Did anyone see tonights episode?

OMGsh :o, I'll put this in spoiler font just incase anyone hasn't seen it yet....

I heard that they were going to kill all the main characters off for the finale, so do you think they will do one each episode? It was soo sad. I totally thought Nate would be okay to. And the way he acted towards Brenda. I feel so bad for her. Next weeks preview looked so dark.

Oh I am so happy to see this threah, I did see this ep and it was REALLY REALLY GOOD!

I was totally unimpressed with the begining of the season, but the last few eps have hooked me again. I've seen every episode except for the very first, I love this show.

I am glad what happened happened. Nate has been bugging me for a while now.
I feel bad for Brenda too. For the first 15 min I just kept yelling at the TV for Maggie to go home!
I hadn't heard that spoiler, I only heard it was one, that would be interesting if it's all of them.

I used to watch this show when it first started but after a while I got out of watching (don't know why, it's a great show!!) But this show is alot like my childhood, my grandfather owned one of the first Funeral Homes here in Orlando and some of my earliest memories are being in the Embalming room with him, watching him Embalm, patch holes ect....... Pretty morbid for a 4-5 year old but......

Yeah, it was a shocker allright. I think you are right diabolo. They should be wrapping up soon.

I agree Airhostess, the first part of the season moved rather slow and the whole George going crazy was just sad. And I hated Claire and Billy together. But that girl never seems to pick the right guys. I did like last weeks episode when she went to the gallery. I liked her better during her artist days. I always liked Russel too and hope we get atleast one more epi w/him.

Nate has been a total jerk and I cant beleive he said that to Brenda. If he wasn't happy he should have ended it, but I guess in a way he did...

They definately like to mess with our minds on that show, lol...

It really is a great show and they sure do mess with our minds. I understand one of the writers will now bw writing for LOST.

I didn't read the spolier fonts, because I don't think I saw the epsiode yet. I just wated to comment on how funny Claire's office is. Whoever writes those scenes has definitly worked in an office before. The whole "Yeah, Baby" catch phrase is just so perfect. I love it!

Absolutely, it's so funny how true that is! I work in retail, but still a corporate environment and those scenes are a painful reminder ! I have been the coffee runner plenty of times!

Phillygirl have you seen "Ecotone" yet? It's such a great episode, I can't wait for this weeks!

Oh totally, lol, I was an art student who ended up having to go into admin and temping, so I can really relate to Claires character. It's so funny, how that is. :)

Ecotone is a great epi, but also sad in a way after seeing it the 2nd time.

Great show... sad to see it go.

One of my laugh-out loud scene in "Ecotone" was Claire's quarrel with her new beau at dinner... the political sparring. The awkward silence at the end? Priceless!!

Also - weird dream: David as Shaggy...? I didn't even recognize him at first...

Haha totally Petra, both those scenes were hilarious. I loved how Claire said 'your a republican?' lol, and then the David part--totally unrecognizable :).

omg'sh, Tonights epi was sooooo sad :frown:...

Did anyone else think that Brenda looked suicidal at the end? Like if Billy hadn't shown up? Man, this show has got my mind so warped, but I'm still convinced someone is going to kill themselves, I thought it would be George or Billy, but now I dont know anymore....

2 more epi's left:eek2:

It was very sad, I cried a couple of times...I'm really going to miss this show....

I loved the symbolism with the title of the show, "All Alone" Brenda at the funeral was the only one with no one to comfort her, then at the burial she was the only one driving alone, and to further set her apart, she's the only one not driving a black vehicle, but bright red. Like the scarlet letter maybe ?? Then even at the grave site, sitting by herself, again, uncomforted, next to the grave.
There was so much anger when she shoveled the dirt into the hole. It really was another great episode.
I didn't catch who directed, was it Kathy Bates? She was so necessary in this one, they needed her mild comic relief. I also love Patricia Clarkson (Aunt Sarah) her reading the poem was so necessary! She has a voice like velvet, it was a very sweet moment. And George's speach! He was great too! I could just go on and on! I felt like I was greiving my brother :(

Oh I know, it was so sad and I was so happy to be watching alone ;). Normally I hate it when they drag out a death scene like that, but I think this made sense. That's a great catch Airhostess, with the Scarlett letter reference. She was in a red car too. I felt so bad for Brenda. Some people on other boards have said that she has always been cold and frigid, but I just think that she is so used to bottling up things all the time and just needs to learn how to vent (crazy since she is training to be a shrink, lol.) I loved George too and the whole burial scene was so moving and incredibly sad. I cant wait to see what they do for the final 2 epis. Will Billy drag Brenda down with him, or maybe he will save her? And poor David looks like he's going insane. Sheesh.

Ok, I'm not even going to try and predict what will happen next week, those previews bit the big one, lol.

Did any of you think the Brenda and Billy kiss was real? Hehe, that was some twisted stuff. And why is Nate always so mean to Brenda? So perhaps David and George will trade places and George may take over the funeral home now, I dont know. It just seemed so open ended to me. I think the only thing we know for sure is that Brenda's going to have her baby.

Any thoughts? Eesh, it's almost over :eek2: ...

OK Girlspy here's kinda what I think...
I think this show is a lot like life...things get left unresolved... There will just be things we don't know how they end up.
This ep was SOOOO weird all the daydreams were freaky. Each one made me think, ok this is really happening... I naturally thought of an R rated Boone and Shannon with Brendas dream...Billy's hot and all but... COME ON! I thought for sure the dead soldier HAD come back to life. I was so angry with Claire for behaving the way she was...her and David really need to pull it together! Grieving is one thing but six weeks later acting like A holes is too much!OK there's my little rant.
I can't wait to see how this will end up...I maintain my sadness to see it go :(

AIRHOSTESS

Oh yeah and Nate is so mean to Brenda because he's not Nate, he's her own subconscience and she truely hates herself right now. She's always been messed up because of what her parents and the pychologists did to her because of her extreme intelligence.

Haha, yeah I know AIRHOSTESS.:) I mean I have gone through the whole death thing too and I know people deal in different ways but 6 weeks later, c'mon. I agree Claire and David need serious help. And I had a feeling they would leave it open ended, in a way I'm glad, cause it's annoying sometimes when everythings tied up with a pretty little bow, but I hope they have some resolution. I'd hate to have them leave us thinking everyone went insane, lol. I think the characters deserve a bit more credit than that. Oh and I totally thought of the Shannon/Boone thing too. ;) Twisted but oddly beleivable.Hehe.

This episode freaked me out on more than one occasion... (Brenda and Billy... hello?!) I found it a wee bit too much on the trippy side. The only storyline that was very "real" was Rico's... and I'm very happy for him. It seems that life is going to work out for him after all.

I think Claire smashing up her hearse in that freak accident made it very clear for her: life as she knew it is over! I would love to see her happy in the end, though... without repeating her mother's mistakes (a.k.a. giving up who she is and who she wants to be, and settling down with a guy (= Ted?) just for comfort (spoiler-fonted, just in case...)

While I think that Claire might just have gotten her act together, David certainly needs a similar eye-opener. Whether that's in form of professional help or a soul-searching experience, I don't know. He's clearly the most unstable here right now... hopefully things will work out for him, too...

Only 75 minutes left... *cries*

That's a great connection Petragrrl, with the Claire and Ruth paralells. There are so many different angles at how you could look at it. ITA with you though. I think Ted is a nice guy, but it seems to me like she'd bet settling for him. Obviously the girl cant fall in love in those last 75 min {gah, I'm feeling it to :( } but it would be nice to know that she didn't give up on herself.

Oh, thanks girlspy15...

I think Ruth made mention of that to Claire in the episode that she made Claire go to work instead of hang out at home all the time (but it could be another one, too...), and I thought: oh, how sad for Ruth... but how right for Claire!

Did anyone catch the Six Feet Under special today on HBO? It'll be repeated on HBO Pacific I think at 10:00 pm CT (which I like to refer to as "Chicago Time"... lol)

Aw no I thought that was next week :(. Bummer. Well hopefully HBO will repeat it. Yes you are right, Ruth did say that in an earlier episode. I think it was the one where Claire mentioned that she wanted to travel to Spain with Billy and not go back to art school. I just didn't make the connection right away ;).

Great observations. I noticed the Rico thing tonight when I watched again, he's the only normal one because he didn't grow up in the funeral home. He's what Nate Sr. wanted his sons to be. Remember that he took Rico under his wing when he was young and taught him the business.

I never thought about Claire settling for Ted, I like him, but I see your point. :frown: I thought about the herse thing to, it really signified the end of an era...I think that was probably pretty hard for Lauren Ambrose to film that scene. She's been on that show since she was a teenager. I think she mentions that on the In Memoriam Episode which I missed...bummer...oh well it will be on next week before the finale.

As far as Brenda and Billy, I just kept yelling at the TV..."NO DON"T TOUCH IT!!!"

Naturally I was waaaaaaaaaay off again in my speculations what would "happen" to each individual character... oh well.

I actually liked it that the show went out on a positive note rather than on a negative... and that song at the end? Off of Ted's "Deeply Un-hip Mix?" Absolutely beautiful!!

yeah, I was a little disappointed that they all died of old age. I was kind of hoping for more unusual deaths. Kieth had the only interesting one. I was hoping that Billy would finally kill Brenda and Himself. I guess in a way he did, she finally got tired of his rants
I have to say that my company that I work for, Crate & Barrel mourns the loss of SFU as well. My friend had sold them a lot of the furniture for the pilot episode which got us all started watching, then last night during the scene just before the dinner, every piece of furniture I saw, except the kitchen table, was from Crate. It was pretty cool.
I loved that they wrapped everything up without making it cheesey. I'm hoping that on the website or something, they give the obits for everyone else. I would love to find out what eventually happens to Bettina, Sarah, George, Margaret, Billy and even Vanessa.
I was satisfied with the end as sad as I am to see it go... they lived a good life :rip:

Haha, I agree AIRHOSTESS. I thought their deaths would be a bit more dramatic. I'm still not sure what I thought about the finale. It felt like everything had to be wrapped up in a way and I almost wished it was just like another regular episode. But knowing that they had to give us some closure, it's understandable. I hate that when they do the progressive time thing in filming though. It's just so sad and makes me feel small. Like in the LOTR books, I would have preferred to not have read the appendix. I just think somethings are better left unsaid. I think overall I liked the ending. At the time, I was sobbing when Claire drove off and was listening to the CD. It touched a chord, lol. But it was kindof bittersweet and the show went full circle. With Nates baby being born instead of someone dying in the beginning and Claire leaving home, like Nate left for Seattle. Only to be brought back by a death, like Claire did for Ruth. So it made sense.....

AIRHOSTESS

It's definately one of the best HBO works ever.
