medicine or guns, that's for sure.

What are your thoughts? My take is that I think we saw the very last scene of the series, the one that shows Jack begging Kate to go back to the Island with the jet liner flying overhead. This could also keep the option open for future projects.Jaws would drop remembering that past scene.Just an idea.GRANDPA:)

First of all I I can not think of any other show in TV that is so innovative. It would be great if the next few seasons dealt with the efforts to get back to the Island. Take us off the Island for a while and keep us wondering what happened to the other passengers. The flash forwards of Jack and Hurley were like a domino effect in a way. Jack was cool at Kate's trial and seeing Hurley but we know know that he does not remain that way. Hurley was cool going to Korea to see Sun but we know he does not remain that way. Will Kate,Sayid and Sun fall to the guilt of not telling the truth? or holding in the truth?

One thing I found interesting that Ben Linus said in the Economist was that Sayid was protecting his friends. Is he protecting the O6? Are they in danger of being killed for what they know? The last time Sayid felt with his heart and not his gun something major happened. I can't wait to find out what even if it takes 2 seasons.

I think we might partially catch up to some of the early flashforwards, and then we will start following two stories--island story and off-island story. There will be, perhaps, a lot of drama that the two sides don't really know what is going on with each other.

I've been wondering about how the plot would go as well for next season. I guess it would only make sense that their would be two story lines; one off and one on island. I can't see the TPTB take a year break from Locke, Sawyer, etc just to explore the O6 off island.

Whatever it may be, the episodes are going to be fantastic!

I believe season five deals with the O6 off the island, and the struggle to rebuild the island without Ben (or not, maybe, who knows). I also believe the last scene of season 5 will be Jack and Kate at the airport (the same as season 3) but the story will be based on Kate's view of the previous days (the phone rings a few times, she sees it's Jack and doesn't answer because he committed treason and steals pills). And I believe season 6 will be based on some or all of the 06 returning to the island to "make things right".

I'm probably way off.

I believe I read somewhere recently that this season would focus
on who gets off the island, next season why they need to get back
and the last season what happens when they get back.

Remember that Dalton wanted Lost to be only 5 seasons and ABC tagged on another season for $$$ reasons.

I can only imagine how the story would have been told if Lost really were only 5 seasons and where we would be in the storyline.

I believe that in the 5th and 6th seasons we will see more of Ben and maybe Daniel and maybe some new characters. And of course, I am hoping to see Rachel Blake, but I know it's a long shot.

And Vincent. He had better make it off the Island or else help the Losties to survive.

Go Vincent!

I think season 4 will end with the mystery of what happened to the people on island as the O6 were leaving. Which leads to my ideal season 5:

The first half will focus on the O6. There will be one episode for each O6er, to learn how their lives have progressed off island. I think we'll be seeing them in the future (relative to current island time), with flashbacks about what happened after they made land. We need to see their lives deteriorate to the point where they need to find the island again (or at least see it with Jack and Hurley. Kate seems pretty happy...). I think we'll also get at least one island flashback per character which will hint at the outcome of the S4 finale.

At the mid point of the season, I hope for shared episode, (like Exodus), that shows O6 island flashbacks, and finally gives us the outcome of the S4 finale, from different O6 perspectives. We see a meeting of the characters that want to find the island again.

Then the season will shift focus to the island, and those who remained behind (I just can't believe TPTB would kill everyone off. Otherwise, why would Jack be so desperate to get back?)

The finale will be back with the O6, and focus on how Jack and hopefully some of the other O6 make it back to the island.

There will be wild card episodes in each half (to make up for the episodes we didn't get this season). These will focus on characters we haven't "heard from" before, like Danielle and Widmore (and Vincent and Christen?), and their back stories and relation to the island.

The 50/50 split of focus runs the danger of repeating the dreaded Jack/Kate/Sawyer mini-season that caused season 3 so much trouble, but I think this would be the best way of preserving the island mystery and establishing the O6 post-rescue.

As much I love the speculation, I 110% believe that season 4 will end with the final scene from season 3.
Season 5 will be why and how they go back to the island.
Season 6 will be what actually takes place once they're back (by this point, I think the flashbacks/forwards will be gone from the show - maybe some new innovative storytelling element we've yet to see will take their place). Though maybe, just maybe....we'll see on-island flashbacks of the characters who don't leave the island at the end of this season.

That's not completely true, they compromised so that there are the same number of episodes either way. Instead of getting 2 more seasons of 24 hours we got 3 seasons of 16. either way it adds up to 48 hours.

The WGA strike probably messed things up more than stretching the 48 hours into 3 seasons instead of 2 will.
