View Full Version : What does "The Island" want with Claire?
Pinjo 05-01-2008, 11:02 PM Why do you think Christian/Smokey/The Island appeared to Claire and seperated her from Aaron? Where has she gone? If all these appirations are the same power source, why would the island seperate Claire from Aaron, and then manifest itself as Charlie to tell Hurley to not let anyone else raise Aaron. Seems like a contradiction. Or, perhapes, it was hoping that Claire would not leave Aaron behind when she went after her father.
MinnieVanMommie 05-01-2008, 11:03 PM 1. Smokey appeared as Christian and took her....
OR
2. The Freightor Dudes took her....
BUT why leave the baby?
So I think it could be smokey who knows that aaron needs to be raised by another....(kate)
Kate731 05-01-2008, 11:05 PM I have no idea, but I now think Claire probably won't die (this solves the question of how she was separated from Aaron). Plus, maybe she will actually get to *gasp* do something on the show!!!!!!!!! :eek2:
Aversion 05-01-2008, 11:06 PM She said Dad, which would be a bit weird if it was Christian.
Whatever happened to her the island did it, and she apparently thought she was following her baby who was in 'Dad's' arms. So Jimmy takes the baby back to the beach and they all think Claire must be dead, so Aaron goes with Kate and Claire's left behind? Oops.
jennylee27 05-01-2008, 11:11 PM This is what I'd like to know too.
She said Dad, which would be a bit weird if it was Christian.
But Christian is her dad.
I guess we are supposed to think that smokey lured her away, but I can't guess as to where. I wonder if she'll be gone as long as she was in season 1 - perhaps until season 5 and/or the O6 leave.
About the raised by another thing -- there seems to be one side of the mystical equation that wants Aaron to be raised by his mother, and no one else -- and one side that wants to mess with that.
EmptyJar 05-01-2008, 11:11 PM Yeah i was a little disapointed at the way (it seems so far at least) they handled the whole question of why Claire didn't get off the island... she just walked away w/Christians ghost/smokie/whatever??
I dunno.. i hope we get more to it.
EllsBells1960 05-01-2008, 11:12 PM She said Dad, which would be a bit weird if it was Christian.
.
Why would that be weird? She met him when her mother was ill.
Aversion 05-01-2008, 11:13 PM Good point :)
Jynes 05-01-2008, 11:22 PM I think "Christian" lured her to Jacob's shack.

Well..
I've read on another thread that claire is getting a major story arc
LostLaura 05-01-2008, 11:28 PM Ok I am not reading that spoilerfont, but I have to believe we'll find out more before the season is over. We know that Jack shouldn't raise Aaron. We know that Claire must. We know that she has been separated from him. We know that she will be permanently or indefinitely separated from him.... It's very unclear to me what is happening. I just pray that she doesn't die. I couldn't bear it to lose another original Lostie, another female, another innocent person, another mother.....
caforrest2047 05-01-2008, 11:31 PM I'm not so concerned with were she went with Christian, I'm more interested in what he said to convince her to go with him, and possibly leave Aaron behind.
Caliban2 05-01-2008, 11:33 PM I have a feeling that we are not going to get an insight or explanation as to Claire's disappearance. This will be another lingering mystery. Why do I think this? Because we know the disappearance is related to Christian and he is one of the main mysteries of the series.
Claire will only be seen in FBs and FFs. She off the island now. But not dead.
LillyIsHot 05-01-2008, 11:37 PM Maybe the island does not want to lose one of it's own in the baby? Maybe they took the baby off the island without "permission" and now the island wants it back. I'm so confused...

Yeah we won't know till next season or something is my guess........
but we won't know for a loooooooooooooooong time.
everyone will just assume her dead and get aaron off the island
erin1679 05-01-2008, 11:43 PM I'm just hopeful that she had to do something important, and left Aaron nearby where she knew Sawyer would find him. Who knows, maybe she talked to Miles before she left and told him that Aaron was there, but he wanted to stick it to Sawyer with the restraining order comment...
ddb320 05-01-2008, 11:56 PM Well, if the explanation doesnt come til next season, it would parallel her disappearing in season 1, and then the explanation coming in season 2 - right?
EmptyJar 05-02-2008, 12:02 AM Yeah i posted about this as well... kinda disappointed that she disappeared like this, but I guess you're right, they did explain the S1 disappearance in S2, so I guess we won't be left hangin forever
Still, well, you'd think she'd learn by now about wandering into the woods with unexpected dudes...
eyris 05-02-2008, 12:22 AM I'm so confused as to why the island would want to separate Claire and Aaron, yet Aaron is supposedly not to be raised by another. I'm wondering if there's a significance to Charlie's (via Hurley) specification that Jack isn't supposed to raise Aaron. Could Jack be the only threat?
ayrez 05-02-2008, 12:44 AM Well, we don't know who separated Claire and Aaron, or what happened after Claire saw Christian.
But my biggest question is, how the heck are they supposed to feed that baby? Babies can't eat fish or mangos...or even peanut butter for that matter. We've seen polar bears and horses, but no cows on the island (and to contradict Ben Stiller, you can't milk anything with nipples.)
Maybe it's another piece of reality we're just supposed to overlook...or maybe Claire was taken so that the people on the ship would be forced to take Aaron off the island in order to save his life. I'm assuming that Aaron is very important to someone very powerful.
MPmom 05-02-2008, 12:48 AM Since no one has mentioned this....
Remember before when Claire was kidnapped, the Others tried to separate her from her unborn child. They tried to convince her to let them adopt the baby once it was born. When Alex helped Claire, she said that the Others planned to kill her once the baby was born, right?
And for the most part, The Others seem to be working for the good of the island. So this is the second time the island/the Others have tried to separate Claire and Aaron.
The fact that Dead Charlie says the baby must not be raised by Jack (or any other) could mean several things.
He's jealous. He wanted to be the father.
Or, being dead, he knows stuff. He knows about the Psychics warning and that only Claire can raise the child.
If the latter is true, then Dead Charlie must not be a manifestation of Smokey. If he is, then Smokey and the island are on opposing sides.
lostmio 05-02-2008, 01:01 AM Claire's a Shephard and, as such, has a special connection with the island..
Christian's her dad, many of us believe Jacob is Christian's dad.
The only puzzling thing, imo, is why Christian left Aaron behind.
I'm working through some half-baked theories on that.
In the meantime I'm trying to remember if Aaron cried when Christian was holding him.
Aaron's 'special' and 'sensitive'. He cried (briefly) just as Miles realized Danielle and Karl (R.I.P.) were beneath them. So it's significant that he didn't cry when Christian held him.
100%

Throughout recorded history, motherless babes have been raised on all sorts of liquified proteins and grains. Rice, soy, peanuts, etc. You smush them, dip a rag in the stuff, and the baby sucks it.
Besides, there seems to be no end to the variety of canned Dharma foods available. A babe could live a long time on a rag dipped in the juices of those.
It's not spoilerish to say Aaron will be rescued shortly. No need to worry.

Sun is pregnant so she could feed Aaron until they get off the island.

Spoilers below peeps.
Wrong, She will be in Jacob's Shack next episode with Locke.
I personally hope this (her walking away with Christian) means she will get a more important story arc. I don't want to think for a second that they would kill Claire off without her finding the ring or something, so here's hoping she finds it and becomes all depressed like she should be ^________^
nicksmom116 05-02-2008, 09:35 AM I think Claire is dead. she died when the house was attacked.
jane_eire 05-02-2008, 09:39 AM Claire still has to stage her Prophecy Dream with Locke. I wonder if she's been taken back to the Caves...

To quote Frank Lapidus... "I saw a cow."
