View Full Version : Bens shocked look? augustwest 04-28-2008, 09:28 AM was ben shocked that alex was killed, or that his plan didnt work? just a quick thought... he is the master of manipulation, and failed. baylady 04-28-2008, 09:30 AM I thought his shock and dispair was genuine. That guy -- just when you want to hate him the most, you start to feel sorry for him. Well, I did, anyway. augustwest 04-28-2008, 12:59 PM i felt bad as well, but his look of disappointment, was that from the loss of his daughter, or his failure to manipulate properly? WannaGetLost 04-28-2008, 01:07 PM I think he was shocked it actually happened, because Widmore broke the rules!!!! scoobygirl 04-28-2008, 01:15 PM I'm not a fan of Ben however I have to agree with "baylady" his emotions were genuine. Alex was everything to Ben, probably the only person he has truely loved.:frown: robbotis 04-28-2008, 01:22 PM I think he was shocked it actually happened, because Widmore broke the rules!!!! But what rules? The rule is they can't kill anyone? I think the 1st person Ben killed was one of the Arab's in his FF. This was before his daighter was killed, right? So, Ben broke the rule(if that was the rule)? augustwest 04-28-2008, 01:26 PM rules that they cant kill eachothers daughters (family)?? kind of like "lets not let this game get personal" Aversion 04-28-2008, 03:12 PM rules that they cant kill eachothers daughters (family)?? kind of like "lets not let this game get personal" Yeah, right, it's made pretty clear in the episode that Ben did not expect them to kill his daughter because of a prior agreement with Charles Widmore that their families weren't to be involved. It was nothing to do with Ben's plan not working out or his manipulation not succeeding, he was under the impression that Widmore's mercenaries would be under orders not to harm his family. Hence the surprise. For whatever reason these two titans cannot attack each other directly, one cannot kill the other - that was made clear, and it makes sense that given these circumstances they would agree that their families should not be drawn into their battle. Charles apparently broke these rules and Ben has now vowed to kill his daughter, Penny. At the time of the shooting we did not know any of this and were supposed to be confounded by Ben's apparent laissez-faire attitude towards the capture of his daughter. OhNoTheOthers 04-28-2008, 03:58 PM Maybe Ben's mistake was stating that Alex was not his daughter--is this what got her killed? UnsungHero108 04-28-2008, 04:00 PM Shocked that she died. augustwest 04-28-2008, 04:30 PM Maybe Ben's mistake was stating that Alex was not his daughter--is this what got her killed? very good point- perhaps the orders were to 'not kill his daughter' so bens maninpulative games backfired? addictedfan 04-28-2008, 05:16 PM very good point- perhaps the orders were to 'not kill his daughter' so bens maninpulative games backfired? That is what I think. He was shocked that he so miscalculated and made a big mistake which resulted in Alex' death. |
