Many have now identified the picture above the Geronimo Jackson poster in teenage John Locke's locker as Sir Richard Burton. http://www.bbc.co.uk/history/historic_figures/burton_sir_richard.shtml
In reading the bio, a few things strike me. The description of Burton and his partner Speke remind me for some reason of Locke and Ben. Burton went on a Hajj, and Locke went on a walkabout. Additionally, Burton's wife was named Isabel. The character of Isabel is someone I've been hoping we'd revisit at some point. http://www.lostpedia.com/wiki/Isabel
Just my random thoughts. While I love the reappearance of Geronimo Jackson, I have yet to jump on the bandwagon that it's no more than a fun recurring device (though I would love to be proven wrong). Sir Richard Burton, however, is an interesting one. Why Locke's fascination with this historical figure? Enough so to hang a picture in his locker?
