View Full Version : Anybody else catch this?
Saphiamond 04-28-2008, 06:11 AM CLAIRE: Yeah, a bit wobbly, but, uh, I'll live.
MILES: Well, I wouldn't be too sure about that.
Didn't catch it the first couple times...I thought Miles skill was in regards to the deceased but perhaps he can see more of the
"circle"/curve ahead and knows Clair is doomed...or maybe he knows of a certain order or plan to do away with her specifically...i know, far less likely but just another idea.
Your thoughts on Miles foreknowledge of Clair's death???
Outrajess 04-28-2008, 06:19 AM Yeah, I'm surprised more people haven't mentioned this.
It's clear he can "see" things in the future or can tell what's going to happen.
He knew Michael's name wasn't Kevin Johnson and didn't he say something like "Oh it won't matter for a while..."
We all know something happens to Claire...this kind of confirms what....
GotLost4815162342 04-28-2008, 07:41 AM I took this to have a similar meaning to the conversation between Naomi and Abadon (the guy who visited Hurley in the Mental hospital, saying he was a lawyer for Oceanic). I believe a comment was made by Naomi asking "What if there are any survivors from Ocieanic 815?" and Abadon responded with an emphatic "There are no survivors of Oceanic 815. Now that in combination with Daniel's admission that they were never there to rescue the survivors, tells me that they are there to kill them all. So Miles comment is probably just based on his knowledge of their plans.
Meano Franko 04-28-2008, 08:24 AM I thought the missle blowing up Claire's house was a quick and easy way to get rid of her. But then she lives! It's almost laughable how she was fine AND Sawyer was untouched by the rain of bullets that seemed to be so well fired at the background Losties. Their survival really made Alex's death very surprising. I thought all the major characters were going to survive this raid. Such a good episode.
Claire's going down, just when and where will be tricky. I see a helicopter in her future!
augustwest 04-28-2008, 08:58 AM i agree-
i was a little shocked at first signs of her quick demise, but was even more surprised when she is under a piece of wood in a completely destroyed home...
Alex being 'offed' was a total shocker
Ben's plan didnt go as smoothly as he thought.
Hanami 04-28-2008, 09:01 AM He was simply referring to the fact that there were people outside who were kind of trying to invade the barracks... I don't think he knows Claire will die. He talks to dead people, but he's not psycic... That's Desmond...

That was my take on it. It was just a reaction to their immediate circumstances.

I agree 100%, I took the line to be just a little piece of comic relief.
Lea_Lost 04-28-2008, 11:30 AM Well, I prefer to understand this line as a simple reference to the fact that they all are in mortal danger.
kansasgal71 04-28-2008, 11:35 AM The fact that Miles is privy to some unknown way to gain knowledge, such as Michael not being Kevin, I would say you are correct that he knows something about Claire....
EmptyJar 04-28-2008, 12:35 PM Maybe the whole "kill the 815ers" plot by widmore and his crew came AFTER the release of Michael and Walt by Ben. Think about it, Widmore faked the crash even tho, lets say, it leaked to him that there were survivors on Ben's island. The fact that some made it home would greatly compromise Widmores faked crash... so, in order to protect it, he then must make sure that NONE of them make it back alive now. Kinda like its part of the game in a way...

Okay, this calls for another thread. It is like everyone forgot about Des telling Charlie that he saw Claire on the helicopter!

I agree that the fact that Claire lived was laughable when there are toothpicks left of her house... and Sawyer too. UNLESS Jacob/the island kept them alive (their work is not done?).
I also think Claire will die.
Saphiamond 04-28-2008, 01:21 PM Miles definitely is privy to some other knowledge. If it's not his ability that told him this about Clair then I think he definitely is aware of Widmore's plans to ensure his cover up plane turns up no survivors on the mainland. (aka Capricorn One)
Beach Bum 04-28-2008, 01:41 PM CLAIRE: Yeah, a bit wobbly, but, uh, I'll live.

Maybe but I think he was just refering to the current situation that they were in. If he could see the future or the "circle of life" he would have made a lot more money in the real world and would not have had to come to the island in the first place. And 3.2 million dollars would have meant almost nothing to him. so Im sure he was just being sarcastic, prob not much more than that.
Team Taskmaster 04-28-2008, 01:47 PM Deadly ex-military armed to the hilt. Bullets flying. An already complicated system of lies and plotting, all (seemingly) designed to get Ben at just about any expense.
Miles is just stating the obvious: Claire is now located in the same house as the man those shooters seem willing to kill anyone to get to, and the odds for all of them are not too hot. They picked off the log-carriers and launched a rocket right into her house, for crying out loud! These guys are serious and ruthless. They are ALL in danger.
kansasgal71 04-28-2008, 01:52 PM Teamtackmaster, you are probably right. I just like the idea of Miles being able to hear the same whispers or ghosts or whatever it is that talks to and guides Ben. I wish Miles would have gone with Ben Lock and Hurley to Jacob's cabin.

The Island will not let them die!
Saphiamond 04-28-2008, 02:07 PM Yeah I wish Miles would've gone with Lock also!
too2strange 04-28-2008, 02:23 PM Yeah I wish Miles would've gone with Lock also!
Gee, where did Miles go? Did he follow Sawyer and Claire? I missed that, when the guns came out and Hurley said he would go with Locke and Ben...I was distracted.
kansasgal71 04-28-2008, 02:25 PM SAWYER: You know what? I'm done with all this. I never should have followed you wackos in the first place. I'm goin' back to the beach, and Claire and the kid are comin' with me. (To Claire) You good with that?
(Aaron begins to cry.)
CLAIRE: Yeah, I'm good with that.
MILES: I'm coming with you.
too2strange 04-28-2008, 02:31 PM SAWYER: You know what? I'm done with all this. I never should have followed you wackos in the first place. I'm goin' back to the beach, and Claire and the kid are comin' with me. (To Claire) You good with that?

MILES: I'm coming with you.
So, Miles is in deep do-do and the survivors are his better beat?

I'd like to see whether Miles is able to perceive Jacob too, and if so, what he makes of him.
Also, given Miles' abilities, I wonder if he'll ever use them to talk to Alex. How do you think Ben would handle that? He's gotta be aware of Miles'' abilities. If Miles was looking for something to hold over Ben, using his ability to talk to Alex would be a good trump card.
Doesn't seem like it's likely to happen because so much is going on right now, but under different circumstances…I don't know. I think it would be interesting.

What a great idea. Could you imagine Ben's face????

Ditto.
UnsungHero108 04-28-2008, 03:41 PM I think he was simply referring to the impending assault by Keamy and the other freighties.
