So we kind of knew that Daniel had feelings for Charlotte, but it was not clear if the feelings were mutual. Obviously, she likes Daniel enough to not want his fingers broken. I wonder if they already are a couple? They seemed like it the way Daniel told her off about her attitude.

I wonder if Charlotte already know about Jin's background and what he was capable of?

I actually thought someone, didn't think Jin, would have done something to Charlotte to get daniel to tell the truth, I didn't think it would be the other way, I forgot about his past, plus he has made steps toward changing his life putting his "muscle" lifestyle behind him. I actually said "Finally" they make a proper step towards getting the truth out of these people. Obviously there was no truth telling, but I think the writers have set it up that Jin will use the same threat later in the season/series to get answers out of her.

As a side note as soon as I saw her face after Sun mentioned to Jin about "shes a woman of course she knows" and we see her smile/smirk I thought could she be working for or with Paik as well as Widmore or inspite of Widmore.

As for the main focus of your post, sorry I get distracted easily. I think perhaps she might be using him, obviously there is no time for a romantic relationship, they are on a mission.

I think it should be noted that in 4x02, Miles threatened to break Dan's fingers as well. Maybe a connection.

Yeah, I think Dan would be easy to get information out of if Jin would try, but I don't think he cares about that, he just wanted Charlotte to promise to get Sun off the island and he knew he could communicate with her without a language barrier. He wasn't pushing her for answers. Now if he wanted answers, I think he knows Dan would be more easily "persuaded."

Does anybody else see Jin's deal with Charlotte as a huge betrayal to the losties? Didn't he say he didn't care about who else got off the island as long as Sun goes? Really reminded me of Micheal's obsession to get Walt off the island at the expense of everyone else.

I can understand his wife and child being his first (and maybe only) concern. He can't really speak to anyone, he's done his best to help them in regards to blowing the tents. They're his family and his priority. He didn't tell Charlotte that Sun and only Sun would get off the island, he's just making sure she has a seat.
I rather liked mobster Jin showing up.

Possible link to the movie "Man on Fire" with Denzel Washington? There's a scene where Denzel has a guy tied to a steering wheel, and says " I'm going to cut of your fingers, one by one if you don't answer my questions." That scene immediately came to my mind after watching Jin

Sure glad to see Jin learned his lesson about karma from Bernard. Oh wait...

Exactly. :undecide:

I am reminded of Sawyer saying, "A leopard don't change it's spots."

But isn't that the theme of this whole series?
Everything is circular, "it'll come back around," "it's a loop"

Jack wanting to be so unlike his father and then ending up just like him, Jin wanting to escape his hitman past and then using that experience to threaten people on the island, etc etc .....

I like how Charlotte -Ms. ICE QUEEN - knew without a shadow of a doubt Jin WOULD
break those fingers if she didn't comply.

Well, Sun will die if she stays on the island. I think he had to put it bluntly because he doesn't want to see Sun die. He HAS to get her off the island. Given this, it shouldn't be seen as a betrayal to the losties. I don't think he said he didn't care who else got off the island.

I agree. This is also not reminicent of Michael. He's not willing to kill for her (yet). I think he's just saying that he loves her and wants her to survive. Does anyone else think that this kinda points to Jin still being alive and the grave in the future being fake?

yeah I rewatched and charlotte says what about you and your friends? To which he said it didn't matter. I can understand his motivations but the secret deal making kind of disturbs me, as did charlottes evil grin.

And I agree I have hope Jin is still alive too. There has to be some people there to go back for anyways right?

Yep. It does point to that because Jin doesn't say he has to get on the helicopter with Sun at all cost; he just emphasizes the need for Sun to get on the helicopter, whether he is there with her or not.

I liked that mobster Jin showed up too. He was so cool and steady when he said he would break Daniel's fingers.

1) You were faster than I was.. I realized she knew Korean, but it wasn't until Jin and Char started talking that I realized she COULD be a Paik spy.
2) I just don't see Dan and Char as a couple. Remember Naomi said, "Tell my sister I love her, " was a coded message according to Miles? What if Dan saying, let me go first was a coded message? I got the feeling they were communicating secretively, but not romantically.

I think Dan might surprise us in the next upcoming episodes! To fly off to a mysterious Island to fullfill his life long pursuits... I wouldn't let someone stop me! Not after getting so close to the answers.
