Carencey

All righty...so if everything goes according to plan, both Artie and I will be participating in the 2008 US Puzzle Championships (http://wpc.puzzles.com/index.htm) on Saturday, June 14. I know we have a lot of really smart people here, so I figured we'd throw the challenge out there and see if anyone could beat either of our scores this year. No prizes though, just bragging rights. :D
The championships are all done online. It's a timed test, starting at 1 PM EDT. You CAN participate and have your score recorded even if you aren't in the US -- actually, many countries use the US quiz to choose their representatives for the World Puzzle Championships. If you want to play, you have to register by June 12. I recommend that you read their tips and try the practice quiz, and DEFINITELY download the test to review the day before. Submitting each answer as you finish is also a good idea -- you never know when their server or your internet might be completely evil.
Of course, if you don't want to play, you can always speculate as to who will pull down the high score this year. :dgrin:
For your competitors' stats:
Carencey will be competing for the third time this year. Past scores are a 149 in 2006 (yay!) and an 83 in 2007, after making the ill-advised decision to wrestle with a big-value question for over an hour and then missing it.
Artie is in for his sixth attempt, and has previously scored a 90, 97, 105, 65, and a 100 in 2007, after a typo on the answer sheet cost him another 20 or so points.
So the matchups are at an even 1:1, and we didn't even know we were competing against each other in previous years. :)
They do post scores with your real names (assuming the name you give them is your real one), so keep that in mind if you want to participate and post your scores in this thread. Also, everything is on the honor system -- so no sharing answers here before quiz time is up!
