Juliet really came into her own in this episode and shed the smirky manipulative side that had been her trademark so much before. I had been on the fence about whether Juliet is fully on the Losties' side, and she still may have a few surprises up her sleeve, but here she was straightforward, taking charge like a true doctor in an emergency, and saved Jack's life.
Her compassionate side was really good to see too - the gentle way in which she confirmed the diagnosis with Jack, who was in denial, the care she took of him, and the graceful and classy way she let Kate know that she was stepping aside for Jack. I think that last gesture shows character growth, for she was content to be the other woman with Goodwin, but it seems her self-respect has grown enough now to not want to pursue a man whose heart she can see lies elsewhere.
I also like the way she squashed the whining and debate about whether Dan and Charlotte could be trusted to go along for medical supplies - hand the gun to Jin, if they run, shoot 'em in the leg. Case closed.
