Hi all!
I'm sure that there have been threads on this already, but I can't get the search fx to work and there wasn't anything relevant on the 1st 2 pages so here it goes:
Does anyone else think it is possible that Richard is somehow a physical manifestation of the island? This might explain the fact that he does not age at all.
Perhaps he is sent to the "real world" to recruit the "Chosen One's" to ensure the survival of the island. He attempted to recruit Locke, and did recruit Juliet. Was there any relation to bringing Ben onto the island? I can't remember.
I am sure that we will be seeing a LOT more of him, as he seems to be turning into a very central character to the island.
Sorry if this is a repost, I tried to search.:undecide:

hi there,
i did a forum search to see if anyone else had mentioned this and i found some posts from over a year ago so i think i can bring it up safely ... it kept bugging me that i hadn't seen anyone mention the 'real' Richard Alpert and his possible connection to LOST, so tonight i finally did my own search on Richard Alpert, Baba Ram Dass as he is currently known, and after reading a bit about him (i remembered listening to him on the radio when i was a teenager and reading a lot of his stuff later when i was doing my own experimentation with Psychedelics) to see if could find a specific connection, i found this after following some links about his writings on Neem Karoli Baba, the person he considered his spiritual leader :
Dharma incorporates all good things into itself. It protects you only if you protect it. Not religious - Dharma is more than that. Dharma incorporates all of the good things an individual must do for himself and others. To do good for others is the best of dharma. To inflict (pain or injury) on others is most heinous act against dharma Ahar* - food,
Nitra* - sleep,
Bhaya* - fear,
Methun* - Sex.
These are all common in human beings and beasts.
Only dharma seperates human beings from animals.

i KNEW i had heard of Dharma before...lol..just couldn't remember when or where...
anyway, sorry if this is old news to some of you but i found it pretty interesting that i hadn't seen anyone make reference to Richard Alpert's namesake.
if you are interested in reading some old posts about it, here's a link to an old thread i found pretty interesting. i wasn't reading the boards back last February cuz i was busy having an operation that didn't go very well, i was offline for a few months, now that i look at that thread i see i missed a LOT.

they just got the Ram Dass part backwards, but the rest is all stuff that would be worth reading if you are interested in possible connections to the character. plus a lot has happened since those posts last Feb. both in LOST time and real life ...it was interesting to see what folks were saying back then...
