View Full Version : Could Sayid Kick the Captain's ***? teksmith 03-20-2008, 11:12 PM The dude looks pretty tough, but I am thinking Sayid could take him. It is really a close call though. XxNicholeexX 03-20-2008, 11:14 PM Sayid could take anyone. Aversion 03-20-2008, 11:15 PM Sayid's definitely not the strongest of the men in the show, he doesn't really seem to be the best trained either, but I think what separates him from the rest is his experiences. I wouldn't bet against him. The captain might be some kind of mercenary but he behaves like a jackass, Sayid is nothing if not serious at all times. Bella 03-20-2008, 11:16 PM I don't know... Captain Hottie, er, Gault is pretty badass. Save_The_Hobbit 03-20-2008, 11:16 PM Sayid should seriously have his own line of Chuck Norris jokes. Hell, Sayid broke that guys neck with his legs--he could easily take on Chuck Norris. Diesels Blitz 03-20-2008, 11:18 PM Sayid should seriously have his own line of Chuck Norris jokes. Hell, Sayid broke that guys neck with his legs--he could easily take on Chuck Norris. Haha so true! Sayid against Gault would be one heck of a fight. JohnnyIgaloo 03-20-2008, 11:53 PM Yeah Sayid is like the Jack Bauer of the island. SQT 03-20-2008, 11:54 PM I think that Sayid will bring in the paper bag full of Lima bean cans and whack the captain with them. If he can see his opponent, he cannot be beat. 100% You'd have to cuff Sayid's right wrist to his left ankle to make it fair. Sayid can be beat if you appeal to his heart over his head, apparently. Why else would he turn in Michael? Princeex86 03-24-2008, 04:18 AM sayid is good, really good, but he's not the undisputed fighting champion on the island. I still say that Sawyer and Jin are right up there with him. Saywer and Sayid were even in their fight after the crash, and Jin beat the crap out of Mikhail just like Sayid did, only without Kate's intervention. But I have to say, I wasn't really that impressed with the Captain's fighting. It didn't seem anything out of the ordinary. I was more impressed with Jin's, Sawyer's, and even Locke's last season than with the Captains. Besides, it seemed more like his crew members were afraid to fight back. That doesn't gauge toughness of physical abilities, it generates toughness of status. I think a better question is whether or not Desmond could take the Captain. heh, since he haven't really seen desmond fight other than his seemingly trademark grab you by the collar move. which ironically enough, acidently killed a man! HAH. CarpeDiem23 03-24-2008, 08:29 AM Sayid and Jin are heading to Wrestlemania to capture the tag titles i heard! Burnt Sienna 03-24-2008, 12:10 PM Why physically grapple with anyone when you can more easily snipe them while concealed in the jungle. A bullet in the brains or heart will bring down any man, except maybe Locke, whose missing those attributes along with a kidney. That said, Jack/Kate/Sawyer would probably beat all of the above, since they are the eternal stars of the show. Even Hurley has beaten him up! Jin is not in Sayid's league. Sayid owned Mikhail from beginning to end, even though Kate came in to finish him off. Jin was thoroughly beat by Mikhail until the very end, when he saw an opportunity to use a strong Taekwondo combo. I'm surprised this is even a question, now that we've seen Sayid kill a man in about 2 seconds from a sitting position, unarmed, with his hands tied behind his back. They should stop calling the people on the island "the survivors" and "the Others" and just call everyone "the people Sayid has allowed to live." not_me_brother 03-24-2008, 08:29 PM I was watching part of Smokin Aces last night and the guy who plays the Captain was in it and doing some major damage in a fight scene. They should stop calling the people on the island "the survivors" and "the Others" and just call everyone "the people Sayid has allowed to live." yeah hurley beat him up when sawyer didn't fight back. sawyer doesnt USUALLY fight back when people hit him, in case you havent noticed, but when he does, he managed to get an AK-47 in a field of about 20 others fighting off three of them at least. He also has by far the highest tolerance for pain out of anyone on the island. Sides...that fight with hurley was just plain HILARIOUS!! ^.^ (sides when a guy that size tackles you...theres no getting out from under.) As for the jin sayid mikhail fight....what fight were you watchingt? mikhail kicked sayid clear across the room and bopped him a good three times before sayid had any counter to offer. the fight with jin and mikhail was back and forth even until the end when Jin pulled the kick. and people who don't know anything about fighting really overestimate how hard that move is to do. you get your legs around someone's neck, you dont even have to FLICK them to break it. people forget that the legs are about 4 times the strength of your arms. charlie could have pulled thatm ove against that other...or boone for that matter. hell...claire could have done it. Despite the Eko's incredible strength, size, and quickness, I still have to give it to Sayid in an even fight. Sayid is just too clever and knowledgeable a fighter. Take his fight with Mikhail. Sayid is in so much pain from his gunshot from Mikhail (and subsequent sewing up of the wound from Mikhail, and subsequent punching of the sewn up wound from Mikhail) that he can't stand upright. So since he has to crouch anyway, he gives him an elbow to the knee joint! That's like the snake in the mailbox... or the spanish inquisition... no one expects the elbow to the knee joint! We haven't really seen desmond fight other than his grab you by the collar and angrily scream at you manuver. so it would be nice to see him actually have a fist fight. I also think Sawyer and Jin could take the captain. it would be interesting to see Jack verses the captain though. lostlocke 04-21-2008, 01:17 PM Sayid could kick alot of people's butts!! That's not the only reason I like him though!! He could definitely take the captain. Michaud 04-26-2008, 06:13 PM To inject a little reality here, Sayid is a short guy with no arm reach. Gault would swat him like a fly. No contest. If the rules of the fight were The Queensberry Rules, then reach would probably be a factor. As I said above though I've witnessed a 70+ year old five-and-a-half foot tall Tai Chi master throw a mid-twenties hulk [also trained to a high standard in the same martial art] fifteen feet across a room, with barely a flick of the wrists. It's all about application. Size becomes irrelevant. The reality is that size matters very little with the right training and application. That's not to say that size can't be an advantage, but you still have to understand how to use that advantage to your benefit. My money's still on Sayid. The fight I'd prefer to see is Jin vs Sayid. That would be interesting. :) |
