View Full Version : Smokey looked like a train in this episode - Rose was correct.....
tommysoprano 04-29-2008, 06:44 PM Everyone remember Rose's comments from the pilot episode and how whatever was out in the distance knocking the trees over sounded familiar to her........well where did you live......The Bronx was her reply! I can't believe how much smokey looks like a damn train or subway train? Take a look again folks! Smokey is super long and super fast and rumbles along like a train would! Amazing!!!!! :eek2: :eek2:
richlost 04-29-2008, 06:52 PM I thought it looked like the evil twin of the Coors Light Silver Bullet.
People all over the world...... join hands....start a love train, love train
Pink Human 04-29-2008, 07:06 PM I thought roller coaster. One heck of a ride, too. Better buckle up 'cause the road gets bumpy from here. :yikes:

:rotflmao2: That's funny.
But Smokey definitely looked like a derailed train.
tommysoprano 04-29-2008, 07:16 PM Thing is.......I've never seen smokey look like this before? And the rumbling in the house they were staying - sounded like an earthquake! Just wonder if this train like appearance has any significance!

That's it! Smokey is Thomas the Tank Engine, with Annie and Clarabelle (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7ubfrJ4BxYY)! Why didn't I see it all along!
AnalogKid 04-29-2008, 11:12 PM Maybe we'll have to stop calling it Smokey and start calling it Blaine.
Blaine is a pain, and that's the truth.
*That was a Dark Tower reference, for those who are wondering what I'm going on about. Blaine was a monorail with an AI.

Well I guess to Ben, Smokey is a really useful engine.
Kevonski 04-29-2008, 11:28 PM BLAINE!!!! Oh ya I am with ya there, brother!
Currently on my 3rd read through of the Dark Tower series. After this last episode I see Ben as the Gunslinger of the tale.

Except he forgot the face of his father.
But yeah..it definitely had a train/roller-coaster kind of movement. Which makes little sense. I'm still of the opinion that the smoke is just the part of it they can see. The actual thing is maybe in the 4th spatial dimension. Or something equally weird like that.
Avius 04-29-2008, 11:38 PM That was my first impression. The Smokey Railroad.

Beat me to it
Lost Ed 04-30-2008, 10:48 AM Previously, we've seen Smokey checking out the situation, kind of curious even, but Evil Coors Lite Silver Bullet Smokey was definitley on a mission. BACON!!!! IT'S BACON!!!!
"Smoke Monsters don't know its not bacon."
augustwest 04-30-2008, 11:44 AM i recall hearing 'roller coaster climbing the hill' noises in earlier appearances of smokey
Pink Human 04-30-2008, 12:07 PM Well, Coney Island is in Brooklyn, and there is a roller coaster there.
Like I said in an earlier post--buckle up 'cause the ride gets bumpy from here.

Hey that was my joke days ago! no one on the other thread seemed to get it...my line was:
"Get on the Smoke train......Smoke train...woot....woot....wooot!"
Right about the Rose comment, and the clicking roller coaster noises when Locke was getting dragged into the hole in the ground. good memory!

The sound that Rose was referring to is the weird cicada scratchy sound that smokey makes. I think it was convirmed somewhere that this is the sound that the receipt machines in the taxi cabs make or something...
I'm not joking!

That has to be one of my favorite books and the best smokey reference I have heard! CHEERS TO YOU!!!!!!!!!
The sound of Smokey is taken from the receipt printers in NYC taxi cabs. That's probably why Rose made that comment.
Wasn't that addressed in the Season 1 DVD?
Madge 04-30-2008, 05:37 PM Smokey seems to have several different sounds going on. I keep hearing Godzilla on occasion whenever he shows up. But yeah, he did charge in there like a train.

I immediately thought train when I saw smokey in this ep, and very shortly after that thought Blaine ;)
PapaThor 04-30-2008, 09:46 PM I thought roller coaster. One heck of a ride, too. Better buckle up 'cause the road gets bumpy from here. :yikes:
The road also gets more smoky.
I thought Smokie looked like a Graboid (Caederus americana.) [ http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Graboid ] only more smoky around the edges. And in the middle. And throughout. More smoky all around really.
P. S. The Graboids in Texas are bigger and have horns. (Caederus Texanus Humongousus) Tasty, too. But it takes a whole week to tenderize it.
