ShayidFan 07-05-2005, 12:19 PM I didn't get a chance to go, but I watched it on tv. It looked amazing. Although I would have much rather been at the one in London. PhillyGirl2873 07-05-2005, 12:38 PM I haven't gotten to see any of the London show yet, although I heard it was great. I took the bus from just down the block at my house to the subway and then into downtown. I got there early and had to hang around and wait for my friends to get there. We met up and got down to the Art Museam area around 11:30, just before the show started. We saw the Philly show from the beginning to just after Dave Matthews. I really couldn't see the Jumbotrons (I'm short), but I could hear the music and it was great. There was a lot of comradery. Everyone was really nice. We talked to the people that were standing around us and it really did have a block party type of feel. We bought tickets to this party at a bar for $10, so we had a place with a clean bathroom and a place to just get away when we needed to. After Dave Matthew we went back to the bar, but I just went to the BR and grabbed a beer and went back. I wanted to see Linkin Park and Jay Z. They were awesome and this time I had a view where I could see the jumbotron. This group of people invited me to stand on their cooler so I could see better. After Jay Z, I grabbed a bite to eat and went back to the bar, just so I could sit down, really. My feet were tired by this point. I went back to see the rest of the show. I got back down there when Keith Urban was on. I never really saw him before, but he was great. People were already leaving. It was a long how day, so I kept working my way up through the crowd. By the time Stevie was on, I was up to the front of the general area, just behind the VIP area. After the show we went back to the bar to hang out. It was a great place to hang out after the show before taking the subway home. For me the best was Will Smith, but that's because he's a home town boy. RamessesIX 07-05-2005, 01:33 PM I was actually down in the area but didn't make it into the city for the show. I don't do huge crowd scenes. Besides, I heard they had something like 500 porta-potties for a million people! :fear2: Glad you had fun, though, I hope everyone did. yamapresta 07-05-2005, 01:41 PM I was so devastated when I couldn't go! (I live right outside of Philly -- maybe a 20 minute drive.) But I, in my utte oblivion, didn't learn that it was in Philly and that it was free until the night before. (Yeah... you can see that I am very well informed.) Otherwise, I would've found some way to make it into the city. It was an experience I really would've wanted to keep with me, but of course, I missed out. Sigh. Me 07-05-2005, 02:13 PM I also live outside of Philly. In my younger days I would have been there but I also don't do crowds well. I watched some of it on TV. Most of what I saw was great. clairbabydaddy 07-05-2005, 02:39 PM Went down, devastated my liver, went to a friends house a few blocks away, ate, devastated my liver some more and went back to the show. Good time.....from what I remember anyway ;D PhillyGirl2873 07-05-2005, 04:17 PM Went down, devastated my liver, went to a friends house a few blocks away, ate, devastated my liver some more and went back to the show. Good time.....from what I remember anyway* ;D I hope that wasn't you I saw puking his guts out on the side of the street after the show. :lol2: clairbabydaddy 07-05-2005, 04:23 PM I hope that wasn't you I saw puking his guts out on the side of the street after the show.* *:lol2: I very rarely puke, so that wasn't me. I walked right out of my damn sandles though....Teva's even!! This is why I should have $5 sunglasses and $10 sandles! I lose things constantly. It was a damn good time though. ;) PhillyGirl2873 07-05-2005, 04:26 PM Yeah, it was. We hung out at Jack's before, during, and after. It's a bar in an old firehouse across the street from Eastern State Penitentiary (on Fairmount Ave and 22nd Street), you know, the one that does the haunted house. Pretty cool bar, I want to go back there some time. clairbabydaddy 07-05-2005, 04:30 PM We were lucky enough to have friends BBQ'ing like 3 blocks away with a keg, then we started playing "flip the cup" and then I was too drunk to care whatelse happened ;D I'd like to try Jack's, I've heard good things about it. |
