Now I was going to give this a miss, but then I saw a trailer with James Morrison in it and I thought...why not.

I really liked him in Space Above and Beyond, and it's been a heck of a long time since I've seen him on screen.

Unfortunetly he's only got a teeny weeny part in it and only says a few words. :'(

It kinda reminds me of Teen Titans where Raven was born half demon to a human mother. She was constantly fighting her bad side and sometime's she'd lose.

This is also bordering on the lines of Omen.

I'm not sure how to take this series, and with it being on FOX, I don't think it's going to last seeing as they don't like genre.

I really like the show. I don't have high hopes for it lasting, but I hope it does.

Sad. I'm so very sad about this show that I've yet to recover after 5 days of drunken stupors. I had so looked forward to it, but it makes too much with the sexy cleavage and too little with a decent plotline and the Danny Elfman "Hey, now you feel good but now you feel bad but now you feel scared" music made me more than angry.

I'm a smart viewer. I don't mind some skin. I don't even mind a couple of collagen injected faces as long as there's a decent plot stringing them together. But here, not so much with the decent plot and way too much with the Baywatch.

I haven't been impressed yet. Maybe I'm too old for the young people's angst stuff even with a supernatural spin.

Maybe being from NJ I just find it hard to swallow. The
End of days have to be stopped by folks from NJ? We are sooo screwed. :lol2:

And as one person here asked:
They have the Jersey shore and no Guidos around? Talk about unrealistic! :lol2: :lol2:

Plots simple. Spawn of; I assume, Satan is born from a woman who is a virgin. She is set to make the planet the new hell.

But since her mother was pure of heart there may be a chance to 'save' her from her hellfire and brimstone lifestyle.

Cue cute looking guy for her to drool over, who funnily enough has died once already. Perhaps a mercenary of god, he just doesn't know it yet, that's why he's drawn to her.

The stupid thing about the whole plot though is that she found out her mother was a virgin when she gave birth to her. So why the hell doesn't she just go home and confront the so called man whom she called father for all those years?

Bobbins that's what. Although I did get to see James Morrison, so I'm not fussing on that score even if it was another bit part. I heard he's in the new season of 24, so now I got to watch that show!!

Maybe that's my problem as well. Too much T&A, too much collagen, too little decent dialogue.

Actually, what really depresses me is the stunning lack of WIT in the show. I believe there was only one real laughable moment in the first two hours. What's worse, there were only a couple of good nasty moments.

I want a show that makes me take a pause - suck in my breath - or want to hang out with the writers because "They're so cool and literary!!!" I'm a fan of Noxon, that's for sure, but so far this show seems so flat, lifeless, plotless, and drab compared to any of her previous projects.

Problem is, it ain't that horrible. Or maybe it is. ;)

Buffy was a comedy before it went to a series. *Lost is situation comedy or sit com, but it's also drama as well.

Point Pleasant never in my mind came across as it should be witty. *Wit was far from my mind when it started. *But I don't think I can watch it when you can't really convey horror as horror on a tv show shown at kiddie hour.

It's weak horror. *If they packaged it as adult horror tune in at midnight stuff for blood and guts, maybe.

But it's all tame horror.

Not diggin it. Said it before, say it again, it's Fox lookin for another OC, and Marti Noxon lookin to be part of another Buffy.. check the result.

Why Jersey? Funny allegory for hell on earth? Mayhap, but having lived here & in LA, LA is MUUUUUCH closer to the 9th circle.

But yeah. How hard is it to 1) cast more Italians, 2) slap a few thin gold chains on the guys? I mean come on now! Even Little Black Book got it right, and the setting of that flick wasn't dependent on Jersey!

Needless to say, I spent more time trying to figure out why so many of the actors & actresses looked familiar than I did getting lost in the series (heh no pun intended), and to say nothing about looping the Grand Show scene at the end... I dunno. Lookin too ham-fisted, and probably (or is it hopefully?) to die a quick death.

Or get some new creative blood in the mix.

Comedy provides an opposite to make horror that much darker. WIT is the smart comedy that would provide as much in PP. Seriously, this show is soulless, for lack of a better word.

Where are the smart writers I came to love with Buffy? Buffy was funny, dramatic, heart-wrenching (seen The Body? Best.piece.of.drama.out.there.). It was good horror. It was good action. It.had.soul.

Point Pleasant tends to wish to make up for brains with scantily clad bodies. I'm not so keen on the lack of clothing if there's a subsequent lack of intelligence. I'm not asking for COMEDY, so much as I'm asking for intelligence, an eye or ear for their viewership, and something to offset the horror to make it look more horrible.

Lackluster horror, impetuous dialogue, and T&A do not a decent tv drama make.

I dunno guys, it took me a while to get the true brilliance of Buffy too. I guess I just have enough blind faith in Marti to give it at least a few more tries. And I believe they aknowledged the "too pretty" townsfolk in the TVG write up...something like, "All OC and beautiful, but then, this is no ordinary town...and these are no ordinary townspeople," type of thing. C'mon! Suspension of disbelief! Gimme ONE non-traditional beauty from Lost. (Hurley is beautiful to me, but not conventionally...and I guess the rash man ain't too cute when ya consider the rash...but I think there are future plans for him that will make it appropriate. Speculation, peeps, don't freak.)

And nobody has mentioned the BEST part of the show...Christina's new pseudo-sister. Like Sarah Michelle, she came from soaps...in fact, she was stand-out on Guiding Light when she was there. Her acting just soared beyond the rest of the cast.) I think she's adorable, funny, sexy, and smart. She alone is worth the hour for me.

Yes, I might have a teensy little girl-crush on her. Even if I can't remember her name. Bygones.

So, come now...give Marti's baby a shot. We have lots more to get into...the dead sister, what happened on the boat cruise exactly, will skanky-skank pants get what's coming to her, etc etc.

Faith, folks!

Yes, but unlike Buffy this is set in a real town. Point Pleasant, NJ does not have that many beautiful people. I don't think all of NJ has that many. I've lived here since I was 4 and I haven't seen them.

At least Buffy took place in CA and was in a fictional town. I guess that's why I have trouble swallowing that part. I can't suspend belief when I can see the real thing close up. :-\

Aw man they described James Morrison as an old guy. :'( It would have been funny if they mentioned his McQueen days in Space Above and Beyond and you expecting him to grab the bench and toss it and say "It's ok to be scared."

Too true. *:lol2:

I do miss Dan Kwa doing Lost. The new guy is good but Dan was hysterical! I would end up in tears reading his stuff.
